"Why, young one, a Guardian is one who guards a specific place. I am a Guardian of the Mystical Lake, the place where all wolves go to receive their pack ranks once they are old enough. Eventually, the Elders at the Mystical Lake will decide if you have to join a pack, or remain a Guardian." the Guardian replied. "What's your name?" Sentōki asked, his sky-blue eyes looking up at the larger male with curiosity. The Guardian thought about the pup's question for a while, before replying carefully, "Well, as a Guardian, you don't really need a name. And as such, I've forgotten mine. But I seem to remember being called Ralde in the past." the wolf said.
"We've reached. Behold, the shrine of Mystical Lake!" Ralde said, setting Sentōki down. "This will be your home for the next few moons of your life, or at least until you've finished your training and you're old enough." Ralde told Sentōki. "Come. The Elders are waiting." Ralde said, padding into the shrine. Sentōki followed after the older wolf, and soon saw majestic, if somewhat elderly, wolves standing around. "Kashikoi, I have come with the winged pup. His wings haven't grown yet, but they will soon enough." Ralde told the leader of the elders. Sentōki looked at the wolf who Ralde was talking to, and almost fainted in shock at what he saw. The lead Elder's pelt was crissed-crossed with scars and he only had one ear left. Not only that, his pelt was a startling bright lavender and the Elder's eyes were a deep green. But perhaps the most shocking part was the Elder's large wings, folded across his sides, and his two tails, both tipped with a dark grey.
"You did well, Ralde. The pup will be trained here, and you will train him, since he knows you better than any of us." The lead elder said referring to the elders. "He seems little shocked for words, currently." the old wolf remarked, a slight smile showing on his scarred face. "You may call me Elder, as that's what everyone here calls me, young pup." The elder said. "Ralde, bring him to your den, he'll stay with you for now. Training for this young one starts tomorrow." Elder barked, "And I see he's growing those saber-fangs." Elder commented, before turning away and walking towards the lake.
"Come, Sentōki. Follow me." Ralde said, turning in the opposite direction of where the elder had gone. Ralde's tail hung down, twitching occasionally. Sentōki ran beside Ralde, his short legs making him slower than the older wolf. Whenthe two wolves had reached the back of a rocky outcrop, Ralde told Sentōki to follow behind him, while he checked the den. Ralde then padded forwards cautiously to the from of the rocky outcrop and gestured for Sentōki to go in. "The coast is clear." Ralde said, walking in casually. Sentōki followed, and right during that peaceful moment, snarls erupted from the depth of the cave, and Sentōki was pushed by an alarmed Ralde to a hidden corner. Sentōki peeked out, and saw Dilitiro and Ralde snapping at each other, wolves from the pack of Rocky Mountain surrounding the two. Sentōki gasped when Dilitiro darted forwards and buried his fangs in Ralde's throat, while Ralde struggled to get free from the death-hold. Pausing in his struggles for a moment, Ralde let out a loud howl of distress, before Dilirtiro tightened the hold, and the young guardian fell to the ground, blood pouring from the wound in his open throat. Dilitiro looked around wildly, his red eyes savage, as he searched for Sentōki. "Come out! You can't hide from me!" Dilitiro shouted, as he advanced on Sentōki's hiding spot.
