I've always had pets, ever since I was young, despite living in a one room apartment. I've had fish, many birds, a cat, a rooster, a duck, a lizard, a few frogs, snails, bugs... you can imagine my mother was none too pleased What marked me the most was a budgie, though, Kuki. I was going through a very tough period, with severe health problems and depression. I wouldn't leave the house other than to go to school for months and I had absolutely no social life... and he was there for me. I won't get into details since it sounds cheesey and all, but I always cry when I remember him. I hope he's happy now, up there!

I currently have a lil' spotted monster of a Dalmatian, named Ruby, born on the 22nd of June 2007. No matter what everybody says about dalmatians being silly, foolish or even stupid, I absolutely insist it is not true. I've raised many dogs of different breeds and none struck me as intelligent (and stubborn, yes, with a passion for blackmailing people in the most adorable ways!) as this little fellow. I'll post a picture of him sometime, he's always eager to say hi to new people and make friends, especially if he gets treats for it

At a friends house, just got text from mom saying my betta fish, Vessel, was dead when he was perfectly fine yesterday before I left...wtf :/

That was like me with Lumin. He was fine, and then one day - bam. Gone.

Then again, he was four years old. That's, what, 145 in betta-years?

The budgies apparently do not care for visitors. We had a tech out this morning to install satellite Internet and the little green one has been flying about the cage muttering "shit shit shit damn damn damn f***you" for HOURS.

No, I didn't teach them that language. My SO works in law enforcement and does a lot of conference calling. I guess the birds picked it up that way. I hadn't known that budgies could talk; I had been told they would mimic sound rhythms but not that they could clearly articulate words.

Also, we bought them a bunch of enrichment/forage toys in a carnival style. They love the basket ball ring --- have figured out how to get the ball in and out and it looks like they argue for hours about the 'rules' of their game.

A week ago this morning I had to put my female budgie Romeo to sleep. My big, fat, mean, wonderful little girl has been gone and it still hurts to walk upstairs and only see one tiny bird left, who doesn't do much but eat and sleep these days. Nikki only chirps in short bursts, generally when a lot of noise is being made elsewhere in the house. It's hard to tell if he's lonely, but he's definitely confused-- occasionally he tries to land where he remembered Romeo's temporary cage was before I took her away before realizing it isn't there anymore.

I've been having somewhat stressful thoughts on whether or not Romeo would have gotten a bit better if I had just taken her home back from the vet as she was, but I doubt it-- her quality of life had deteriorated enough that she couldn't even pass waste without my help, though she still ate and drank and tried her best to be active even though the smallest amount of flapping would leave her exhausted and gasping for breath. As it is I'm sorry I couldn't do more for her but I'm glad I did something-- she would have died much more painfully if I had just left her like so many other irresponsible pet owners out there.

So here's my last picture of Romeo, the morning of the vet trip. I kept some of her flight feathers but it never occurred to me to take her leg band. I wish I had.

Adopted a Boxer from the pound on Saturday. Dad's going to help me pay for a trainer in Midland to come work with him and dad's german shepard. Roscoe is so sweet and loving, but he's hyper as hell (which is a breed trait, but I think it can be calmed down) and he loves jumping on people. I don't have time to devote to training him, plus I don't really know how so getting the well-respected lady in Midland to help is the best option for me.

Very nice looking dog, my mum used to do rescue work with Boxers and before she had to stop I adopted one myself. Do you know how old yours is? Boxers (like many dog breeds) go through a naughty stage at about a year to a year and a half old but with work can grow out of it without any bad habits. They are also a breed that cant really be stereotyped, some will be happy to just sleep in a warm spot all day waiting for you to get home from work/school, many need a lot of attention and aren't very tolerant of being left alone (my parents dog is like this). I'm lucky with Turbo (my Boxer) as he is very self-sufficient, he will spend all day playing with sticks or hiding his toys and then finding them latter. He is also very low impact when I am at home (for instance he is under my bed right now hiding his toys) and his worst habit is dropping toys at your feet at inconvenient moments.

Awww, man. JenJen had 3 kittens on Leap Day. One went to a new home a couple weeks ago. The other two went yesterday. They didn't need to nurse, but they would. Today, poor JenJen is wandering around calling for her kittens.
She's throwing herself down in front of her 4 week old grandchildren. The best she gets out of them is crawled over and her tail nommed.
I think I'm gonna cry.

My pets consist of a 10 year old Chihuahua, a Pit Bull puppy, a 7 year old Pug, and a Calico cat. I have a pretty full house.

Currently have 2 rabbits. I've had many pets except a cat or dog. My parents aren't up for it.
