What's a VBB? The 1st snake reminds me of a Taiwanese Beauty Snake.
The second photo is just plain adorable! EEEE! I want to kiss his little nose! Great shot!

Are they actually a different species, or just a color morph or a regional difference?Gmork wrote:Thank you haha!TNHawke wrote:What's a VBB? The 1st snake reminds me of a Taiwanese Beauty Snake.

Re: Pets
I've got a puppy. She is already a full-grown dog but because of her size she will always stay 'my puppy'
She's about 5 years old and has about the size of a small cat. She's white as snow and listens to the name "Bijou" which means jewel in French. I think I got her for my birthday - but I honestly can't really remember. There's no heroic tale - she wasn't saved from some evil breeder or something like that. My parents got her from a licensed breeder because they wanted a pure-bred Maltese. It was a gift so I didn't really have any say in their choice.
She very friendly and knows a couple of cute tricks
This is her:

A different subspecies; the Taiwanese are Orthriophis taeniura friesi, VBBs are O.t. callicyanousTNHawke wrote: Are they actually a different species, or just a color morph or a regional difference?

Note to self: Send HellFyre this way to drool over Gmork's beauties and hopefully post more pictures of her gorgeous scaly girls.
I'm... conflicted and want to get the opinions of some of the dog savvy magi. A few of you know that I have a 4 year old brother. In December, my Lhasa Apso had to be put down two months shy of his 17th birthday. Skish (the brother) has been asking for another dog. My youngest dog is 6 so I can understand that my girls, an 8 year old corgi and 10 year old labrador/hound, are slowing with age and Baxter, the youngest and my brother's best buddy has issues in the summer with his hip (all of the warning signs of hip dysplasia are there, confirmed by my vet on x-ray, though he doesn't have it yet) and has luxation in both of his patellas, so of course he doesn't always want to play.
Mom is actually considering this and has been trying all day to get me on the bandwagon for him to go out and get just any puppy. Skish loves all of the animals and, as much as it kills me, I have offered to leave my dogs (the 6 and 8 year olds) to be with him when I make the move after my wedding in October. He's never downright mean to be mean, but he's still learning how to behave with dogs and ours are rather... saintly and forgiving.
To be frank, he's not ready for a puppy. He has a cat of his own as well as all of the dogs but I'd worry that he'd hurt the puppy accidentally. Mom is extremely sensitive when it comes to Skish as he spent quite a bit of time in the NICU so any suggestions are usually taken as criticisms of either him or her parenting abilities. I have no idea how to broach this topic without coming across as the know-it-all adult child. I could talk to my dad about my concerns, but of the 4 dogs we had, the only ones permission was asked for/granted were the two youngest and that's only because I was already an adult when they were brought in. Mom has no problem sneaking an animal in and using guilt to get her way.
Advice?

Re: Pets
OK, does anyone else keep silky bantam chickens???
They are a breed of bantam (minature) chicken whose feathers lack the barbs that make them hold their shape so all of a silky bantams feathers are like fluffy down. (imagine a baby chick adult size with adult colors and you will get a pretty good idea) I have five show quality bantam hens who give lovely tasty eggs, when they aren't terrified of the dog.
Silliest looking things ever but friendly and very cute.
