Most ants are not very good pollinators - they tend to steal the nectar without spreading the pollen. I actually have a picture of the phenomena and a more detailed explanation under the picture.

My tomatoes are growing :D Yay! They're still quite small, though. And I've been busy with finals and internet that I haven't been weeding.

The other day I had some tomatoes with mozzarella cheese and basil from the herb pot. It was quite delicious. I was surprised at how tasty the basil was. I guess that's why people bother growing their own things - tastes better and such. Besides the health benefits, avoiding pesticides and such.

Gardens are nice.

After my attempt to fix up my garden earlier this spring flopped- litterally, the wall of my flower bed fell over! - we're finally making progress. I dug out all the plants today, now the wall is completely gone, and they're working on removing all my dirt.
They- yes, I have help. As a matter of fact, aside from digging out my own plants, I've had to do NOTHING. The only thing I'm going to be paying for is some gravel to create a drainage system and some more dirt since the end result is going to be a much deeper bed. Yay!

The managers promised to fix the wall of the garden, and they're making good on that promise. It's also looking like I may be getting a new porch. Yay for no more crappy composite planks with huge gaps sucking up all the dirt and weed seeds and composting them and growing bugs and spiders! I amy also be getting some astroturf over the rest of my yard. Mind you, my 'yard' is a fence barely holding itself up on top of the pavement parking lot of the apartment complex. So the fake grass will be a rather nice improvement.

I'm looking forward to the end of this project. :bounce:

It's nice to see a lot of users with gardens, big or small!

Since we finally have space for a garden, we put in a 1/4 plot. Sugar snaps are thriving. Carrots are doing fine. Just planted 5 rows of corn and a few cucs. Still need to plant a few other items and transplant tomatoes.

Seems our beans are getting eaten by grubs or something, though. The entire row popped, but 3/4 without leaves. Pulled a few out, and it would seem they're being eaten from inside the ground. Not entirely sure.

Our goal is to supply the two of us with garden greens throughout the winter by freezing and canning. Crossing our fingers we get a decent yield.

My southwestern habaneros are producing! These, when dried, will turn a chili nuclear with just a few seeds r. Single pod. No tomatoes or other vegetables, though. It got too hot too soon and niw we are in our non productive season. We are still going to try cultivating indoors though so the moment it cools down we can set plants out and start over.

The butterfly garden is thriving and we even hosted a monarch nursery. Did you know their eggs are bright orange and hatch out a pretty caterpillar with the same markingd the butterfly will have?

I found this and had to share. Trees with multiple types of fruits on it.

On another note, the flowers are growing well (no actual flowers though, they're probably bloom next year), the tomatoes are growing well, and at some point I need to find a use for the basil because it's overgrowing its pot. I suppose I could dry it or something...

The garden is dead, long live the garden!

:srsly:

Too hot for anything to grow and the rainy season finally caught up with us and drowned the rest. I will have to move my efforts indoors until autumn now.

Aww, bummer, Tx!

My flower bed is finally rebuilt. But I haven't had a chance to replant the plants that had grown yet! They're still all living in a bucket and in my wagon. I'm hoping to get it taken care of this weekend. The bed is now smaller, surface area wise, but deeper. Planting bulbs will no longer be an issue. Looking forward to making it purdy again, and then I'm going to scatter my wildflower mix seeds all over it and see what comes up. Should be purdy!

I don't have a garden, but i really want to, i'm constantly persuading my dad to buy me a window box :(. I want to grow roses really bad, and bluebells. Those are some of my favorites, though i do try to grow vines in a tiny pot outside on my patio. I tend to be bad at watering though
I try to return clicks! Thank you so much for any clicks!

I live in a really small town with nature everywhere, on the backside of my house it's full of trees until the next street, my region has humid continental climate, the wildlife is typical, we have a huge backyard and we plant greenstuff and fruits, in special strawberries and apples, it' like a kitchen garden, we also plant flowers and herbs, the garden has some buildings in bricks and wood, in special a green house where we grow some plants separately, it kinda looks like hogwart's greenhouse from harry potter but smaller, and the patterns of the flowers resemble figures like a drawing but i don't know what they are haha our backyard has a small fence and then comes the wild environment, often animals show up mainly squirrels and raccoons :) but at present I'm living in another city, in the campus accomodation there are few trees and shrubs and a lawn, very normal

Stupid weather. I have unripe tomatoes on my vine, but because it's so cold, they won't ripen.

I want my tomats ;___;
