(Found this again! Woohoo!)
"There you are!" I barely had time to breathe before my brother had leaped on top of us and wrapped his tail tightly around us. "Isn't this so awesome? I'm an apprentice at last! That means you'll be soon!"
I didn't tell him how much I wanted to be one now. Instead, I pulled back and purred, "I can't wait either!"
Spottedkit looked up at him, and asked, "How long will we have to wait? It's not fair!"
Leopardpaw laughed. "Don't worry, it'll happen before you know it, I promise."
"Hi Leopardpaw!" said a voice. I looked around to see a bright ginger cat heading over to Leopardpaw. Her eyes fluttered as she looked at him, and she pushed inbetween him and Spottedkit.
"What are you doing talking to these kits?" she asked. "You're an apprentice now, you should be talking to us!"
"Honeypaw, these are my siblings, Spottedkit and Tanglekit," he sighed.
"Oh! Oh, how sweet," she said vaguely, before turning back to him, her voice completely sugarcoated. "So, I made a nest for you in our den. Right next to me." She fluttered her eyes again, and giggled like an idiot.
"Oh, thanks for the offer Honeypaw, but Flowerpaw already made me one next to Swiftpaw and Loudpaw. You know, so I wouldn't be the youngest."
"Oh. I'll see you later then," she purred, trailing her tail over his shoulder as she left.
"That was so creepy, I don't even want to think about it," muttered Spottedkit. Leopardpaw pulled a face, and I tried unsuccessfully not to giggle.

Suddenly, there was a loud scream. I looked around, and noticed something very weird. The light was rapidly fading, almost as though it was becoming night.
"What's happening?!" gasped Spottedkit in terror. "Where's the sun going?"
To every cat's horror, it was vanishing.
"The sun is dying!" howled Eagletail, running towards us. "Get into the nursery, kits! Leopardpaw, to your den! Every cat get inside!"
"No." Grassstem stepped out into the open, every cats' eyes trained on him. "There must be an explaination for this."
"It must be the ancestors!" gasped Leopardpaw.
"It cannot be. They have no reason to send such a sign, not when I can tell what they wish in the flow of the river."
His apprentice Darkfur said hesitantly, "I agree with Leopardpaw. It is a sign!"
Grassstem turned to his apprentice, then nodded. "We must wait. If it does not come back -"
He had no need to finish his sentence.
"It's coming back!" gasped a black tom with delight. "The sun is returning!"

I heard cries of relief all around me, but stayed focused on Grassstem. Was it just me, or was his expression full of anger?
"Every cat, calm down!" ordered Dawnstar loudly. "The sun has returned, we have no need to panic. We must return to business as usual. The Gathering will be in a few days time, so we can discuss the vanishing sun then. Lilystem, please sort out the patrols."
The cats started to leave the clearing. Suddenly, Grassstem rushed up to Dawnstar and whispered something in her ear. She stared at him in surprise, then nodded.
"That was so scary!" gasped Spottedkit. "Come on, I'm starving!"

I rolled my eyes at my sister's craziness, then headed after her. I wasn't hungry, but I felt the need for normality.
"Why did it happen?" I asked my mother as I lay down to sleep.
"I don't know, Tanglekit," she sighed. "But don't worry about it. It's back now, and Grassstem will figure out what it means, I promise."
I wanted to tell her how the medicine cat did not believe in our ancestors, that he was convinced everything happened randomly. But I didn't. Something told me to remain silent.
"Good night Tanglekit," purred my mother.
"Good night..."

"Hey Tanglekit! Guess what?" Rainkit shot into the den, her fur fluffed up in excitement.
"What?" I asked, forcing myself up. It had been four months since the incident now known as the Vanishing Sun, and I had just begun to discover my powers. I knew what Rainkit was thinking before she said the words.
"We're being made apprentices! Isn't that awesome?" She was leaping around excitedly. I was delighted, but one small thing was nagging at the back of my mind. It seemed like I had more than one power. Just by looking at Rainkit, I could tell by the colour of the air around her how she was feeling. Right now, it was a super bright orange, meaning she was super excited. I was pretty sure mine would be a kind of dirty grey, meanign I was tired and didn't want to do anything.

"Let all cats join in the Glade for a Clan meeting!"
As Dawnstar's voice echoed around the clearing, I felt excitement begin to sweep away the exhaustion. I rushed to take my place next to Spottedkit. I had never, ever felt so excited!
"Today, we welcome six new apprentices," she said warmly, looking down. "Rainkit, Spottedkit, Waterkit, Wildkit, Hawkkit, and Tanglekit, please come forward."
I forced myself to walk calmly instead of racing over.
"Rainkit. Do you promise to begin your training as a loyal LoveClan warrior well, and to be the best you can be to help your Clan?"
"I do," she said, shaking with excitement.
"Then, Darkflower, I give you Rainpaw as your apprentice. Train her well."
Spottedpaw got Twilightspark, Waterpaw got Rabbitclaw, Wildpaw got Eagletail (our father), and Hawkpaw got Brackenheart. Finally, I was called.
"Then, Wildfire, I give you Tanglepaw as your apprentice. Train her well."
She purred briefly, then said, "The meeting is over."
