That would be Ayrshire :) As far as the UK/Ireland goes, with one exception you only get County XYZ in Ireland.

I've traced my family to the early 1800's and although I haven't any interestingly foreign ancestors, they do come from all over the UK. East Anglian who moved to Rugby/Manchester area, Welsh, Devonian who moved to Northumberland (some of the original blackleg miners, I was quite upset to discover), Irish, native Northumbrian . Everything but a proven Scottish link! And some who moved to Australia, and I eventually discovered a second cousin in America - she's even more into genealogy so got loads of information. With luck someday we'll meet.
Thank you to everyone who gifted me :)

I find that so interesting! I haven't met anyone that I'm distantly related to, but I think it could be a wonderful experience. Share family stories and pictures and things. A tangible link to a branch of the family.

On an update for my current genealogy work; I've been doing my step-father's tree. He had a big file of papers and organized by old family stories told by various members of the family. Combing through them to get a tree has been both terribly interesting and terribly frustrating. I have three pages left and I have no idea how the fit into the information I already have. The information being given as "My grandfather", but the author isn't listed so I have no perspective on who is being spoken about. I'll have to corner my step-father and see if he knows who the author is. If he does, it should make my life a lot easier.

For christmas I was given a six month membership to ancestry.om of the super fancy international variety. The american records are truly impressive. They've done an amazing job, but it's not all that international. Some London and Paris records. A bit of random Ireland thrown in. Definitely not worth the cost, but then it wasn't my money. Since personal tree is all european, except for two or three generations on my mother's side, I haven't been able to get much use out of the site. For my step-father's tree, though. Wow. His family is all american and the small mountain of records I've found already has impressed him greatly. It's going to be a big job, but it'll get done...eventually! :t-lol:

My dad is big on the heritage, but not so much me. I like looking at it once or twice, but he can spend months on ancestry.com

We did find out that my mom's side of the family is NOT Irish, like we've though for years. We are in fact Scottish. I told my grandmother that it had to be one or the other to explain the gingers! My dad's side of the family is a big ol' mashup of European origins as well as some Cherokee and a few other Indian tribes. I unfortunately inherited more of the Scottish I guess, all my family gets very dark and tanned easily (supposedly due to the Indian genetics) except me. I am very pale, I burn easily, and then go right back to being pale. My skin knows no tan!

It is interesting though to see where you came from as opposed to where you think you came from.

I actually have a question. I'm an amateur knitter, and I looove these gloves --

I can't afford to buy them, and I have the skills to make it myself, I think, but I don't know how to to his little horns, the ones ringing the wrist. Does anyone have any suggestions for me? They don't have to be exact, just anything that might look like Toothless would make me happy :3
Why don't you try gluing some felt to the knitted piece? maybe that would work <3

Genealogy fascinates me, and I'd love to know more about my family. I know we were farmers in Northern Italy, but that's about it xD

Hi guys, I haven't posted in a while, but I'm wondering if you guys can give me some advice about something.

This is my Etsy store: https://www.etsy.com/shop/unicornhunterdesigns
I have had this account for a really long time but have only ever gotten 4 orders on it (one of which was my mother), so I figure I must be doing something wrong. I promote it extensively, with business cards, through social media, at craft fairs I sell things at (which I have talked about with some of you), and everything else under the sun.
So I'm wondering, since we have such a wonderful community of artists here, if you guys have any suggestions for me on how to better display/promote my handmade jewelry. It may be that my prices aren't as good (despite my researching prices for similar stuff on etsy), or maybe my photos don't show the art at its best. I just want to see what your suggestions are.

I sell way more stuff on this other site that I sell totally different stuff on, that's for designs and not handmade crafts. So I feel like there must be something I'm just not doing on etsy that's not applicable to that other site.

I think Phoe would definitely be the one to ask about that Sora, she does fairly well on her custom ponies on Etsy.

As for me, I'm still working on my sewing skills. Aya has helped me immensely this week on my Poison Ivy cosplay that I need to finish by may. I need to work on my own body (losing weight and toning up) but here's what I've got going so far.....

The little added-on leg piece leaves are going to be changed. I realized it looked way too much like Tinkerbell and not like Ivy. I'm going to make them more pointed to match the photo below that I'm going for.

When I first saw it I was confused because it's so short. But that's just because you don't have the tights and boots for it yet. I think once you get those it won't look like Tinkerbell.

That's what I think, too.

Does anyone know much about Felting? When I was at the craft store once, I found a cool book with felt animals that you could try to make and I saw on Google and DA all the creations that one could make. I plan to try it out myself (maybe memorialize my poor bunny as a little felt creature so I can have her close always...RIP Yelly).

I wish I could figure out my history. I was adopted and I have only bits and pieces of my original heritage and only a vague knowing of my youngest brother (awkward on that, it's like we aren't siblings or anything). It would be nice to discover my own background, though I guess it would be risky knowing what I might have to face and all of that...but yet...there's so much that could happen, I might even be an aunt and don't even know it.
The Wishlist in my profile is outdated (I can't quite figure out how to edit it now, so many of the creatures there have already been obtained).

Gift ideas: Really am looking for a Varja Crystalwing for future breeding of pygmies and Gemdragons.
