My grandparents had a lot of dogs on the property. They used to have many Scottish Deerhounds, and a couple Great Pyrenees.

It truly is wonderful. And I'm on leave, and not able to work. It's hard to keep up with enough money but that's why I have a roommate that pays me to stay. It's working out great. But no more dogs. Not for awhile. It'll be hard enough having to figure stuff out for when I go to University this September. I just hope I can find some homes for the dogs that I'm not keeping and am just holding.

And Luna's a nice name! My cousin just got a new Guinea Pig. I think... It could be a Hamster. Pretty sure it's a Guinea Pig, lol. XD

Friendly mod reminder: this, like the others in the HoS, is an advanced discussion topic. You need to discuss your pets and tell us about them, not just list them or show pictures. Put some thought and rffort into your posts.

DracoSpectrum wrote:Very nice looking dog, my mum used to do rescue work with Boxers and before she had to stop I adopted one myself. Do you know how old yours is? Boxers (like many dog breeds) go through a naughty stage at about a year to a year and a half old but with work can grow out of it without any bad habits. They are also a breed that cant really be stereotyped, some will be happy to just sleep in a warm spot all day waiting for you to get home from work/school, many need a lot of attention and aren't very tolerant of being left alone (my parents dog is like this). I'm lucky with Turbo (my Boxer) as he is very self-sufficient, he will spend all day playing with sticks or hiding his toys and then finding them latter. He is also very low impact when I am at home (for instance he is under my bed right now hiding his toys) and his worst habit is dropping toys at your feet at inconvenient moments.
Incredibly late reply, don't check this topic often... :t-shrug:

The vet estimates based off his teeth he is around 1 to 1.5 years old. We don't know for sure considering he was just dumped off at the county park and left there to die. Roscoe does not play with things. He has bones, he won't chew on them or do anything with them. He just lays around most of the day, plays with my two little dogs, and waits for me to go outside so he can lick me to death. He has calmed down immensely since I got him though, so that's good.

Well, I have no idea how, but something (not human) opened the bird cage while dad had his parakeets sitting out on the front porch. Mom was cleaning and we had to get the animals out for a few hours, so we set them on the table. No people were around, which is what's weird about it. We were out at the horse barn unloading feed! Either way, our male got out and mom found him dead on the porch this morning, the cat got him. Now the female is alone with 2 eggs in the nest. We aren't sure about getting a new male until the eggs hatch, I'm not sure how 'territorial' birds are when it comes to babies. Just sucks and is really weird. I can't imagine he opened it himself, I mean we've had them for almost 4 months and they've never escaped before.

I have a horse named Shadow.

Shadow is a Tiger horse. He doesn't really love people that much. I do some circus exercises with him. We loves carrots. But hates oats.
I also do dressage with him. He is pure white with little black spects every where.

For those who may not know about the tiger horses:

Wow, that's like being able to own one of the BLM mustangs, a real piece of history. How did you manage to get him? And Which registry is he: Heavenly, Royalty, or Soulon? Perhaps a ghost horse?

Our new kitten is growing so fast! You would hardly know him from the flea infested little guy who was literally dying in our hands when we rescued him. Apparently the eyes will stay the color they are; they're a lovely shade of olivine.the rest of his fur is still deciding what it will do; definitely a tux kitty but we think we see some smoky grey or blue striping.

He is registered in Heavenly Horse. We got him when my dad was training him because he was very naughty for someone. Than they decided they would send him to horse slaughter. my dad made a deal he would keep the horse and he would finish training him. They agreed and know he is still training.

Wait, what? From the sounds of it, Tiger Horses are really rare (only over 100 registered?). Why on earth would they send him to a slaughterhouse?

Unfortunately, there are a lot of people who don't necessarily think of the dollar value or rarity of a horse as its worth, but only what it can do for them. If those people were that type, the very fact that he wasn't progressing through whatever naughty behavior he was showing quickly enough to suit them, his breed's rarity wasn't enough to make him worth keeping and in some US states, if you sell a horse without revealing that it does anything dangerous as a vice (bucking, rearing, biting, etc.), the buyer can come back at you for damages for selling a dangerous animal.

I know many people who have sold on horses they couldn't handle for whatever reason, and they're always very careful to outline all dangerous vices in the sales papers.

That, or the people were idiots who got a rare horse (likely cheaply) and didn't know what they had so cared more what he was worth per pound than as an animal. Horses straddle a strange line between pet and livestock so people can have some odd ideas about them.

He was young and wild woundn't let anyone ride him. He is scared of everything. He is mostly scared of wips. My dad had to use an Indain way to get him to follow him around the stable. It toook 8 months for him to do that. THe owner only wanted th e horse to see the evil things in life not the good. Yes ther aren't many Tiger horses registerd. I can show you some pics some times if I am allowed to post them here.

He's afraid of whips and you ride him dressage? Are you planning on working with him to the higher levels? How does he do with show stress?
