Let me tell you about my exhausting experience of keeping one of my cats indoors... this will likely be a little funny :P

So a bit of backstory on the cat first: Gulliver is a castrated male, about 7 or 8 years old. Since we got him, we've had the problem that he pees on this to mark them, both outdoors and indoors. He's a really friendly cat as well, and loves to go outside, so he naturally has no problem getting into the neighbours apartments... which means he pees there too. Our neighbours have complained, asking us to keep our cat inside or put him down.

The place we live is right in front of a forest, and the door in my room, facing the woods, has a catflap. It's one of those electronic ones that senses a registered microchip in the cat, which has been the most effective way of keeping other cats out (they really love our apartment for some reason).

Just after Christmas, we got home to Gulliver having a torn up, swollen ear. He'd likely gotten into a fight, so off to the vet to be put to sleep while his ear was being drained. He naturally had to wear a cone when he got home, and he was NOT happy about this...

So, to start: We closed the flap of course, but he would sense if any windows were open and go there to attack it and try to force it open. It gets hot in my room, so this was a problem since we couldn't have the window open at night... meaning we got basically no sleep. As for the flap itself... my dad duct-taped it shut first. Then he got a load of books to stack in front of it, and put a wooden crate of rocks he's collected on top of the books. On top of THAT he got one of those IKEA step stools, and taped that to the crate... and the darn cat STILL managed to rip some of the tape. He got the worst at night too... It was a nightmare ;_;

SO! Anyone else have any stories about their cats having a cone or such? :3

I have a cat named Sittens and a dog named Snowflake. Snowflake is a purebred Siberian Husky and I think Sittens is a domestic shorthair.

Snowflake has been having some problems with zinc defficiency. She's been taking zinc tablets. She's not eating much food, but she willingly eats treats. Any ideas on how to get her to eat more?

A dog that won't eat is an unusual one, more a problem in cats (and I've got one of those right now, a new rescue who is as skinny as a rake and won't eat). i don't know what you've tried already, but here's some things - try changing her food, texture, brand, wet/dry. Soak wet food, make it more interesting somehow - put gravy or cheese in it. Warm it up a bit so it smells more. Put it in a different type of bowl - different shape or material (we had a dog that would only eat out of plastic bowls, not metal... weird!). And it might be worth looking at where she is eating - is it a busy area of the house, is there distractions or potential threats? Our dogs were always put outside to eat, and were segregated from each other (the first because there plain wasn't room indoors for two large dogs to eat and the second so that there was no aggro between them). Do you leave the food down for her to pick at as she pleases - it might be worth trying if the cat isn't going to eat it for her, or do the opposite, take it up so that she has to eat it at mealtimes or not get anything. Finally, could someone else be slipping her food so she isn't hungry?
Thank you to everyone who gifted me :)

Keep in mind, this is because of zinc deficiency, so it's harder for her to digest. And when I try to get her to eat food along with treats, she just digs out the treats or spits the food out.

I have many fuzzy meeces. Most of them live in a big wall unit shelf modified into a big habitat for them, full of toys and things to chew and climb on. The mice groom themselves constantly, can be taught tricks, can be very affectionate, and they make little chittery brux "purrs" when they're happy. Very cute if they're curled up on your shoulder at the time. It's like having a tiny cat you can fit in the palm of your hand.

I know rats are super smart. How do mice add up with the tricks? What have you taught them?

...
I have a pet cat, named Furball. He is sort of a stray, and really friendly. He never really scratches or bites, but does go into playful moods every now and then...
Appearance:
He has a grayish brownish coat, and is a tabby (black-ish stripes)
Yellow eyes
(that's about all I can really think of at the moment)
Personality:
Furball is really mellow, never angry unless you accidentally step on him or something. He likes to sit on my lap, when I sit down outside, also, for some reason, he always has a slighly drippy nose. (is this something to worry about...?) Overall, he [Furball] is super chill, and affectionate to everyone. :D
Stories..?
Found him in 2007, didn't exactly take him in since my mom refused to, saying he was dirty and might have rabies. We let him in a lot, but never overnight, since he HAS ( :sulk: ) to sleep outside in his little bed we provide for him. At first we thought he was a girl, but found out a couple years later... that he was a boy :derp:
I remember when Furball got sick, and he was really lethargic, and ruffled looking, like he hadn't groomed. He was super sick, and we thought he was gonna die. Fortunately, he survived, and now is around 10-11 years old!
An actual story about him is that he got stuck in one of our house's vent (or something), and was trapped for a couple hours, while we were out. We got back, and kept hearing meows, while in the house. We thought he had snuck in, since that's happened a couple times. We scoured the house, but couldn't find him. Eventually, we decided to check outside, and looked around. Somehow, we located the source of the noise which happened to be in the vents. Before we had left, the little metal plate thingy had been bolted in, and Furball had gotten stuck inside... We think he had gone in to cool off, but then got trapped in there. We had to un-bolt the gate/door, and let him out, and then re-seal it. Funny thing is, the next day, he was nosing around the grate, trying to get in... :srsly:
... probably more will be added

I currently have 6 pets

2 dogs, 2 guinea pigs 1 winter white hamster and 1 syrian hamster

These are my 2 doggies Cody (4 years old) and Dexter (6 years old)
They are both from Poland.

Dexter was my very first doggie ever. I got him when he was 1 year and 3 months old. In this short time he came to a polish animal shelter when he was 6 months old sadly he was abused before that (fear of men and long objects, probably hit with long objects my a man) when he was about 10 months old he came to the Netherlands where he stayed in a foster family for 2 weeks. After that he was adopted by a couple. But he kept biting and growling at the man, so after a couple of months he was put up for adoption again, and that's when I saw him on the website. I adopted him and he looked so lost :t-hugme: he did not want to sit beside me on the couch (he would move to the other side of the couch when I sat next to him) and over the span of 1 year he would slowly move closer and closer and after a year he finally sat next to me and cuddled up to me. Now he is my BFF. After I had him for 2 years the previous owner e-mailed me to tell me she found out that her boyfriend was hitting her dogs and that he had also done this to Dexter, which was the reason Dexter would bite him she kicked him out but felt guilty towards Dexter.

Cody was 6 or 7 months old when I got him. He was found on a playground in Poland when he was about 5 months old. He was "delivered" to my house directly from Poland and he was 1 but mess, 1 big ball of hair with big lumps of dirt in it. He was found on a playground in Poland when he was about 5 months old. I was able to bring him to a dog groomer 2 days later and when I got him back I was shocked, all his bones where sticking out, he was so skinny :t-puppyeyes: He was also very very nervous easily scared and easily distracted so training him was hard. He was afraid of almost everything and did not take treats from my hand and it took him 1,5 years to be house-trained. But I was determined to keep him and now he is just a cute little cuddly fur ball. He is still nervous and easly scared but that's just Cody.

This is my Guinea pig Molly. She came to me just after my pet rats died. Someone found her on the street during vacation season and I took her in. She was fully grown when she was found so her age is unknown, I kept her alone for about a month (to make sure she was not pregnant or sick) and after that I got her a little "sister".

Image
Her little "sister" is named Poppy. she came from a breeder nearby (there where no shelters and I really wanted a companion for Molly) Molly was a bit confused about this other piggie at first but she started to adjust really quickly. Poppy really acts like an annoying little sister, she likes so steal Molly's veggies when she is eating them :t-xD:

Image
This is my Syrian hamster Ezri, she's really sweet and a little bit of a clown, she recently turned 2 years old :woo:

Image
And this is little Samina, she is about 1,5 years old and loves sunflower seeds :D
