Re: Phobias.. we all have one.
I have a phobia of throwing up. I'm scared of myself throwing up, of seeing other people throwing up and of hearing about other people throwing up.

Death, so, quoting Dumbledore, 'It is the unknown we fear looking upon death and darkness, nothing more.' So the unknown?? I dunno..

Spiders. I can kill them, but I freak out when I see one. Even more so if I see one, grab a shoe to squish it, and then can't find it. Also, I cannot tolerate being in tight quarters with a bunch of people. Crowds really, though it's worse when it's in tight spaces, like elevators, and a bunch of people cram themselves in. I feel like I'm being suffocated when this happens.

Re: Phobias.. we all have one.
Well I have a few phobias..
1. Heights
2. Spiders and similar creepy crawlies
3. The dark
4. Deep water
But... I have one phobia that has literally changed my life... Bears. I say that it has changed my life because I will not go outdoors unless I am with someone or I am in or on a mostly enclosed space like a porch for example. Somewhere I can easily escape if I need to.

Urg, I absolutely despise moths! And butterflies! They terrify me. My folks brought us to a butterfly emporium once.... absolutely horrible!
But my fear of those winged devils is far lesser then my phobia of needles. I know, I know. "Noone likes needles". I get it. But does everyone automatically kick a nurse in the face and try to jump out of a window at the sight of a flu shot? I dont think so. And that was me, at the age of 8.
Not much has improved by the way. I have a high chance of cancer and heart disease (thanks genetics) in my future, and I know that If I ever need treatment, I will refuse, I have no choice.
And yet, trypanophobia is still laughed at and ignored by the medical community... There are so few alternatives...
Sorry for the ramble guys! This phobia has messed up my life and I dont get to talk about it much with others..

Wow, sorry to hear about your genes. There is no easy way to deal with that whether you are scared of needles or not. But yeah if you're terrified of needles I would refuse treatment as well. Lots and lots of needles are involved. Its sucks regardless, I should know.Sarcaster wrote:Urg, I absolutely despise moths! And butterflies! They terrify me. Re: Phobias.. we all have one.
Thanks PotterLady. My Mom had the cancer that I am to expect eventually, so I saw what she had to go through to get cured, first hand. And I know that I wont be able to handle that- at least not while awake (hello medically induced coma). And my Grandpa has had 4 heart attacks so far, and I've had the honour of seeing the outcome of that.PotterLady87 wrote: Wow, sorry to hear about your genes. So, yeah. I've Noped away from that stuff a while ago!
Its nice to be able to express my phobia with a sympathetic audience, my family thinks that I am being dramatic and needlessly self destructive.
