Re: Phobias.. we all have one.
I have a fear of taking a bath. I will imagine things moving in the water and it just freaks me out like no other. I havnt been able to take a bath since I was a kid so showers for me I also have a fear of being in a group of large strange people. Ive never been a people person and it makes me unconformable and almost terrified to be in groups of people.

Re: Phobias.. we all have one.
I have cetophobia (phobia of whales). Just to see one usually sends me into a panic. Thankfully, I've gotten over some of it with age, but when I was little it was really bad. And my brother used to torment me with every photo of a whale he could get his hands on . One time we went to an aquarium where they had a life-sized statue of a humpback and my mom had to lead me through half the aquarium with my hands covering my eyes.
So, yeah. Thankfully I've acclimated myself to the Aurora whales on here .

Spiders, jellyfish, being on my own in unfamiliar places/situations, and oddly enough I seem to have a thing about walking up stairs, as well as low ceilings.
There have been multiple instances when I've gone into an anxiety attack over nothing more than walking up some stairs, and I always feel extremely uncomfortable if I go up to 4th or 5th floor in my building (we live on the 3rd floor). I really don't know where this comes from, though, as I have no problems with heights at all.
My head being near the ceiling really freaks me out, too, and has lead me to a breakdown several times. I used to think this is a form of claustrophobia, but I don't have any of that either. I don't mind small or narrow spaces, as long as there's room above my head.

I have a fear of heights. I have no idea why, although my grandfather also has a fear of heights.

Re: Phobias.. we all have one.
I have a pretty bad fear of wasps/bees. I don't know why, but whenever a bee or wasp flies near me, I kinda freak out. I mean, I guess I have good reason to be afraid (those stings HURT!) but it goes beyond that. I've seen people who just sit still, cool as a cucumber, while a bee lands on them and then crawls along their arm. It always flies away harmlessly. I could NEVER do that! I would have to be at the mercy of one of those things. One wrong move, one muscle twitch, and in goes the stinger! And yet, I know that if I did let a bee land on me, it probably wouldn't do anything. It would probably just fly away. It's so frustrating- I know that it most likely wouldn't hurt me, and yet it scares me to no end. But, hey, what can you do? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
And if you close your eyes,
Does it almost feel like,
Nothing's changed at all?

Re: Phobias.. we all have one.
I'm actually hydrophobic. I don't really like to be submerged in water, etc etc.
It's actually quite annoying when I tell people and I get "how do you drink water" or "how do you bathe", when they're missing the point entirely.
It probably roots from my inability to swim?? I never learned as a kid and I've been awfully close to drowning a few times. As of late my love's been teaching me to swim so I'm not AS terrified, though I am a very very weak swimmer nonetheless, but I won't go anywhere near cruise ships or the beach. Too many waves, I'm scared I'll get dragged off-shore.
Have any of you tried overcoming your phobias? ;w; It's difficult, but I'm rooting for you.

Re: Phobias.. we all have one.
I'm afraid of spiders and heights like most people. Unlike most people, I love reptiles, and I'm afraid of cephalopods. I know my fear of giant squid started when I saw a picture of one in a book. It wasn't even a good picture. I think I could barely tell what it was. Now that I think about it, not being able to tell what the picture was, may have been what started my fear in the first place. My mother and grandmother are afraid of snakes, yet I love them. My mother won't let me keep one however.

Re: Phobias.. we all have one.
I'm really freaked out by wasps, spiders, most bugs that can fly, and slugs of all things. Ugh, every time I see a wasp flying anywhere near me I freak! Oddly enough though, I don't really mind bees.
