This takes place in Siren's Point Keep. When the keep came into Lorelei's care, the surrounding area and area underneath had been modified, using magic, to suit the needs of all creatures.

SnuggleMuffins- Lorelei's Nandi Bear. (one of them)

Naftali Rotenstrike- A young man around Lorelei's age that lives in the town closest to her keep. Amanra's younger twin brother.
Amanra Rotenstrike- A young woman around Lorelei's age. Naftali's older twin sister.
Ymiros Hraesvelg 'Ymir'- An Ice Magi around Lorelei's age, heir to a noble family in Synara.
'Uncle' Dave- An older man who brought Lorelei to The Keep. A fire magi.
(no name currently know)- A person in a dark purple robe who seems to be interested in Lorelei.
Book 1 The Finding Chapter 1 Wherein Lorelei leaves to hunt trolls.
Lorelei gave out a soft sigh as she stared up at the evening sky from the top of her keep. She hadn't found anything to do all day, just like the day before that, and the day before that, and the day before that... or any of the days in the past few weeks. She had checked her eggs and hatchlings, made sure all was well in the areas around her keep, and managed to avoid a history lesson from Shivanu and Balius... all in all, a pretty boring day. No quests, no messages, no explosions... not even a fight between her Mist Stalkers and Panthers! At least the sun was going down. Maybe she could get some star-gazing in. Or sleep. Sleep sounded good. But her stomach rumbled in hungry protest. She stared at it in dismay. Why was she hungry now? She wanted to go to sleep!
She flopped back down with a huff. Maybe if she left it long enough, it would stop. As if it were calling for food, her stomache grumbled again. Right on cue, a plate of delicious smelling food was placed by her head. Tilting backwards, she came face to face with the housekeeper, Aurora.
Since Lorelei had first come to Siren's Point, the housekeeper had been taking great care of her.
At first, she [Lorelei] had been a little freaked out when the woman had managed to sneak up behind her; but after several weeks she had become pretty used to it. Another odd thing was how the woman seemed to know Lorelei's own needs better than the fire magi herself did. She knew when Lorelei was hungry, or cold... many a time she had found herself getting up to get a snack, only to find the other coming in with a plate of cookies. Lorelei pushed those thoughts away. She would ponder this some other time; when she had a full stomach, probably.
"Thanks." She mumbled, pushing herself up and twisting around.
She was mostly eye-to-eye with the woman, the top step wasn't that far down from the roof... if it could be called a roof. It was the top of the keep's tower, and it was designed like any other castle tower. Round, with turrets circling it. The stairway was the top of a long circular one that ran the entire height of the castle, with landings at each floor. The design made it nearly impossible for anyone to walk up it without being seen... if one was paying attention. Aurora's voice snapped Lorelei out of her reverie.
"No problem, Lorelei. I thought you might be hungry." The earth magi's smile grew and she sat on the top step. "Lovely evening, isn't it?"
"Mm." Lorelei grunted in agreement; too busy stuffing her face to talk.
"Well, Lorelei... I know you have had nothing to do much these past few days, so I was wondering if you might want to help me out with something? Or rather, help some people out with something."
Lorelei waved one free hand for her to continue.
"Well, recently a village near here has been bothered by a number of trolls, and the trolls have been stealing a lot of their food, and some livestock. While this isn't as bad as it would be farther north, it is still bad. They are loosing their livelihoods."
Lorelei let out a contented sigh. The food had been wonderful, as always. She glanced sideways at the earth magi. "And you want me to go and kill them?"
"Kill them? Only if you must. Simply... teach them to avoid human settlements."
Lorelei stood up, brushing any crumbs that may have remained.
"All right. Shouldn't be too hard."
"No, it shouldn't." Together, the two Magi walked down the stairs.

"So, where are you going again?"
Lorelei rolled her eyes. "I already said. To Mynard, to scare off some trolls. They attack in the early morning, which is why I'm leaving now." Honestly, it was the third time Shivanu had asked her. Did Nagas have some sort of memory issue when it came to travel plans?
"And who are you taking?" Centaurs must have it as well. Balius had asked that several times as well.
"Like I said before, SnuggleMuffins and Aten. Seriously, what is with you two?" Lorelei pulled on a small pack; Aten, one of her Sacred Scarabs, was perched on her head. And she wouldn't have gone anywhere without SnuggleMuffins. The Nandi Bear was shadowed her whenever she left.
"To Mynard, you said? To scare trolls? Why?" Lorelei had to resist throttling her Ally. "Because they have been attacking the settlement and stealing food and livestock.
"I see... Lorelei, Don't-" She cut the Naga off with a wave of her hand.
"Stop right there. I don't want to know. I'm going to go now." Without waiting for an answer she turned and dashed up the stairs. She really didn't want to get a lecture on... well, whatever he was going to lecture her on. Besides, even if she left right that second it was still a several hour journey to Mynard; she didn't have the time.
Shivanu sighed and looked at Balius.
"Why does she never listen?"
"She's human, my friend. They don't seem to be so good at listening."
"Yes... you're right. But this is odd, though."
"Hmm, why is that?"
"Because even in the worst case scenario, I have never heard of a troll attacking a village."

Ooh! Intriguing ending! And I like how you sketched out Lorelei's character so well in so short a chapter, and also gave the reader a decent idea of her two allies' personalities as well. My only criticism is that the different colored-dialogue is a little distracting. But otherwise, great so far! I can't wait to read more!

Thanks! I think it isn't half bad, considering I wrote it in the past...hour and a half. I'll probably come back and edit it later on though. I'm glad you like it, regardless.
Book 1 The Finding Chapter 2 Wherein Lorelei meets a mysterious figure.
After traveling a good part of the night, Lorelei could finally see the town of Mynard, which looked rather lonely in the early morning light. The town made most of its money in fishing and shipping, and as a result many water magi called it home.
Lorelei shivered. She wasn't too fond of water magi-or any magi who didn't use fire. Not to say she didn't have friends who were magi of the other elements, she just found she got along better with other fire magi.
She was brought out of her musings when SnuggleMuffins stopped. While the Nandi Bear hadn't really been running, his abrupt stop nearly unseated her.
"Eh? Snuggles, what's up?" She glanced down at the bear, then back at the road. She saw nothing, but that didn't mean there wasn't anything. After a moment or two he began walking again. Her brow furrowed. She'd have to ask him later what that was about. He might not tell her, though.
As they rounded a bend in the road, she had an idea why. In the middle of the road, as if waiting for someone, stood a person shrouded by a purple hooded cloak. There was the barest hint of movement, and Lorelei had a feeling the figure was looking at them. She shivered, as the figure chuckled softly.
"You're late. I've been waiting a long time." Their voice had the light melodic quality of a woman's voice, but at the same time the confidence and deepness of a man's voice, How that was possible, Lorelei didn't know, but there it was.
Lorelei looked at the figure suspiciously. "Waiting for me...?"
Another soft laugh. "Of course. Did you think I meant your nandi bear?"
Lorelei rolled her eyes. "I meant why. Why were, slash, are you waiting for me?"
"Why shouldn't I?"
"That isn't an answer. Why were you waiting for me?"
"Isn't it obvious?"
"No. Now tell me."
"Why should I?"
"Because I'll burn you to a crisp!" By now she was getting really annoyed. Smoke startled to rise from her fists, and small embers appeared on her body before quickly burning out.
"Am I supposed to be frightened?"
"Are you going to answer me or just keep spouting rhetorical questions?"
"Do you really want me to answer that?"
Lorelei growled in frustration. This jerk was just messing around with her! She held up her hand which now had threads of fire dancing along her fingers. "Lets just cut the crap and get down to business. Why were you waiting for me?" The fire brightened ominously, waves of shimmering heat appearing around the flames.
The stranger shrugged. "I simply wanted to meet you. I was told you were interesting... And they were right. You are a most interesting person."
Lorelei gave an exasperated groan. "That's why you were waiting for me? Just so you could annoy me?! I don't have time for this. I have something I need to take care of!"
"If you are referring to the troll problem, it's been solved."
"Wh-what? When? By who?!" If she had spent all night traveling for nothing... somebody would pay.
"Why not even an hour ago. And the who is inconsequential."
"Inconsequential my foot! I just rushed over here in the dead of night, and now I find that I didn't need to?!"
"It appears that way."
She HAD traveled all night for nothing. She didn't notice it, but the tips of her hair were alight, and smoke was practically pouring off her.
"I apologize for the inconvenience. If I had known you wanted to take care of the problem this much, I would have left it for you."
That made her stop for a moment. "Wha...? I'm not upset because I wanted to do it, I'm upset because I could have been doing something else! Like sleeping!"
"Ah. I see..." It sounded as though they were frowning. "Well, the only thing I can tell you is that the villagers are looking forward to seeing you. Especially one young man... named Naftali, I believe."
Lorelei glared at the stranger. "Well that's all fine and good, but that doesn't make up for the hours me and SnuggleMuffins spent heading here! And Aten too, but he's been asleep for most of the time, so he doesn't really count." She muttered the last part, looking pouty.
"Well, I can find no way to-" They stopped short. "...Did you say SnuggleMuffins?" There was a hint of amusement in their voice.
SnuggleMuffins growled at the figure while Lorelei glared. "Yeah. I did. What of it?! Is it wrong of me to name my companions something like that?! You think it's childish?! Maybe it is, but Snuggles likes his name! And then when I call for him to help me against bad people their all like 'SnuggleMuffins?! Ooohnoo, I'm sooo scared!' and then Snuggles charges in all 'GRAAAR!' and rips their faces off!" She looked at the stranger defiantly.
There was a long pause. When the stranger spoke, there seemed to be restrained laughter in their voice. Or maybe they thought she was insane. She could never tell those two apart. "I... see... Sure. It makes perfect sense." They nodded. "...Ahem. As I was saying, I can find no way to help you, except to perhaps offer you some gold for an inn." The person rummaged around in their cloak and pulled out several coins, holding them out. Their hand was pale and soft-looking, but the fingers seemed bigger than a woman's.
Lorelei eyed them distrustfully. "How do I know you aren't going to try and hurt me when I come take them from you...?"
The figure gave an exasperated sigh. "Don't you think if I had wanted to hurt you I would have done so already?"
"You could be trying to get me to lower my guard!"
She could sense that the stranger was trying not to get angry, which happened to people around her a lot. Their shoulders were tensed, and the one hand she could see had balled into a fist. When they spoke, their voice was clam and measured.
"...Yes. I could. But I'm not. Seeing as how you don't trust me, how about I leave the coins here?" They placed them on the ground and stepped away.
"Now I must be off... but I have an important message for you."
They stepped back and took a deep breath. When they spoke again, their voice had an eerie quality to it; as if foretelling her doom.
"Where ice and snow meet the waters blue
You will find some companions true.
Fear not the Forest's rage,
And you shall be able to break the cage."
The took another step back. The sun was a sliver of light behind the person, and as it rose, the brightness made Lorelei's eyes water. When she blinked to clear them, the stranger was gone. There were no footprints; the only proof that there had ever been someone there at all was the small pile of coins sitting in the road, and the echo of the 'message' ringing in her head.
It took several moments for her thoughts to sort themselves out. She looked down at SnuggleMuffins.
"Well that was weird." The bear huffed in agreement.
"Nice of them to leave us gold, though." She hopped off and walked over to the pile. She prodded it carefully. When nothing happened, she picked the coins up. "Well, lets head into town. I'm exhausted, and I'm sure you must be, too." She started heading along the road. SnuggleMuffins gave a small growl and lumbered after.

Note for chapter: If anyone has ever heard Ryoji from Persona3, the person talks like this. If not, you should find videos of him on youtube. And if that doesn't help you figure out what gender they should/will be, you will have to wait a long time.

Some family issues came up, and I didn't like the second chapter. So I'm redoing it; adding a major character. Mostly so I can post the extra I started around V-day. I also got minecraft, but I'm sure that has nothing to do with the little writing I've been doing.
