A life not meant for me

Post by AmunetVanile »

.If you're searching for something different than look no further, this story may entice you and draw you in to a world not meant for any human. A world far away from ours yet so close.

Chapter one: Another day in paradise
Spoiler
There are many definitions of words that could be completely similar or completely opposite in comparison to one another; take for instance the word Irony.
Of course you have your Situational Irony, Dramatic Irony, Socratic Irony and Verbal Irony to list a few. One word that could be interpreted in so many ways. So what happens when you are faced with a word stuck in the same list as this one, a word that has many meanings but here in this place I call home can only be used in one?

To be Parallel to something is to be closely similar or corresponding, as in purpose, tendency, time, or essential parts. In all essence that is true, the time is accurate and completely in line with their’s, the purpose you could say is the same as their’s and we are corresponding and closely similar. What you may be asking by now is who exactly are ‘they’ and what do they have to do with this story; that explanation will be seen throughout the next few paragraphs so stick with it and you will find out exactly what I am Parallel too
--
Now class open your text books to page one hundred and fifty nine where we will be learning about Professor Cedric P Stiles and his discovery of teleporting into different dimensions” a few dramatic sighs could be heard as Adam Farr rolled his eyes and charred the corner’s of his book; the girls in the class admiring him from their desk’s seemed to snicker at what he was doing. It caught me by surprise when he actually raised his hand and waited to be called on.
Yes Mr. Farr, I presume your comment has something to do with our topic in class”.

Well actually, since it’s such a nice day and all I thought we should go outside” this seemed to bring on a laugh from every student except me, the one who actually found this whole thing interesting. Mrs. Wolfe gave a disapproving look toward him before glancing at the others and quieting them down; her next move was one that happened a lot around here, she grabbed the book and just read aloud like we were all school children unable to do it ourselves.

In my discoveries on time lapses between teleporting I discovered that not only was moving great distances disrupting the atmosphere it was also affecting the Parallel world I earlier discovered as Earth-“

Mrs. Wolfe cut herself off as a loud bell caused chairs to screech along the floor and a chorus of voices to interrupt the all too interesting theory of Professor Stiles. I found myself internally sighing as I followed the crowd out the door and entered a hallway one would call Chaos.
Now that School had ended everyone seemed to patter about and converse with their friends; the topic of their conversations and almost everyone around being the party Julia Ula was holding tonight; one that would bring the all to familiar scene of fights and showing off.
How do I know this you may ask? Well in my eyes, maybe not your’s yet I’m not completely out of the Social scene, that’s why I’ll be at that party tonight and I’ll experience everything I’ve seen at other parties, morons making fool’s of themselves.

Did you hear Nallely, about tonight” Ahh yes, the best friend scenario. You may call her Millie like I do, but her real name is Milisha Kile the girl that seem’s to know everything about everyone. Her secret? She’s a mind reader and not one that like’s to keep out of everyone’s business in fact she’s the complete opposite; some could say she’s the person that like’s to people
watch but isn’t really watching, she’s listening.

I suppose by now you’re utterly confused about the whole Charring of textbooks and the Mind reading thing, well perhaps now it’s time to come clean and tell you about my world, the place I call home.
That man you heard about earlier, Professor Stiles was a great Scientist that centuries ago discovered a Parallel universe to our’s that supported life; A planet that is similar to ours in numerous ways, and the People there that call themselves Humans refer to it as Earth.

The beings there though are completely different from us and what I mean by us is the race of Zaida. And I Nallely Vanile am a Zaidain. A race of being’s that descend from ancestors of a hidden gift and or talent. Gifted People that wield ancient powers passed down from generation too generation. Almost every Zaidain has the same power as their parents and in a rare occurrence; 1:10000 Zaidain’s may just end up with a different gift or none at all. And that’s my case you could say, for I have no powers at all.

Chapter two: A roar of excitement
Spoiler
Inside a fairly large stone house with hidden decor and smiling photograph’s that moved Millie and I were deciding just what to wear to the infamous party tonight. She couldn’t decide between this white shirt with a low bodice that revealed some of her dark skin to the awaiting eyes of hounds. And by hounds I do not mean the shifter’s, I mean the population of Male Zaidain’s that cannot seem to keep their hormones too themselves.
At least from what Professor Stiles described in his books, that’s another thing similar with Human males.

Although Millie seemed to ask for attention she wasn’t really that type of person at all; in fact she was just a regular twenty year old that wanted to fit in and be liked by people, that’s part of the reason I enjoyed her company. Call me cruel but I loved watching her make a fool out of other’s or herself and then laughing with her about it afterward.
I think I’ll wear it” my eyes finally rose to meet her’s and we each supported a light smile that brightened the room.
“Does it look right, be honest and I’ll know if you’re lying to me” with a playful smirk I gave my approval and she seemed happy enough with it, the next wile I watched from her velvet bed as she applied make-up and fixed her straight black hair so that it hung loosely over her shoulder’s.

Get ready Nal because you look all messy” at this I somewhat scowled but removed myself from the bed and walked toward a two piece door that I slid open. Slowly closing it behind me I glided across the stone floor and began pulling the silk robe from my body; revealing a very petit pale body that remained untouched from sunlight; or so it looked that way. My five foot two frame stepped into a box that was made of stone and instantly became encased in a waterfall of cold water that fell from somewhere in the ceiling.

When I say somewhere I mean that the water just... Leaked, some days I would just stand in it and study the ceiling but come across nothing. It simply appeared from nowhere and the temperature was always what you preferred; mine being spine curling cold.

I suppose I was one of the few that wondered how everything happened here and didn’t in the Human world that my Idle talked so much about but it wasn’t like I had the opportunity to find out, especially with Millie screaming at me from outside the door’s.

Hurry up because I need the big mirror to admire my outfit” the whole right wall of this bathroom was a mirror so when she said she needed it, I guess she did. With a sigh I finished up and stepped from the mysterious shower that kept me wondering my whole nineteen years; the first thing I grabbed for was a piece of soft fabric that wrapped nicely around me.
Yes calm down I’m d-“
I know” she cut me off before the sentence was done and paraded into the bathroom as though she were ready for a night out on the town; of course she really was ready for that.

After I had finished getting ready we set out toward Julia’s humble abode; Millie could barely contain her excitement and me? Well I was just happy I wasn’t stuck at home tonight, although it would of been nice to just read. To get lost in the real Fantasy called Earth.

You made it, I thought you wouldn’t come Milisha” with a bat of her eyelashes and a small pout she looked toward me in means to ask for approval; of course I didn’t care that she would ditch me for her lover of the year as she did every party so with a light smile I nodded my head and they were off; to wherever they went at parties.

Now it was time for me to grab a drink and drift among the many groups one would see at parties, and then perhaps make my way toward the fights where everyone would be, watching the various talents of people battle against each other to be the best.
The Shifter’s are fighting, Kallie hurry up. They say Mark is looking for someone to battle, he’s so handsome” this seemed to spark my interest for a moment and so with a curious look on my face and a red cup of punch in my hand I made my way toward a overly big arena at the back of Julia’s home.

Pushing past the crowd slowly I found myself sometime’s crawling under legs to make it to the front of the admiring fan’s and cheering male’s; and like the girls had said Mark Javis was directly in the middle of the arena waiting for a real battle.

In the world of Shifter’s he seemed to be the Alpha of them all, everyone knew that if you were dealing with one beast you were dealing with them all. In School you had your Cats, Mutt’s, Winged Beast’s, Large Beast’s, Small one’s, Kind one’s, Cruel one’s and then there was this Guy, the leader of them all. An Alpha Panthera Onca.
A Spotted Jaguar that was looking for an opponent, someone that if taken down would be disowned by his peer’s and dropped to the bottom of the list; a servant of his kind.
The one person Nallely Vanile hated with all of her being.
That person being me.

Chapter Two Scene Two: Masking the Identity of Nallely Vanile
Spoiler
He sneered at others as though he were the best and being a Jaguar I suppose it was his personality, the way he was meant to be. But something about him seemed off and as everyone else around admired I found myself starring not in admiration or desire but in a completely different way; a way that wanted to know what was off about Mark Javis.

Did he do something different to his hair? No of course not, or the girls would be talking about how appealing it was that way. Perhaps he became more Buff? Were his ear’s more perky and spotted today then any other day? No none of these things seemed to be different.

What really caught my eye was a faint piece of white cloth sticking out from under his short’s, a piece of cloth that potentially covered something so no one would sense it; this thing was a wound.

He’s hurt..” somewhat of a smirk came to my face but was quickly washed away as a girl with raging green hair and an olive complexion shook my shoulders.
Oi, what did you say about Mark” I became flabbergasted for a moment but quickly brushed it away as though I said nothing.
Who? I was merely speaking to myself about a friend” this caused the confused look on her face to disappear and an approving smile to place itself on her face.
Oh okay sorry” I quickly moved away from her because I never really found myself in place with the plant people; one’s that had a connection with life itself blah blah blah.
Moving on from that, Mark Javis the one person in this world I loathed was injured and no one beside him and I knew about this, no one else was smart enough to figure it out. I knew his weakness and now in this situation to not take advantage of it would be such a waste.

With a few pushes I made my way out of the crowd and headed into Miss Ula’s abode; avoiding the eyes of everyone and heading upstairs toward a secluded area. Now to tell you something else about me, I knew Ula’s obsession with everything Secret thank’s to an invading Millie and her curious way’s. So when I walked into a dark room that sported everything Masquerade I decided on my plan; a plan to bring Mark Javis down.

When I was younger and my parents saw no sign of their power’s in me they decided to put me in a class where I would learn to defend myself. A class for Normal Zaidain’s that helped them survive in such a dangerous world as this. I learned Tactical thinking in situations, Hand to hand combat with my weapon of choice and of course became mastered in the acrobatic art’s which resulted in many broken bones and bruises. But to this day, I haven’t once had the downside in a fight even when jumped by a powerful opponent. My technique? Use their weaknesses against them.

Slowly I grabbed an outfit that rested on a mannequin and ran my pale fingers over it’s delicate fabric; the color of it a pale blue and white. Without another thought I slipped on the knee length dress that flared out at the bottom and hugged tightly at the chest thank’s to a corset top that would kill anyone if tied to tightly.

It took me a moment to ready the piece of cloth but finally when I did I found my fingertips brushing over a beautifully designed mask with embedded black beads surrounding the white fabric around the eyes. Gently I brought the piece to my face and tied the ribbon back so my blue curls fell helplessly over my shoulders and down the back; the outfit masking my identity and hiding the fact that I was indeed Nallely, a person that sported no powers and seemed helpless.

“I suppose it’s time to show him just exactly what losing is” as I spoke to myself for a moment in reassurance everything seemed to become clear; was I really going to do this? To fight in front of my peer’s just to make something even, to show that someone may possibly be better then Mark. Sure as hell I was.

Along the way to the Arena out back I felt myself safe in this outfit, like nothing on the outside world could touch me when I was masked like this, a mysterious being no one knew nothing about. It was as though I were small once again, finding out everyone’s powers for the first time and learning about which one’s to avoid. I was finally that person.

Come on wont anybody challenge me” it was easy to tell he was becoming tired of waiting and the aggression he had inside was beginning to show.
I’ll do it” it surprised me for a moment at the sound of my own voice, so sure and positive.

A few whisper’s radiated around the many beings that stood but as always they moved away so Mark’s challenger could get into the Arena; oh wait. That person was me.
Swiftly I moved past them all on light feet and felt the cool stone on my feet that seemed to wash away any tension that may have radiated from my small frame, the same one that seemed so untouched hours ago.

But you’re a girl” this brought about roars of laughter but quickly everyone quieted down; afraid they would miss something important from the one they didn’t know.
You new around here, who are you” he seemed curious for a moment but quickly wiped it away, a serious look falling across his face as we locked eyes. His black orb’s swirled with spot’s and attempted to make me cower in fear, but knowing his ways I just glanced up and starred, the deep blue glaze of mine causing him to break contact.

Okay whatever let’s just do this” and so the fight had begun; the cheering was there and the tense feeling returned to the fairly large Arena, oh hell let’s just call it a death pit. My meek frame against his towering one, the only thing separating us from one another was a few centimeters of space and a whole lot of aggression.

Chapter Three: A fight worthy of recording
Spoiler
He advanced slowly and watched as though circling a prey it was about to devour this scene made those that were watching excited with anticipation on how it would play out. Many around made bet’s about the outcome of this fight and to no surprise everyone bet against me.

All the playing ceased as he lowered down and readied himself for a lunge, my eyes instantly moving themselves toward his leg that he seemed to put less pressure on.
Good it’s actually hurting’ the thought to myself was quick as my body stood still and I awaited the oncoming attack, no weapon in sight. Yet.

If I knew Mark he wouldn’t completely phase until he was ready to finish off an opponent so for now his weakness remained secretive despite the piece of cloth that hung from his short’s.
Here kitty kitty” I bantered on as he quickly became furious, another weakness that came along with every shifter, their temper. Lurching forward he ran at the speed only a beast would and on instinct drew his claws and aimed for my face.

Sidestepping his un thought out attack was easy and as though I were light as air my body moved left and my feet crossed one another in a manner that would move someone away from something quite efficiently. He skimmed past leaving only inches between us and came to a sudden stop when realizing he had ‘missed’.

I looked down at my arm and caught a trickle of blood before it touched the ground; the sight of it causing a confused look to overtake my once confident appearance.
How-“
I’m still to quick for you, move all you want I’ll still win” he turned now and starred with a devious grin that could possibly take down an opponent on it’s own; despite my bad judgement of the space I made between us I knew I couldn’t lose.

Perhaps I should have mentioned the outcome of the loser’s in these fights; the fight’s that so many people participated in at parties. Zaidain’s when challenged are to fight until one die’s and therefore proving that they are stronger, or spared and made into servant’s of their kind. Perhaps that is why Mark Javis got away with murder so many years ago. Our world, loved death.

Swiftly I backed up and bent slightly to remove a pair of metal things that were fixated in a leather strap around my tiny leg, four holes in the top of the blade were made to specially fit my hand’s. These of course were my weapon’s of choice. Their silver surface shimmered in the overhead light as some creatures around gasped with excitement, the fight was really just beginning.

Kill her Mark! Come on” a sort of chanting arose from the males of the watcher’s and out of the corner of my glazed eyes I spotted Millie; a scared look on her face. Of course she could tell which one was me, if one really wanted they could tell who anyone was because we all sported markings that were passed down through generation’s of families. Mine? A set of blue lines that started on my shoulders and ended in a point mid back.

I was pulled from thought as a very painful blow was made to my un accepting stomach that seemed to beg for purging. I think perhaps I may just throw up. An unhealthy scratching could be heard as I fell back and scraped along the hard stone which tore into my bare legs and arm’s. A constant cheering being heard as he readied another attack.

He was already beginning to grow larger and I knew that he would Phase very soon to finish me off; this thought was something I thought impossible earlier when I decided to take advantage of his wound. Ahh yes his wound, I couldn’t forget about that. My eyes made contact with his and swiftly he moved forward with a striking kick, my arms grasping his leg just as he pushed it forward. With all the strength I could muster a meek arm drew back and then pushed forward with a force even I thought impossible.

The impact drew blood from the both of us for my weapon was turned inward so I could grasp the blade in fear of cutting into his flesh too deeply, to be honest that crimson liquid somewhat scared me. He roared in pain at his wounded leg and staggered for a moment as I quickly pulled myself to my feet and moved in for another strike.

A pain in my legs slowed me down slightly for many chunks of skin had been scraped off and part’s of the muscles could be touched if one wanted to; but of course I hope no one is as disgusting as that. I tried everything I knew and still it seemed as though the only damage I had done was to a previously made wound. He was quick to throw me then against a wall I hadn’t noticed earlier; and to tell you all it hurt me more then anything had in my entire life.

The broken bones I acquired from training could not compare to the sickening crunch heard when I made contact with the wall. Blood seemed to ooze from my head and coat the previously untouched floor and in my fading state I could hear Millie screaming from the crowd. I stood with a blank expression and realized that this wasn’t a game; and that Mark Javis was aiming to kill me.

Now in the state I was in the blades I had previously turned inside my own hand’s were put outward and their shimmering tips smeared with blood screamed death. With a quick swipe to the side I watched as his eyes seemed to dance along with my every move and in my torn up position the moved we not very fast.S
Left.. Right.. Backward.. Foreword.. Under.. A slight jump.. Run. With any strength I could find I ran toward him and raised my arm as though I would potentially attack his left side. Mark Javis was not a stupid one so of course he blocked both left and right and even his front; this leaving under very exposed.

Quickly I crossed my arms and dropped to the floor with the same speed I had mustered throughout the run and slid scraping up my back even more under his opened legs and without another thought kicked upward and sent him to the ground with a smack.

Internally I was screaming for all of this to stop; a Normal fighting someone gifted. But in that moment he was down I felt myself stagger on top of him and place a single blade to his neck, the metal already cutting into his spotted skin.
You’ve been beaten” my blood dripped onto his face as our eyes starred into one other in an array of emotions only we could explain. He knew who I was and I was not going to deny it.
Now kill me” I felt him heave under me and in a sight of disgust I got off him and walked aimlessly from his laying body and out of the death pit we all called Arena’s.
Spared”.

As I moved out of sight from everyone I felt myself collapse into the cool grass and accept the dew covered blades in a comforting manner. If Mark Javis hadn’t left his legs open only moment’s ago during the fight then I would of been out of options, he would have killed me. The thought ran through my mind as I closed my eyes and attempted to advert the pain away; I had won due to sheer luck.
