Major mistakes just ruin the post.' Oh they missed a comma' is fine but this: f;oat, is a bit much. I personally have a major grammar problem if you look at my OOCs in rps but that is because there is no point really. It bugs me when it is in the rp part though. Spelling mistakes are a no-no because there is a spell checker. Hmm, simple grammar mistakes happen, but if there is no period then that is very confusing. Run-ons and fragments are confusing.

Obvious mistakes are annoying, but beyond that I really don't care. I really think people should read over what they write at least once, and then they'll catch things like the two i's they accidentally put in "like." Grammar isn't really my thing so if it is not common sense then I likely won't even notice.

Hmm, now how did this end up?

Bad grammar really gets on my case for several reasons.

1. English isn't my first language and when people use text speak or misspell words on purpose (eg: yuu instead of you and yes I have seen this a lot) or simply don't know the difference between your and you're it can confuse me and make it hard to mentally translate.

2. It shows a lack of effort, I believe. It's not difficult to at least make a small effort. And Google Chrome, (at least in my case) has a spell checker for me...

3. It's just plain annoying. If someone PM's me on any site with bad grammar, it sounds stuck up, but I normally don't respond. It's hard on the eyes.

I'm the first to admit my grammar isn't perfect. Sometimes, by accident, I say the opposite of what I mean. The English language is difficult. I use too many commas and ect. However, there are some things I feel easily fixed. There are also some people that just simply don't care, and that bothers me.

Man, I am a grammar-correcter. I'm not massively bothered by it in writing on the internet - actually I admit to occasionally using "b", "c" , "u" and LOL in forum posts, depending on how formal it is - but my biggest bugbear is people saying "me and him" instead of the correct "he and I", for example. It REALLY winds me up! Most people don't even know it's incorrect - I didn't until a few years ago when one of my teachers started correcting me. And I get annoyed even when bad grammar's in songs. 'Me and my Monkey' by Robbie Williams is annoying, but the ultimate bad-grammar song? 'Is you is or is you ain't my baby' ! And it's irritating when people say "bin" instead of "been", even in songs. I mean, if I wrote a song, I'd at least make the effort to write it properly!

Bad grammer annoys me so much. It especially annoys me when people misplace commas. I catch my teachers, my friends, my not-so friends, EVERYONE in the act of mis-comma-ing.
(This is probably because I was raised in a family of grammar freaks.)

I mean, if someone is posting on a website and says the occasional "plz," I won't murder them, but if it's like every other word iz n chatzpeek, it gts annoying.

I find it annoying, especially when I'm reading fanfics with really good plots.. I think it turns most readers off. Hell, the readers even complain about it.

I'm also a Nazi when it comes to stuff like these.. even when I text [cellphone] I really don't do shortcuts - it doesn't work for me, that's all. Maybe it's because I'm also a fanfic writer and a proofreader? Or maybe because my grandparents are teachers and my parents are in the business department - no shortcuts there.

I'm okay with 'yesh' and 'thankies' and 'I has no pen' when we interact socially but when it goes down to formal and fanfics, proper grammar is really needed.
Dream, hope, keep going.

Grammar Nazi here. It drives me nuts to see bad grammar, anywhere really. A forgotten comma, a uncapitaIized I, a misspelled word here and there, and other mistakes made when you rush don't bother me that much. I also don't mind it *that* much in texts (although I text in complete sentences and use proper grammar), but on forums it's annoying and just plain lazy. There probably is a character limit for one post, but it's most likely a huge amount, like 10,000 characters. No excuse to tlk lek dis. But what really annoys me is people Who Capitalize Every Word In A Sentence.

Bad grammar and chatspeak annoy me a lot since I am not a natural english speaker, and the latter throws me out of the loop big time if used in a whole sentence or more. I can understand (and even use, when feeling playful) simple chatspeak, but not in a whole paragraph. The whole 'let's capitalize the first letter of EVERY word we use, even in RP posts' is not pleasant either.

Probably the grammar mistake that annoys me the most is when people confuse 'you're' with 'your', it's basic english knowledge! I see it happening pretty often in fanfictions (as well as lots of other common and nasty grammar mistakes), and like someone said, it completely turns me off when a story isn't written decently right, even with a great and original plot.

Like other people, bad grammer and spelling tick me off. I can understand when its just a one off here and there, but when its every post and all, then I get really annoyed. I have a tendacy of spelling things wrong, and sometimes accidently putting in a letter or two that shouldn't be there on small quick replies, which are honestly by accident, but i will correct them if i see them in time. I rp alot, and for things such as text chat, its a big no-no. I normally can't read anything in text chat, appart from a few words, but i will addmit, in casual talk, i will use brb and b, or when in a rush g2g. Apart from that, thats about all I use.

Bad grammar and spelling annoys me to no end. It has always been easy for me to use it properly, and most people that I know use it correctly, so seeing it all over the freaking Internet is really irritating. I am the editor of my school newspaper, so I instantly catch the smallest mistakes anywhere because of my correction radar.
