Well I hope she's had a peaceful life recently - mine is the 5th home she's had, and strangely she's twice had people leave her behind when they emigrated to America. I got her from a friend (one of the emigrees) whose house was full of two autistic spectrum children and two poorly controlled dogs - I think Phoebe lived under the bed there! It has taken her a long time to trust me, she doesn't like being picked up or handled (understandable really given she has a needle stuck in her every day), but can be very sweet and loving, and she now sleeps on my bed with me, which is real progress :) Long may it last.
Thank you to everyone who gifted me :)

hi there,
I'm "new" and want to introduce my current cat here.

Image

His name is Ianto Jones and he is about 6 or 7 years old. He is from an animal shelter and I had him for over one year now. He is FAIDS positive and has chronic cold. (I hope thats the right word. Sorry, my english is not very good.)

His name was a little 'joke' of mine. Or rather positive thinking. The Torchwood character Ianto Jones died of a lethal virus. My Ianto Jones will hopefully be old as the hills despite his lethal virus.

What a beautiful cat, Rhia! And good for you taking on a cat who would be very hard for the shelter to home, given his infection (I'm assuming he's an indoor only cat so he doesn't pass it on). It looks like he's had a bit of a rough life given part of his ear is missing - was he a feral?
Thank you to everyone who gifted me :)

Ianto is adorable! The ear just gives him all the more personality. Despite grim prognosis given by vets and shelters, I have had several, and known of several other cats who were diagnosed with feline aids and not one of them lived to be less than 13 years old, one even made it to 17!

In my own news, the baby diamond doves hatched today! I'd forgotten how quickly their eggs hatch, I was thinking 21 days, like chickens or 19 to 21 like finches, but nope! 14 days and POIK! Baby Squeeps! Mommybird, Seraphina is taking great care of them, staying on them, keeping them warm, feeding them, and getting indignant when I try to take photos! I did get a couple, I'll see if I can get them uploaded tonight, after work.

Someone was asking before how noisy they are, they just make a very VERY soft "sweep" sound- when I'm poking at their mother. Lol. Daddybird, Gonzago, is going around the cage picking up food, drinking water and eating some grit. He'll either share this with the babies, or share it with Seraphina. Daddy will also take his turn on the babies too. The doves are very good parents once the eggs hatch. Considering this is their first clutch... maybe the failures of so many previous were due to Julianna, not Diamond Doves in general? Or maybe Seraphina is just a really good Mommy, or maybe they just got lucky!

Edit:
*SQUEEEEEEEE!* JenJen Kitty had three kittens last night. Leap Year Day babies! There are two girls and 1 boy. The oldest is a grey and white bi-color girl. The other two look to be grey tabbies with white paws like their mother. The boy is the youngest.
I didn't want kittens, I very much support getting all cats and dogs fixed, but sometimes life conspires against you.

If the internet will stay connected tonight, I'll post pics.
Hawke's IRL fiance, Lunaroki, suffered a massive stroke and died on Tuesday, March 31st, 2015.

Hawke needs to concentrate on other things, and is leaving MS permanently.

Thank you all for many fun years.

Ianto's a real cutie, Rhia - his little white bib and tattered ear are adorable, and I love his name!

I'm new here too, and I thought I'd introduce my babies (pictures below spoiler cuts to save people's bandwidth!).
Spoiler

This is Ace! She's four years old, and I've had her since she was smaller than her head is now. XD She's definitely part shepherd, but the other part is up for debate - possibly some pitbull in her, possibly some greyhound/whippet/other sighthound type breed... Whatever she is, she's ridiculously smart and a big cuddler.

Simba! I've had him for ten years now - since I was thirteen. Someone dumped him on my grandmother's farm one winter, and he is so not a barn cat, so my grandmother gave him to me. He doesn't really like anyone but me and Ace, but he loves snuggling with both of us.
Spoiler

And last but not least, Michaelcat! He was a skinny little stray who followed my partner home one day, when he was less than a year old, and he has grown into an enormous, ridiculous cat. He is a total loverboy who will happily give hugs and jump onto your lap whether you want him there or not - and as you can see, he likes to take over my desk. He is also dumb as a box of hair, but we don't hold that against him.

@ KyuunaZaraki - That's not what I meant, or said - these children were young (3-5 ish), loud, ran around a lot and were basically out of control. They were also in the house all the time, being pre-school. Not the best combination for a nervous cat to have to deal with. I don't believe for a moment that they actually harmed, or even meant to harm the cat, but she didn't see it that way and spent most of her time hiding.

I'm sure you wouldn't upset a cat, but you aren't this particular pair :)

@taibhsearachd - what lovely animals! two beautiful cats and a great dog. I can definitely see the Shepherd in Ace, do you have a picture of her standing up? I have a greyhound, so might be able to spot that in her... The cuddly part sounds greyhound but the intellegent bit doesn't!
Thank you to everyone who gifted me :)

I'm really happy, I just got my cat fixed on Feb. 28! At first I was afraid his personality would change, but now that he's been fixed, nothing about him has changed, in fact, he's better than ever, very loving, and playful like always. So I truely believe that your cat's personality changing after being fixed is a myth(even though my brother tried to convince me of it).

What do you guys think of this?

I dunno I think it depends on the cat in some cases but my own cat Stripes only mood shift was the week or so AFTER the operation (she was NOT happy with us >.>)
