I really adore Lovecraftian horror (work written or inspired by the author H.P. Lovecraft, who wrote Call of Cthulhu and created his own mythos) - something about cosmic horror and there being lurking creatures/ancient gods that are beyond human comprehension is just really cool to me.
I also love scifi and urban/dark fantasy.
Which genre of books is the most interesting?

Re: Which genre of books is the most interesting?
I need to agree, Lovecraft's books are a great read and the world he created is in my option still unique.
I was actually lucky to find "Call of Cthulhu" in the Antiquary I used to visit a lot, got it also incredibly cheap due to the cover having a little bit of damage, which did not bother me as ordering it online should I find it would have cost more. This is the same way how I got "The Name of the Rose" a bitt of a wrinkle on the cover and I nearly got it for a price you pay for a bag of chips.

But the snow is blood stained,
You are the God of Death,
The Angel turns in to a Demon.
I love you even if your claws drip from blood,
Your smile is the one of a Demon on the face of an Angel
It is true...
Beauty is the Mask of Death...

For me, I love to read all sorts of books. But really, I personally love to read thrillers and mystery novels. Just the suspense and unknown intrigues me. Although I will read almost every book I can get my hands on. It's almost impossible for me to pick a favorite book or book series when all books are just so good. I still haven't read the harry potter series but all's I have heard is good things about it so, in the near future I hope to have read the full series.

I gravitate towards fantasy.
I'll read whatever looks good to me, though.

I read science ('cause I'm a scientist and actually enjoy it in my offtime too) and some fiction. As for fiction, I've been going through Agatha Christie, finished Miss Marple and am partway through Poirot. I've also been reading some Dickens and recently started on Virginia Woolf.

I've been partial towards SciFi, ever since I read Percy Jackson, but I also enjoy Fantasy and Psychological books.

Horror is really great, especially when done well, such as works by Stephen King. Fantasy is great too, but has the tendency to be boring sometimes if it's drawn out. Stephen King has written some fantasy that's really good (Eye of the Dragon) and other shorter fantasy reads like The Hobbit are great. Romance is another good genre, but a bit overdone by the ones you find in most stores. They're really good if they have other elements like action or adventure, and makes you really care for the characters/has good character development (Song of Achilles...)TicketMaster wrote:I personally like the Horror and Thriller genres so books like The Shining

I love fantasy and science fiction, those have been my favorite genres since I was very young. I've always had an interest in the fantastical and supernatural, there's just something magical about those sorts of stories that can seem to transport you into a totally new life. Harry Potter is one of the first books I can remember ever reading, and I'm still partial to all my old copies
