Ah, yes. I usually have an unlimited amount of non-css slots, because I only got a few requests at a time and could easily make them, but now that my time is a bit more limited and I got a huge amount of orders I closed the non-css requests temporarily as well. The current ones are giving me enough pressure already and if I just took an endless list of requests I'd probably never get anything done as the task would seem overpowering. 
I think I might add a permanent limit to the non-css requests as well in the future, since I work faster when I don't have quite this many pending requests at once. 
I've been adding a few freebies on the first page every now and then without any separate announcement, mainly a couple of signature sets and a few buddy icons. I've been quite busy with getting the Image Free Nursery back online, which means less attention to graphics requests, but now that the Nursery is up and running I can start concentrating on these again so expect some finished requests in a few days.
