Aw, that's tough. Hardwood, so not as bad as carpet, but still.
Ferret war dance, huh? I prefer "popcorning", so much more cute :p
She goes to the same spot, so it sounds like a litter box would be a good idea. It never worked for my previous guinea pig, so I don't really know what to go about with the idea. I guess I'll find a box or something.
Enzyme... o_O Huh. I should look for some of that stuff. Just been using water and a little soap.
As for the out time/potty thing, he doesn't get much out time because I have trouble catching her. I think she thinks it's a game.

Re: Pets
actually I think the guinea pig thinks you= pred she=prey since they ARE prey animals in their native habitat
thats what made the males my family had so hard to deal with...and once Atlas got outta the playpen and I had to tackle our dog bear so HE couldn't get the squealin, squeaking thing...

Re: Pets
well I'm pretty sure I'dve liked the Guinea pigs we had if not for the whole their food killed my ability to breathe...
but I understand the whole 'not wanting to push your pet' thing I was just pointing out what seemed to be most obvious to me

Re: Pets
My Cat Line i got her from a Shelter she has a sad story she was found ind a Plastic Bag together with her siblings she loves to eat Fish. There was another cat togehter with her on shelter but i dind't know who i liked most but then she walked up to me and lied down on me and then i knew it was her. Fun enogh my Dad and my Brother wanted the other cat but my mom and my wanted her.
I live a place where there are many other cats but all of them are males when she was a kitten she always ended up fighting many off them and today she can't take another cat even not ind the television
one day she runned away and i was so worried i sat ind my garden and cryied because i was sure she would never come back but then i heared a cat and it was her ten i grapped and runned in my house and showed my mom and dad her. I don't think i ever has been so woprried about anything before or maybe one time she got a nasty scar on her back but i don't know the story because i was not home when it happened.
She dosen't like strangers but have never bit anyone she is so peacefull but when she dosen't get what she want. She gets mad and starts to run with full speed around and ind the house.

Re: Pets
I'm sure the water bottle was 75% of the problem, but if that was replaced and they still are requiring a full cage cleaning more often than once a week, I'd venture to guess their cage is too small for them.KyuunaJakka wrote:we tried cleaning it out as often as possible but before three days had passed the two Guinea Pigs had rendered their bedding into squashed down reek paste...it didn't help that DESPITE giving them plenty of toys to gnaw the two would chew holes in the plastic collar of their water bottle which soaked their bedding faster...

Re: Pets
it likely was TN...but my family couldn't afford to buy them the gigantic cage they might have needed
we DID however find them a better home with folks who HAD enough money to give them the cage they needed
so I know they're much better off now

Re: Pets
The guinea pig story reminded me of my old pet rat. His cage was fairly simple-spacious, with a few toys and one large "bed" that was a store-bought hollowed out ball, made out of softer fibers.
I usually used store-bought bedding to line his cage with, but we ran out and I needed to clean the cage, so I figured using shredded newspaper would suffice for a few days. So I lined the cage with that, made sure it was soft, and put him in.
When I came back to my room a few hours later he had taken every piece of shredded newspaper and stuffed it into the ball, making a dense nest to snuggle in. All I could see was his head sticking out of a giant ball filled with shredded newspaper, and the rest of the cage was totally bare.
He seemed happy enough. I never used newspaper again though.

Re: Pets
I honestly think that birds are the cure for just about anything.
Mine are in my office right now, warbling their little hearts out in time to the music, if not always in tune. They like John Denver, Johnny Cash, Sister Hazel, and Middle Eastern modern music but NOT Middle Eastern jazz.
Their vocalizations are amazing as I'd been told that budgies lack the ability to truly 'talk'. One of them does a perfect imitation of Dee's laugh and the other an say "Good evening, ladies" in a voice convincing enough that both Dorie and I thought it was my husband coming up from the rec room (no one there though and he was asleep at the time). They imitate the happy little merpling sounds he makes when he's cooking. They also imitate the microwave beep and the sound of the screen door hinge as well as a variety of song birds.
I still don't understand why people consider these guys expendable or stupid. I love my budgies and they've repaid that well.
Some new photos:
Before anyone asks: yes, we do keep their wings clipped but (as you can see in one of the photos) that doesn't prevent them from flying. They have a designated room in which they can fly where nothing will hurt them and they are supervised while doing so.

Re: Pets
We used to have a budgie named Bluebird. She would imitate squeaky furnace noises - like if the furnace was broken or acting up - or rattling windows/door, and I think the doorbell, then laughed at everybody who got up to check something.
Or so I am told. I don't recall her making much - if any noises - but I was pretty young when she died from old age.
We have a Quaker parrot who wolf-whistles at the most inopportune - and highly inappropriate moments. She also makes loud, smacking kiss noises if you give her a treat.
