Light filtered through the trees of the Silvia Forest. In a small clearing sat a girl with chocolate brown hair that fell to her waist and deep brown eyes to match. A small kitten with calico fur and a forked tail sat by her side, watching her master’s every move. Riley had tried over and over to grow juniper berries and had no such luck. As a floral magi, Riley should have been able to grow all different plants at will. Summoning all her concentration, she attempted once more to grow the pale berries. Thanks to all her determination, Riley was able to grow a small bush that wasn’t even half a foot tall. It had tiny pale blue berries that were no bigger than marbles.
Clover, the female Calico Tienko, curiously trotted over to the small bush and sniffed the berries. She opened her small mouth and quickly pulled off one of the juniper berries. She chewed it and swallowed to then let out a joyful meow. She continued to pick the berries off the bush with her master watching, proud of her accomplishment.
When Clover’s belly was soon filled with berries, Riley quickly picked her up and ran to the edge of the forest. With the kitten in hand, Riley whistled for Lusa, her trusty Noctis Enox, who soon swooped down overhead. Riley had barely mounted when Lusa took off again in the direction of Echo Keep. Clover mewed in fear and buried herself deeper into Riley’s chest. Clouds whipped past them and underneath them, a small river containing many colorful eggs flowed. They approached a large castle shelter in the distance. The walls were made up of silver-grey bricks with many different creatures roaming the meadow around it.
Lusa gracefully landed in an unoccupied space. She whinnied and gave a shake to her head, where many purple spikes resided. They sun had started setting and Riley dismounted with the relieved Tienko in her arms. Creatures greeted her on the way to the keep. Kitsunes and Winged Cats followed in a huge pack of creatures as Riley walked to the keep entrance, all wanting to be petted by their returned master. Her green cloak flowed gracefully around her as she open the large doors of Echo Keep.
A boy with a dark blue cloak and blonde hair looked at Riley and said “Took you long enough! Were you able to grow any plants or did you sit and watch the grass grow?†Sarcasm was clear in his voice and mock showed in his crystal blue eyes.
"Shut up, Jack,†Riley said to the blue eyed boy and threw him a usual death glare with rage in her brown eyes. “All you can do is spray water at the next person who annoys who,†She pointed out to the water magi.
A small black puppy raced over to Riley, his tail wagging. Electric yellow sparks flew from his pelt with excitement and licked the floral magi.
“I prefer your Raiju over you,†Riley said and pet the excited little hatchling. “Clearly, Sparkie is much nicer than you.â€Â
“Riley! You’re back!†Another boy with a silver cloak and jet black hair greeted Riley sweetly.
“Yeah, I’m back. Thanks Sam,†She smiled back at him and looked at Jack shamefully while the wind magi, Sam, wasn’t looking.
“Were you able to grow anything?†Sam asked with curious emerald eyes.
Jack started coughing very suddenly and it sounded remotely like the words “Noâ€Â.
Riley looked at Jack and considered to hit him over the head with something heavy, but decided to reveal the truth, just to prove him wrong.
“Yup! I grew a small bush of juniper berries, but this little girl ate them all,†Riley said and looked down at the now sleeping Clover.
Off Sam’s shoulder jumped a Silver Alicanto hatchling. It chirped as it tried to wake Clover up and bounced around Riley’s arms.
“Come here, Casper,†Sam told the friendly Alicanto who loyally flew over to his master.
Riley’s graze scanned the room once more and noticed someone was missing.
“Guys?†Riley said, and both the boys looked at her curiously. “Where’s my brother?â€Â
