Something funny that I wanted to share.
The grey cat is my stuffy, snooty lynx point, Pooka. He HATES when the other cats get in his space (which sometimes just means he can see them!) Rosie is the snowshoe being all silly and upside down and "I'M NOT TOUCHING YOU!"

Re: Pets
Pooka looks a lot like my girl Rikki. We always thought she was a mix of Siamese and Tabby.
This is her
And her snuggling with Smokey
Think she could be a lynx point?

Re: Pets
She's cute, but no, she's a tabby with white.
Lynx point is pointed like a siamese, but with tabby pattern instead of something like solid seal. Pooka is actually a terrible example of it because his body stripes are so vivid, but he's considered lynx point because his face, legs and tail are distinctly more grey than his body which is browner.
Here's a very nice example of a lynx point with white paws.

Re: Pets
Ooh a pet topic!~
I have mostly fish... 3 betta boys(Dovahfiin, Aldufin, and Prince Peacock) and 2 guppy boys(Hurdy and Gurdy). I had a female betta(Kamikaze), but she died a few days ago after a bit over a week of not eating the food I was giving her. I wonder if her name had anything to do with it, because she tried to kill herself on the day I got her by jumping out of the fish-cup she came in...
I also have a Chinese water dragon. He's in the process of shedding right now so I'm a little hesitant to hold him, but he's healthy and eats crickets like no tomorrow! His name is Tommy-Ro, or T-Ro for short. I love him dearly. I might also be getting him a little buddy to hang out with. I don't know if I want a girl or another boy though...

Sad about your betta girl.Agentofthe1Truth wrote:I also have a Chinese water dragon. Do NOT get a second water dragon as a 'friend' for your one. They are solitary lizards and may fight. They usually get along ok as juveniles, but once they are adults, you are more likely to have aggression issues than to be two happily co-habitating lizards.
I have one too, and while it's tempting to get another- because they're just so danged cute! I know that I should not.
I have a friend who had one for a year, so it was still a baby, only half grown, and got a second little one, and the bigger one tried to kill it, even though they were both young.
If you are going to have more than one, you need to be able to have two separate cages at least 6 feet long and 6 feet tall and 3 feet deep. Bigger if you can manage it. Sure, while they're young, they don't need that much space, but once they hit full, adult size, they need a space that lets them completely sprawl out. Twice their length high and wide, and at least their length deep.

Re: Pets
Well then, I got a corn snake. After begging my parents for five years, I finally convinced them to let get my first snake- a young, beautiful, anerythristic corn snake.
Of course, with a new pet comes questions. I've seen so many varying answers... My snake is almost an inch in diameter and about a foot long, most likely around a year old. How many pinkies should I feed her if I feed her weekly (on Thursdays)? I've been feeding her only one, but some people say two or three, and some say only once a month rather than weekly, etc. Also, how often can I expect her to shed?
And for those who are curious, she looks a lot like this:

And for the feeding question, she is about this size:

A foot long is very, very small for a year old corn snake. Are you sure it isn't more like 2-3 months? They're born around 9-14 inches long from the start, so...Lazuli wrote:Well then, I got a corn snake. In any case. Since it's so small I would feed no less than once a week, and no more than every four days. Keep an eye on when the snake is producing solid waste-- that's a good indication of when it needs to be fed. Baby snakes need more food more frequently than adults. At my store we give our baby corns two pinkies per go(sometimes) with no problems, but I wouldn't do more than that at once. If you're feeding more frequently, stick to one pinky per 4-5 days.

Welcome to the reptile club! There's people more experienced than I in this guild: Reptile Guild so perhaps asking questions there will get you more experienced input.Lazuli wrote:Well then, I got a corn snake. For myself, I have a corn going on two years and stretching towards 3 ft, who eats once a week. I got her when she was a couple months old, so I'm wondering if perhaps you don't have the correct age for your snake? Regardless, a steady eating schedule will help establish a steady shedding schedule, so perhaps upping to two pinkies once a week to start out with will help. I don't know what's common practice, but I give my snakes a couple minutes in between mice to digest. Of course, I prefer live to frozen, so it's different for everyone
Go ahead and ask questions in the guild, I'm sure they'd be happy to help, and certainly more able to provide better information than my sleep starved brain can provide. Good luck, and feel free to PM me anytime
