Bras (mainly for females lol)

Post by LunatheDragoness »

So I was wondering, for you females who wear bras, what style/brand ect fits you best? Thought this might be a helpful thread for us females.

So..Questions:

Code: Select all

1. What size are you? (optional)
2. Have you found any good styles or brands?
3. If so, what style of brand was it?
4. Pros/Cons?
5. Would you recommend it to friend or family member?
Rating: 1 (being horrible) - 5 (being the best bra in the world!)
My answers:
1. What size are you? 48C
2. Have you found any good styles or brands? No sadly I havn't. Ive found some nice ones that were okay for awhile but after about a month it started to rip. I put my bras on weird so..that might be why. I put them over my head instead of buckling it from the back.
3. If so, what style of brand was it? I have mainly all Vanity Fairr bras. They always seems so nice to me at first then after a month they just wear out..
4. Pros/Cons? Pros: holds me in place, straps stay up Cons: wears ad rips too soon, pricey.
5. Would you recommend it to friend or family member?Eh..I wouldnt no..
Rating: 1 (being horrible) - 5 (being the best bra in the world!)3

So posting here

1. What size are you? 38 D
2. Have you found any good styles or brands? Yep. Although it was completely by accident.
3. If so, what style of brand was it? Body by Victoria's Secret
4. Pros/Cons? Pros: It fits me well and is comfortable for me and provides pretty good support. Cons: Sometimes the straps slip down and I have to tighten them but the next day, they slip down again. It frustrates me. They are also a bit expensive.
5. Would you recommend it to friend or family member? Despite the strap issue, yes I would.
Rating: 1 (being horrible) - 5 (being the best bra in the world!) 4

Edit: Forgot to mention I also put my bras on the same way.

Creepy, we're very similar... :: finds the bra she just flung off and locates tag::
I also tend to leave the hooks closed and pull it on over my head, like a shirt.

1. What size are you? 48C - VERY difficult to find bras in my size, they assume if we're that big around, we simply MUST be DD. D:
2. Have you found any good styles or brands? Kind of.
3. If so, what style of brand was it? I tend to have good luck with Just My Size
4. Pros/Cons? Affordable. At least, cheaper than many. I can usually get them for about $20 each, give or take, depending on sales. They seem to last well enough, and when I find a style I like, if one store only has one, I can usually find them at another store, or, they're easy enough for the stores to order. Con? When it's time to buy more, they've discontinued that style that I liked! They don't generally come in colors, but I only ever buy white, so that's not really a con for me. They tend to be more functional than pretty. Since I'm not trying to impress anyone, I like them just fine. They hold me up, and don't cut into my collarbone or dig into my back, and they don't leave obvious little rumples under my shirt.
5. Would you recommend it to friend or family member? Yeah. I would.
Rating: 1 (being horrible) - 5 (being the best bra in the world!) 4 I guess. They're not OMG AMAZING, but they do what I need them to.

A couple of tips for bras:
Get several and don't wear the same one every day. Let the elastic rest for at least a day in between. They also don't need washed as often if they get switched out. When they do get washed, use the cold water, delicate cycle with a light detergent. If you use liquid fabric softener, don't tumble dry. If you use dryer sheets, only tumble on low for about 20 minutes- with the other laundry, and then take it out to line dry the rest of the way. This also helps the elastic last longer. If you have issues with itchy bras, try NOT using liquid fabric softener, or look for cotton with out lacey bits.

@Tidesweep - Ive never bee able to like Victoria Secret bras. The one that I had awhile back the wire poked out and was stabbing me under my arm pits and almost pierced the skin >_<

@TNHawke- I am the same size as you lol. I know how hard it is to find a good fitting bra..I havnt tried the Just My Size yet. Maybe I should try it out and see how it fits me. What style of Just My Size is it that you have? And I'd buy like 6 or 7 bras at once but I just dont have the money for it. I usually only get 1 or 2 a month. Sucks being broke with no job >_<

1. What size are you? 32B
2. Have you found any good styles or brands? Sort of.
3. If so, what style of brand was it?I've never found a brand that works better than other brands, but the style that seems to be best is a thin hard cup plus underwire.
4. Pros/Cons? Pros: with a hard cup no one needs to know what my nipples are doing, and the underwire just makes me feel more supported. Cons: Wires have a tendency to poke a hole in the bra and make attempts at escape and eventually the hard cup gets a bit deformed from going through the wash. It means the bras have a short shelf life.
5. Would you recommend it to friend or family member? Not really. All breasts are different and so are people. What makes me comfortable wouldn't necessarily make someone else comfortable, so it just wouldn't occur to me to recommend bra styles.
Extra tidbit: I find it very difficult to find bras in my size. A 34A is almost the same size as the 32B, but not quite. I tend to...overflow just a bit bit in the 34A. Plus, buying the Bcup makes me feel better! :t-lol: But it's true that the manufacturers seems to make decisions on sizes that can make it hard to find things that fit. On an other note. I find it so interesting that so many of you would choose to pull a bra over you head! It never even occurred to me. What I do is wrap the bra around me and hook it in the front, then twist it the right way round. This gives me more leeway, I feel. I usually wear a bra several times before putting it through the wash and each wearing stretches the elastic a bit more, so I may need to tighten it to the next set of hooks the next time I wear it. I also have trouble with straps. Straps seem to either be too loose and slip off my shoulders or so tight they dig in. Very frustrating.

Ive tried to do that, hook it in the front then twist it around but it never really works for me. My breasts end up going with the bra and it hurts. Doing it over the head makes it simple for me to get my breasts in the place that they need to be and what not.

1. What size are you? 38D
2. Have you found any good styles or brands? I tend to unconsciously buy bras with some kind of lace design on them. Thankfully my cup size has a lot of variety. :yarly:
3. If so, what style of brand was it? Don't know/varied/whichever ones Target had in stock that day. I don't really pay attention to brands, rather I look for pretty but affordable ones. I also look for oens with underwire because I feel like they provide better support.
4. Pros/Cons? Pros: lots of support, pretty
Cons: sometimes the wires break and poke/stab/scratch me :I
5. Would you recommend it to friend or family member? Yes

I pull mine over my head because it's easy to do and it doesn't pull my breasts off to the side when I turn it around. And I'm uncoordinated so trying to reach behind my back and hook the hooks without seeing them is like wishing for a miracle. |D I did have one that actually had a clasp in the front, which I liked, but it wore out.

My biggest issue with bras tends to be the straps...sometimes after a few days of wear (because I wear mine for a few days before washing them) the straps will get a little looser and I'll need to shorten them again.

1. What size are you? 36 JJ. Yes, JJ.
2. Have you found any good styles or brands? Fantasie do some really great bras, especially for the larger sizes.
3. If so, what style of brand was it? I prefer their fullcup, underwired ones. My favourite is their Belle Bra.
4. Pros/Cons? Cons - Expensive, at £35 per bra. Pros - Awesome fit, and so comfortable you can barely tell you're wearing one. Excellent support, and it looks just beautiful.
5. Would you recommend it to friend or family member? Definitely.
Rating: 1 (being horrible) - 5 (being the best bra in the world!) 5.

Just as a note, the best places I've found for bras sized D and above is Bravissimo.com. They're a godsend for me!

I've never used underwire bras, just because of that common complaint. It doesn't sound like a good time to me.

Looking back at the tag here. it says "C48/110 1220 K220" One of those numbers is the style I got last time and have been quite happy with them since I got them.
Another thing I like about this one is that the plastic bit to pull on to tighten the straps is on top of the shoulder, so it's easy to reach and give a tug if necessary, instead of down at the back where it may as well be that spot between the shoulder blades that you can never scratch!

@SilentPhsyco- O__O JJ? That is huge O.o I feel sorry you, Im sure they are a pain to deal with

@TNHawke- I need wire for my bras. Having none feels really weird and like I dont have any support. I went to Target yesterday to look for a bra and I've tried on Playtext and Hanes. Both were just horrible. The cups were too soft and had no wires. I think I need to go to Wal Mart or Kohls for bras.
