Snow had no idea where she was going.

I know that she was following the scent trail, but she was... distracted. She kept looking off into the far away distance with a strange look in her eyes. It was almost as if she was looking into another life that she lived. I began to wonder about who she actually was.

When I leaped over fallen log covered in snow, I began to ask my questions.

"Who are you?" I asked.

"I'm Snow. I thought I told you that already." Snow sounded angry and very, very tired.

"No, I mean like, what are you? Why do you always smell like humans?"

Snow stopped short and swung around. "What?" she snarled.

I growled softly. "When you came to my cave, you smelled a lot like humans. I'm not good with scents, so I'm pretty sure it's obvious!"

"I don't hang around humans, Rain."

"So why do you smell like them?" This conversation was going in circles. "And why are you so forgetful?"

Snow sat with a plop. "I don't know. All I can tell you is that I'm not... fully a wolf."

"What? What do you mean you're not a wolf?"

"I said 'not fully' a wolf. I am one," Snow explained. "Some wolves that I've met call me a shape-shifter. But I don't remember being anything but a wolf!"

"So you're not a wolf, but you are? I'm confused." I cocked my head. Snow was insane.

"Nevermind. It's way too difficult for you to understand." Snow got up and continued along the scent path. Her claws dug small holes in the snow.

I growled and followed her. I was behind an insane wolf who thought she was a shape-shifter, and who would most likely kill my brother. Now I thought I was crazy.
