Tales of Several Worlds

Post by georgexu94 »

To Emander Tyris:

I. A Zero Gravity World

There is a place- a magical world- where everything floats. Creatures and mages float by as it is somehow difficult to reach the ground. There are creatures that are beautiful and mystic such as horses and dragons as well as serpents. Sometimes one may see mages being carried by their faithful dragon companions for travel. When one has the chance to get close to the ground, one may see several species of plants of different colors. These plants serve as habitat for different creatures. There are dark caves too that are deep underground. Only mages of high skill and great spirit of adventure have went deep through these caves. Some claim that the walls are filled with crystals, others say they hear a beautiful song; whatever lies there is filled with mystery and worth exploring.

II. World of Twin Skies

Now let's move on to another world. There is a world with two skies. One sky above and another below. The people live on crescent moons between these two skies. At night, a mage may just lie on his moon and watch the night sky above and appreciate the scenery of a multitude of stars lighting up the sky, with the occasional meteor shower mostly referred as shooting stars.

III. The Star Pond

Another peaceful world is a world where it is always night. In the center of this world is a small pond filled with tiny stars. A mage usually goes for a small fishing trip and may fish for stars, which are tiny gleaming orbs. The process may involve offering some gold and throwing them into the pond.

IV. A Long Path to Forever

I know of a quiet world where there are trees that make a path in between them. This path which is actually comprised of several branches of smaller paths extends on indefinitely, which gives a sense of eternity. Whether you walk along this path or rest under the shade of the trees, you can clearly think about life and be calm and enlightened. Before going out of this place, it is a must to enjoy the soft chirping of birds like the talvar. Also, it is best to go with an animal guide especially when one doesn’t know the way out, as not to get lost. At night, the celestial butterflies can be seen and are a beauty to see.

V. Why did I present these descriptions? These are actually descriptions of some of the activities which mages here at the Keep do during summer. First, with the heat of summer, what better way to cool off than to go swimming? The first part describes the scenery of the underwater world. Mages usually have their koi fishes to aid them to breathe underwater. There are different creatures like the sea horses and also the leviathans. The leviathans are also referred as water dragons or sea serpents. They are majestic creatures that swim gracefully. It is common to see leviathans carry their magi going to far seas. There are plenty diving sites but Callisto Islands is what I have in mind. Skilled water mages would even dive deep through underwater caves and explore. They claim that they hear the mermaid’s song, a melodious and mysterious song that moves people’s hearts.

Second, Lake Lakira is known for its clear waters that reflect the sky above. Mages would most likely spend their lazy afternoons on boats, enjoying the scenery. At night, they would lie down and go stargazing. The boats, illuminated by the lanterns attached to them, resemble little crescent moons in the middle of twin skies.

Third, there is a Koi Pond behind the bushes near the Keep where mages fish for koi eggs. They throw in their offering of gold and hope a koi fish appears to the surface and present them with an egg. At night, I’d like to imagine the koi eggs, with their scales gleaming under the moonlight, are actually tiny stars amidst a myriad of stars on the surface of the water. Ironically, the gold coins thrown into the pond resemble little stars themselves.

Last, Silva Forest is claimed to have a deep connection with earth and woodland magic. It has a long winding path that gives the illusion of infinity.

I believe that it is important to see things in different perspectives. That is why I describe these places and activities as such. As an anthropologist, you would agree with this. Looking things in different angles would give us a different message or interpretation every time, and with every time we are brought closer in understanding truly something, like culture in this case. We see its inner identity, its inner core. I hope you enjoy reading this and a warm welcome to you from the magi of the Keep!

I don't seem to understand
But I know who holds tomorrow
And I know who holds my hand
