Welcome to my little art nook. Since my time on MS is limited by school these days and I'm always in need of stock critters, I'm going to give this a try. (That and I need an excuse to permanently disfigure my lecture notes with random graphite markings

)

-Revamped the thread. Added option of pure gold payment. Split up request categories. Added pygmy dolphins to point list.

-Edited DP pricing and put up a separate list for those nice people who wish to pay with them. This list will be open at all times (anticipating big requests that come sporadically)

-Increased worth of SB Farirs to 2 points, added Alt. Farirs to price list. Farirs are also now on the priority list.

- Set up thread. Albino Nandi and Chupas added to priority list. All collected will go to the Caught Being Nice quest help shop stock.

Stuff to be addressed:

- Standard TOS for Magistream apply. All original work used as reference belong to their respective creators.

- I do digital and the odd traditional piece, but not spriting because I never really learnt how to :tard:

- I can do MS fanart and other animal-related stuff (e.g. Pokémon, or non-fantasy animals). Not as good with human characters but I can try.

- All initial requests to be posted in this thread. I may PM you for further details.

- You may pay in gold or creatures. When paying with Gold + Creatures, follow the point value (with 1 point = 2,000g)

- For gold-only payment, post your request and I will quote you a price within the given range.

- I will open a fixed number of slots for requests, the number depending on my workload and time available. A rough gauge of when slots will be open, as well as regular progress updates will be provided in this thread.

- Please clear any outstanding payments with me before making a new request, else it won't be queued.

- You can PM me for a progress update and WIP if I haven't finished your request 2 weeks after your post. Please note that more details = more time required to finish your request.

- You may not use my work in this thread without permission of the one who requested it and myself. You may, however, use whatever you commissioned from me in any way you like on this site short of claiming that you drew it

DP-Payment Requests - Any Donation Pet
A DP is like a wildcard and you can pretty much request for anything I can do. For example: a background, more subjects, awesomecomplicated stuff. If you'd like something simple and doodle-like but wish to pay with a DP go ahead; you'll get a very pretty doodle

^these are the minimum standard for each category. If the muse is in a good mood and school is kind to me you might get something more detailed with no extra charge

*** - Number of subjects are negotiable. I price based on time spent so if you want say 4 subjects for 25 points it will be very simplified and cartoonish, as opposed to having 1 subject only.

Creatures should be unfrozen, unnamed, unlineaged and of either streamborn, 1st gen for bred/shop/event critters (or 1.5gen for hippogryphs) or below except the new farirs which should be shortest gen possible, and Albino Nandi Bears, which can be any gen.

Random Progress Log of Amkorra's Halloween Winged Cat Request.
Because I was bored.

Step 1
Sketched out a draft to decide where things should be placed. Relative size, posture &etc. Lots of ditching of layers, erasing and resizing, so I like to do each subject on different layers as I can manipulate them independently. For Doodle-type of pictures I usually use a non-black colour to sketch, but since this is going to be a bigger piece I used different colours for each subject (cat, pumpkin and wings).

Step 2
I don't plan to have lines for this pic, so let's jump straight into getting the base colours down. Orange and clear edges for the pumpkin and dark grey for the cat. I left a little extra stuff along the cat's edges so I can mess with them later. We'll leave the wings alone first.

Step 3
Resized image to make it smaller - I started off with an A5 sized canvas. Now it's about 1500px tall. Changed the background colour so that I can see the orange more easily and added some base colours on the pumpkin.

Step 4
Did some preliminary shading.

Step 5
Added some light blobs. Shall leave the pumpkin alone for now and work on the cat.

Step 6
Sketched a rough outline of the cat's body; positioning of limbs &etc. Smudged the lines to give a basic fur guide.

Step 7
Added more fur.

Step 8
Added a layer of black for contrast. Drew the base shape of the eyes. Tweaked the opacity of the fur layers

Step 9
Did up eyes.

Step 10
Added a white layer for added contrast and some details to the face and ears.

Step 11
Added whiskers, did up the nose and added another layer of black over the white.

Step 12
Made the cat's left foreleg more even, more details on the cat's face and added shadows on the legs and tail.

Step 13
Added cat's shadow on the pumpkin and drew the base of the pumpkin's face.

Step 14
Drew the inside layer of the pumpkin and shaded it.

Step 15
Lighting effects and fire in the pumpkin.

Step 16
Shading effects on pumpkin after the face is added

Step 17
Some highlights to contrast the shadows.

Step 18
Started on the wings (finally). Changed the background colour so that I can see the colours better. Sketched actual outlines of the wings.

Step 19
Changed the background colour for better visibility. Filled in colour for the wings' base layer. It was a painful process >.>;;

Step 20
Filled in the inner yellow layer of the wings. I used outer glow with custom settings for the pale yellow outline.

Step 21
Added the wing tips

Step 22
Added some more colours and basic shading.

Step 23
Added highlights and more shadows for the back wing.

Step 24
Smudged the bottom of the front wing and added a glowy thing to make it look less like it's some detached part.

Step 25
Did up a background. Yay for grunge.

Step 26
Added frame and border.

Aaaaaand we're done :3
Tweaked the shadows, added some minor details like the grooves in the pumpkin's eyes and mouth and messed around with opacity settings. Took me ~24 hours from start to finish, I think.

The frame brushes are from Lileya's Fancy Frames set, Grunge brushes and butterfly from spiritsighs-stock and the foliage in the background is done using GVL's Vine Brushes. Everything else is done using Photoshop's basic brushes and my tablet.

Even More Random Musings:
My Doodles usually have lineart so I have to take care to make the lines visible and even. Because my hand wobbles over my tablet I sometimes have to duplicate the lines and erase bits of it so it'll turn out okay. I know that people use the pen tool for this but I still can't get the hang of it :x

For Doodles, I go about colouring in this manner: Base colour -> Shading -> Highlights. Followed by whatever fine-tuning required such as colouring in the eyes/noses/more shadows &etc. 'S why all my Doodles have this certain style to them. I do tend to spend more time than what I allocate for myself for the Doodles though, which is why sometimes they end up more detailed than the examples I've provided in the first post.

As you guys can probably tell, the smudge tool is my best friend which I repay with shameless abuse. I rarely use the dodge/burn tool and most of my shading is done using pure eye power i.e. what looks good and what doesn't

I never had formal photoshop training so everything is either via trial and error or from online tutorials, and sometimes I suspect I'm taking the long way 'round for stuff when there's actually a shortcut involving a couple of filters... or the pen tool :x

hmm.. since I watched Riddik yesterday I somehow want Art of these awesome creautes he mets in this prison with these mirror eyes like him... Do you know these critters? If yes:
