It is definitely different being here rather then at home where I used to be. Especially in the summer. Instead of blistering heat, no rain whatsoever, and the days being extremely long, instead we can have semi-cool days here. And we often get summer rains, which bring in a wet heat which is uncomfortable, I must say. The days o course as just as long, but you don't seem to notice it when studying or playing with your companions.
Because it's Summer here, we have the Summer Solstice, it's a great big festival, there are lots of colours and flags and amazing music. It's to celebrate the longest day of the year. Most Summer Solstice festivals include face painting, arts and crafts, contests, luck games, music, dancing, and just so much MORE! it's simply amazing. There are also so many different types of kites! You can see them everywhere, even when not in the festival. Of course, there is a competition for that too. Best and Brightest Kite. I'm not sure how they judge that though.
Because the days are longer as-well, we have more amount of time in the sun and open air. It's dangerous at night, but with the longer days we can live just that tiny bit more! New creatures arrive too. Different ones, Ones that can migrate and ones that prefer the heat. Of course the ones that prefer the cold, or can't cope with the heat, they tend to leave, but they always come back.
I've only been here a while. Under half a year. but it's so different from being on the farm i used to be on. It's so much fun, and so mysterious too. I've noticed that more people come back to the keep in the summer. I very much bet they leave just after winter, avoiding the worst of the cold and being able to see the life grow as they travel in Spring. It's so amazing how many friends I have as-well.
Do you want to know a secret? Sometimes, just after dark, I sneak away from Eris, my Tenebre Fox companion, just so I can look at the stars. Eris is overprotective. Did you know that the stars are different in the summer then from in the winter? they are the same stars of course, but they are arranged differently. I can't look at the stars often, in any other season. It gets way too cold, and Eris usually notices my lack of body heat. But in summer, the air is crisp, and cool I agree, but not cool enough to send my packing for my coats.
I also notice a lot of people bring back Rare eggs in Summer. From the long journeys they've been on and so I get to see all these new amazing and rare creatures, that i would probably never see otherwise. So many of them are amazingly beautiful. Others can be kinda scary, but they are always interesting, and I'm never afraid to ask a fellow Magi if I can just have a look at their new friend. Often they say yes, but a few times they have said no, which of course made me sad, But Eris usually cheered me up by playing a trick on the offending Magi. I really shouldn't encourage her, I know, but it is funny, and in her nature to play up plus she never does any harm, usually just scares the poop out of them by suddenly appearing right in their face.
Anyway, I should get back to the sunlight and... to my homework
