What is your opinion of Sex Workers?
I honestly have respect for them. They can be sexual beings in this world of prudishness and aggression and I respect anyone who is willing to do a profession that they know will bring them unpleasant situations and conversations later in life, even if they only do it for the money.

Do you think there is a male/female bias?
There definitely is a female bias in the sex work field, but I think that's mostly because of the audience that it attracts, which is mostly heterosexual males.

Do you think you would ever consider being a sex worker?
Absolutely. I'm a sexual being to begin with, and I would actually love to be in the "sex work" whether that be adult films, night clubs, or freelancing in Vegas. The only issue is my confidence.

If your friend came out to you as a sex worker, would you be uncomfortable?
No, I would support them. If they were working as a dancer in a night club stripping, I would go visit them and tip them well.

Should sex workers be more encouraged in society, or not?
Yes. Hella yes. We put so much pressure on how if you work in the adult industry that you need to hide your profession and be ashamed to tell anyone, but it's not something anyone should feel bad about doing. Being a sexual being and being a bad person and not the same, and one does not equal the other, so I feel as though the career option of being an adult film star or whatever should be introduced with a little more respect and have more information regarding it.

Have you ever had any experience with sex-working?
No, although I have sincerely considered it multiple times.

Do you find people who are sex workers distasteful, or dirty?
No, I see them as normal human beings who are embracing themselves. Some of them are rude while some are big sweethearts and deserve love and affection just like everyone else in the world. They're just normal people.

Do you think some types of sex work are okay, while others are not?
Prostitution I do not find acceptable, mostly because then you are being controlled by another person who is selling you out and more often then not doesn't care about you. However, if you are a freelancing sex worker (I don't like to use the word hooker...but I can't think of any other word for it), then I find that perfectly fine as long as you're safe about it. Stripping and exotic dancing are fine, and so is the adult film industry.

What is your opinion of Sex Workers?
I do not hold any malice towards them. I would probably never go into the field, nor do I really have an attraction to utilize the field anymore (I don't watch pornography, I probably wouldn't go to a strip club, etc.), but I respect those in the field and I certainly hold no judgment to those who partake in it.

I will say that I don't like how both the workers and the consumers are shamed and blasted constantly. It's a harsh world, and there are a variety of reasons as to why people go over to this. I don't believe it is fair to make immediate judgments of their character because of their job/life decisions. It pays well. It pleases people. The workers take care of themselves... It harms no one as far as I know.

Do you think there is a male/female bias?
Which kind of bias are we talking about? In society, there is a misogynistic bias... where females tend to be shamed a whole lot because of this field. People treat them as if they cannot hold love for anybody and are disgusting human beings... and that upsets me. There is nothing wrong with being a sex worker.

However, if you taking about within the field, I have no idea. Females are more commonly seen because the audience is typically a heterosexual male demographic. However, this may also be because this is the most commonly seen situation. There are many different situations that sex working pertains to.

Do you think you would ever consider being a sex worker?
No. I am not a sexual person.

If your friend came out to you as a sex worker, would you be uncomfortable?
Absolutely not. I would definitely support them. The world is tough, and the last thing anyone needs is to be thrown away because of your job.

Should sex workers be more encouraged in society, or not?
I believe people should stop lambasting the workers in this field, yeah. Like said, it pays well and the workers take care of themselves. Nobody is hurt in any way as far as I know. It may not go along with a lot of people's moral code, but it is not their decision in the first place. I personally don't find anything morally wrong about sex workers. They are just people trying to make it in this world.

Have you ever had any experience with sex-working?
No... not unless you count watching pornography as one. Even then, I stopped doing that long ago... I won't ever utilize this field, as I just am not a sexual person.

Do you find people who are sex workers distasteful, or dirty?
Absolutely not. They are human beings like everybody else. They can feel emotions and love. They are just trying to make it in this crazy world, and I respect them.

Do you think some types of sex work are okay, while others are not?
I think anything that is non consensual and/or abusive and harmful is a no no. But other than that, I don't hold any bias against anything.

Thoughts not previously expressed?
I wish people would stop being so evil and condemning towards sex workers, like said.

What is your opinion of Sex Workers?

I think everyone should have the freedom to do with their body as they please. The fact is, some people just don't have any other skills to work anywhere else. However, where I live, it is a very dangerous job, especially as a prostitute on the street, and especially for the First Nations community. I should like if the government legalized and regulated sex work, for the safety of the workers.

Do you think there is a male/female bias?

Of course there is, there is gender inequality everywhere. We live in a global society which seeks to punish women for having sex, often regardless of the situation, and most people don't even think that male prostitution is a THING because they often assume it's a thing only women do.

Do you think you would ever consider being a sex worker?
It's extremely refreshing to see how many people have posted in this thread, in support of sex workers. I've been on many sites who seek to demonize them, and treat them like sub humans, and this is not one of them. This is a very good reason to love Magistream.
Where I live, even being a sex therapist for struggling couples can be dangerous. My city has a lot of extreme right wingers who would be more than willing to stalk or harm me for, as a woman, even considering the notion that sex is for pleasure and not breeding.

If your friend came out to you as a sex worker, would you be uncomfortable?

Not in the least. I've known and befriended escorts before, one of my best friends was a prostitute while he was struggling with his drug addiction, and a friend of mine had four children with different clients from when she was homeless and prostituting herself.
The only thing that would make me uncomfortable, is the worry of who they might be servicing. I would worry about them being reported missing, or found in a dumpster.

Should sex workers be more encouraged in society, or not?

In a society where sex isn't so taboo, where the government operates brothels with security, where employees of said brothels are given mandatory sex education, provided with health care benefits, and are treated like people, there would be no real problem.
Societal prejudice, often based on ignorance, leads to shame in people who work for the sex industry. This shame causes people to hide their lifestyle from people they know, prevents them from taking care of themselves, and often leads to violence against them from those who carry the most prejudice.

Have you ever had any experience with sex-working?
I've never worked in the sex trade, or paid for any services from the industry, so I'd say no.

Do you find people who are sex workers distasteful, or dirty?
I understand how sex works, so I know that sex for money doesn't make someone dirty any more than sex for love. The fact is, I've known people with 100 partners who don't even have herpes, and I've known people with one partner who got the clap.

Do you think some types of sex work are okay, while others are not?

At the very lowest rung of the sex workers totem pole are street prostitutes, and the only reason I would think the work is not okay, is because it's very dangerous for the worker. I feel the government should do more to protect these people.

Thoughts not previously expressed?

I am very happy to see how many people here on Magistream are open minded, and willing to love their fellow man. Considering the age range here as well, it's nice to know the next generation isn't a complete failure.

What is your opinion of Sex Workers?
Honestly, if that is what they want to do, that is their choice. I only have an issue with those that are forced into it.

Do you think there is a male/female bias?
I believe their is. I think males are usually looked down upon, because it is usually women who do most of the sex work? You don't often hear or read about sex workers in the past, other than those being forced.

Do you think you would ever consider being a sex worker?
Me personally no. I view sex as a personal thing and something to share with someone I love rather than a physical act. I don't judge those who choose to live differently, but that is my take.

If your friend came out to you as a sex worker, would you be uncomfortable?
Not at all, it is their life and as long as they are safe, there really is no harm. Safety is key, not just physiologically, but physically as well. I have honestly been reading a series where sex workers are treated as any member of society. They get regular health screenings and have levels? It is interesting to view it as a job rather than a distasteful act.

Should sex workers be more encouraged in society, or not?
I am not sure about encouraged per say, but I think if we had some sort of free screenings and regulations I think it could be quite beneficial to many. People could have a job they chose and are not resorting too. Possibilities to grow and even find other work if they do not wish to continue.

Have you ever had any experience with sex-working?
Nope, just not something I have sought to look for.

Do you find people who are sex workers distasteful, or dirty?
I feel I am repeating myself a bit, but again nope. Their life and their decisions. Just stay safe. Will I personally partake, nope.

Do you think some types of sex work are okay, while others are not?
I believe it boils down to safety over all things. If it can be safe (dancing, etc) and doesn't harm anyone, then do it.

Thoughts not previously expressed?
While it is not my personal preference, I think it could be an interesting business. I do not believe it should be a pimp like service, but for those who just want company and not necessarily sex, it could benefit multiple people. I have not overly thought of how this would work obviously, but it could be interesting to see.

What is your opinion of Sex Workers?
Same as anyone else, it depends on their personality and nature if I like them or not, but I don't judge them based on their profession.

Do you think there is a male/female bias?
Female sex work is far more sought after, but there is also a large demand for men in the gay scene.

Do you think you would ever consider being a sex worker?
I am, so, yeah.

If your friend came out to you as a sex worker, would you be uncomfortable?
Nope, I would certainly be having a long conversation about it though.

Should sex workers be more encouraged in society, or not?
I think they should be less demonized, but I don't know about encouraged.

Have you ever had any experience with sex-working?
Yes. One year this month!

Do you find people who are sex workers distasteful, or dirty?
Just like with any other profession, there are good people and bad people in sex work.

Do you think some types of sex work are okay, while others are not?
As long as it's with consenting adults, whatever floats your boat.

Thoughts not previously expressed?
It's not as glamorous as it seems to people from the outside, but also not as bad as some people seem to think.

What is your opinion of Sex Workers?
They can provide a necessary outlet for certain people. They're pretty brave, as they'll probably always be remembered by at least some people as "the ex stripper/escort/etc."

Do you think there is a male/female bias?
Definitely. From what I know (which honestly isn't very much), I tend to see younger females in the industry whereas males in such a line of work are a little bit older than their female counterparts. Females are seen as shameful, or just as objects, whereas a male is just "hustling hard" or whatever other nonsense.

Do you think you would ever consider being a sex worker?
If marriage was never a goal of mine and if I didn't already have a child, it might be something I might consider. I'm comfortable enough with my body, and I can learn anything, given time. However, I would never want my future husband to be in an awkward position because of a previous occupation choice of mine, and I would never want my child or future children to find some old magazine online with racy photos of me, their mother. I'd think that might be traumatic to some. As I'm in a serious relationship and have a child, I'll have to say never.

If your friend came out to you as a sex worker, would you be uncomfortable?
Not at all. I might ask him/her to take me out for drinks, since he/she would probably be going home with hundreds in cash every night :p

Should sex workers be more encouraged in society, or not?
I'm pretty neutral on it, so I don't necessarily think it should be encouraged or discouraged. It just shouldn't come before certain other things. Like the recently popular public breastfeeding thing. It's ok to have breasts exposed for sexuality but not slightly exposed to feed a child. That, to me, shows that the general public puts their priorities in the wrong places, which honestly scares me a little when I think of where this world is going.

Have you ever had any experience with sex-working?
A male stripper called my job asking if my coworkers were all adults because someone was going to order a surprise stripper for them. That's about it.

Do you find people who are sex workers distasteful, or dirty?
There are proper ways to handle everything, so if you do it in a sanitary manner and all that, power to you I guess.

Do you think some types of sex work are okay, while others are not?
As long as are always age requirements, I really don't care

Thoughts not previously expressed?
Nothing for now :)

What is your opinion of Sex Workers?
I can absolutely understand how some people choose to trade adult activities for money. It's a good market, and if you enjoy doing what you do there is nothing bad about it. However I don't like it when young girls are forced to be sex workers. I actually hate it. Anyone should be able to choose what they want to work with, especially when it is something as vulgar as selling adult activities.

Do you think there is a male/female bias?
Male sex workers are absolutely looked down upon, more than female sex workers. But I think almost every sex worker experience harassment because of their job.

Do you think you would ever consider being a sex worker?
I actually think so. I wouldn't have a problem with it, as long as it was safe. Therefor I think it should be legalized, because then it can be much safer with clubs who have guards and police will protect sex workers more.

If your friend came out to you as a sex worker, would you be uncomfortable?
Absolutely not! I don't care what people choose to work with, as long as I like them and they are nice to me I don't see the problem.

Should sex workers be more encouraged in society, or not?
I don't think it should be encouraged. It is a quite "easy" profession, and young people might wish that over a job who demand high education. What would we do if all our doctors decided to become sex workers instead?

Have you ever had any experience with sex-working?
Nope. None at all actually.

Do you find people who are sex workers distasteful, or dirty?
No, I don't. As long as they protect themselves from diseases and pregnancy it is not dirty or distasteful.

Do you think some types of sex work are okay, while others are not?
I think all kinds of sex workers are okay. Again, as long as they keep themselves protected, both physically and mentally, it is all fne by me!

What is your opinion of Sex Workers?

Honestly, if you want to do it, go for it. It's your body, and if you want to get paid for it, way to be an entrepreneur! There is such a stigma around sex and everything related to it for seriously no reason. Sex is normal and natural, do it or don't, that's up to you.

Do you think there is a male/female bias?

Oh yeah. Like, when someone brings up terms for sex workers, everyone immediately thinks of a female. If you're talking about a male in the business of adult services you have to specify by saying "male (insert occupation here). I feel like it's commonly assumed that females are more inclined to sell their bodies, due to stereotypes propagated by a male-dominated media, so much so that we have been somewhat brainwashed into believing that there are few males in the sex industry.

Do you think you would ever consider being a sex worker?

I have considered becoming a stripper on several occasions, just because of the amount of money they make, but have ultimately decided against it due to my body type. As for more illegal occupations, I have always been discouraged by my fear of the law, but if it was legal, I would strongly consider it to help put myself through school, so I could get a "better" job.

If your friend came out to you as a sex worker, would you be uncomfortable?

Not at all. I'd probably ask a lot of questions and make sure that he or she was safe and wasn't being forced to do anything against his or her will. I'd probably ask for his or her boss' contact information, in case I found myself falling on tough times.

Should sex workers be more encouraged in society, or not?

They really should, because if it was legal and supported by society, the conditions for the workers would be better and there would be more laws to protect them from people attempting to do them harm or receive free services from them.

Have you ever had any experience with sex-working?

I've never worked for anyone in the business, but I have had friends pay me for certain acts. I'm not ashamed, and I don't mind doing it. I don't expect everyone to feel this way, but I'm pretty relaxed when it comes to talking about or doing things of a sexual nature just because I don't think it's that big of a deal. It's something that a majority of people will do at some point in their life, so we should really stop acting like it's such a secret. If kissing booths aren't "wrong" or "dirty" I don't understand why sex has to be.

Do you find people who are sex workers distasteful, or dirty?

Heck no! They make more than me! Once again, as long as they're safe and not being forced to do anything, I don't find anything wrong with it.

Do you think some types of sex work are okay, while others are not?

I think they're all okay, as long as everyone involved is consenting. Consent is so important! I can't stress it enough! Like, children should not be involved in this business at all; it's an ADULT business.

Thoughts not previously expressed?

Stop judging people on how much sex they have, seriously. It's a personal choice. You want to have sex in highschool? Go for it! Just be safe, okay? You want to wait until marriage? Great! Good for you! You want to get paid for sex? Awesome! Buy me something with all the money you're going to make!

YOUR BODY BELONGS TO YOU!!!

Just ask for consent and be safe, guys. Kay? Kay.

What is your opinion of Sex Workers?
Excluding those who are forced into it (since that is really a different kettle of fish) then sex workers are just people making a living. There are so many different roles available in the sector too, I've known more than one slightly older lady work the telephones (back in the day...) in-between collecting the grandchildren from school.

Do you think there is a male/female bias?
In terms of how sex workers are viewed? Definitely. The kind of bias that exists depends on the type of sex work the individual undertakes really.

Do you think you would ever consider being a sex worker?
I used to think it would be a good career choice (since many of my friends who did it made far more than I did in my "regular" job) but I just can't make sex sell for me. It would be like me considering being a doctor, sure I think about it but at the end of the day I'm just too lazy to put the effort in to make a career of it.

If your friend came out to you as a sex worker, would you be uncomfortable?
No. I went into further/higher education, a lot of the women I went to university with supplemented their income by undertaking sex work of some kind; mostly strip/lap/pole dancing clubs, a few escorts, one or two held down telephone roles. I'm sure some did more, but eh. As I said, it's a job.

Should sex workers be more encouraged in society, or not?
Encouraged? Not sure that's the word I would use ... I would like to see the currently illegal (in the UK) aspects legalised and legislated like other forms of work, and I would like people to acknowledge that there is a difference between individuals being forced to work in the sex industry because of debts/addiction/abuse/etc. and individuals making the choice to do so.

Have you ever had any experience with sex-working?
Personally? I have been paid once or twice for my services, and that's how I discovered I do not have the personality to market myself (or any version of myself) sexually. I have friends who have worked in the sector, prior to working for a faith based organisation it was becoming the norm for me.

Do you find people who are sex workers distasteful, or dirty?
Forced sex work is distasteful and an absolute disgrace, as is the tendency for certain police units to turn a blind eye to known hot spots for underage sex work. Similarly it's a disgrace when there is little to know acknowledgement that those in the sex industry have a right to decline a client, and anything which happens after that (even if they're paid) is rape.
Actual sex workers? No.

Do you think some types of sex work are okay, while others are not?
I'm going to be a broken record here; where they are working in the sector due to a third party forcing/pressuring them to do so, that is wrong. Where they do not have the mental capacity to give consent, that is wrong. Where they are underage, that is wrong. Where there is a significant chance someone may die through the sex work that is wrong. Where everyone is a legal adult and are fully capable of making decisions for themselves, then no I do not think some are okay and others not.

Thoughts not previously expressed?
Not yet.
Feel free to mine my keep :)

What is your opinion of Sex Workers?
I think that they are either empowered people who know are using everything they have to make the best of their life, or people who are at the end and refuse to give up.

Do you think there is a male/female bias? No. Although men tend to be harassed and assaulted more, and it is deemed more acceptable than women are. In the case of strip clubs at any rate.

Do you think you would ever consider being a sex worker?
I have, my family's philosophy has always been "why give it away if you can sell it?" I dont quite think they meant sex trade though lol

If your friend came out to you as a sex worker, would you be uncomfortable?
Not at all, thats their choice, although if it was because of necessity i would offer help as an alternate route.

Should sex workers be more encouraged in society, or not?
I think the sex trade should be heavily regulated and monitored to protect the workers.

Have you ever had any experience with sex-working?
I've sold a few photos and garments. I stopped because I found a good job and wasnt desperate to pay the bills or feed my children.

Do you find people who are sex workers distasteful, or dirty?
It all depends on the person, and what area they work in. thats the difference between downtown workers, and escorts.

Do you think some types of sex work are okay, while others are not?
No, It all falls under the same roof of rules. that being said, anything that involves minors is definitely NOT okay.

Thoughts not previously expressed?
not really.
