An Empty Heart (an Naruto fanfic)

Post by StormRiser »

Prologue
Two days had passed since the massacre. One girl walked alone. She was the only survivor of her Clan. Her hair was a deep brown-blonde gradient, and she had eyes like the emeralds buried deep in the caverns. Long wet grass whipped her legs as she walked. She took no notice, eyes void of emotion. This is the result of seeing your friends, your family: everyone you ever knew, slaughtered before your very eyes. Her name was Una, and she had an empty heart.

The morning sun burned brightly above Konoha in the early morning. A young girl by many names travelled along the dirt path towards the joyful village. Her eyes scanned every detail of the surrounding forest – from the largest tree to the smallest beetle.
“Hey! Stop where you are!”
Two men dressed in the usual Anbu attire – consisting of a green vest, black pants, ninja sandals, and a chosen shirt – landed in front of the child. She stared at down at the dirt, grounding a shoe through some stones underfoot.
“What’s your-”
The brunette male lets out a gruff sound of pain as a wire slices through his pant-leg. His partner pulls out a kunai with one hand and supports his friend with the other. On their foreheads are the symbol of the Village Hidden in the Leaves – a spiral with a spike protruding from the lower-left corner and a line coming from the opposite.
Now, the lone girl looks up with a stoic face. “Night sky, dark light, say good-bye,” she whispers. A wicked grin makes it way past her sealed lips. The injured ninja screams as he’s once again attacked. A light sprinkle of blood flecks onto her pale skin.
“Night sky, dark light, say good-bye. Watching from the shadows, watching you bleed.”
Another scream.
“Throw a knife, lose a life, say good-bye.”
Silence.
The wind shakes a branch. A loose leaf falls from the tree and glides to land in a pool of crimson blood.
“Should’ve said good-bye,” the brunette’s voice suddenly went cheerful and happy; a complete opposite of her previous actions. Grabbing the stained thread, she gave it a sharp yank, freeing it from the tangle of trees she had wrapped it around. Once she had gathered the string, her hands shaped it into a small hoop which she hooked onto a small catch resting on the dusty brown belt she wore.
With a final glance around, the girl retreated into the thick canopy above before jumping in the direction of her hide-out.[/left]
