Good deal. Keep an eye on it, and at the first sign of infection, get her to the vet.
My doggy ripped a toenail completely out, way back in January. It still hasn't grown back!

Re: Pets
Our cats are just nutty xD It's funny though, at a first glace it would look like they're fighting with one another-they chase each other around, get into slap fights, pounce on each other and look like they're biting one another.
Except they don't make a sound. If it were a real fight there'd be screeching, the only sound we here is the thumping as they run/fall. And they never hurt each other. The only time one of them has gotten hurt is if we forget to trim Tora's nails and she gets into a slap fight with Bella9Bella ends up with a tiny cut on her head). It's basically play fighting(I remember watching something on tv with lion cubs play fighting and it was almost exactly like how our two play).
And then on the other hand we'll find them fast asleep beside each other on the bed/couch and totally chill. Like, yeah, you guys totally don't get along. Really. Dorks.

Re: Pets
Wellllll. My pets are not per say normal, but pets none the less. Before I tell you what they are I'll tell you a bit about them
They can't stand my glasses. They pull them off every chance they get.
They love to curl up and hide in my fuzzy mane of hair
One particular gentleman likes to enter my t-shirts while I'm wearing them, through the armholes!
They love heat, dislike the cold, and sometimes chillax and watch tv with me!
Anyone guess what they are yet??
Snakes Yes, adorable Snakes.
I currently have 5 with more planned to get.
1. Wiggles, he is a King/Corn snake Hybrid. Morph is called Snow. He never sits still. He always has to be moving around and wiggling, but he is still a pretty sweet and cute boy. Set him on the floor with actual freedom and he freezes, as though he doesn't know what to do with his newfound freedom. 2. Pepper, she is a pureblood Corn snake. Morph is called Fire or Albino/Amelanistic Bloodred. She is a bit obese and we are trying to get her down to proper size by regular exercise in the bathtub. She can be grumpy at times, but is a big sweet heart when you place her on a chubby belly. I have a unique relationship with this girl as both she and I are blind in our left eyes. I'd be grumpy too lol. She is 8 years old and still going strong! 3. Yellowjacket, sibling to Wiggles ( She shares his hybrid background) Unknown morph. She can be a bit dodgy, but has never bitten. She is quite shy of people, but once you pick her up and calm her down she will curl up in the warmest place she can find. 4. Banana aka The Gentleman. He is a pure Cornsnake. Morph is Gold Dust Motley. He is the sweetest creature in existence. He's never jerky or dodgey, and doesn't try to escape. He even eats in a gentlemanly manner, waltzing up to his thawed food and gently nomming it down whole. He adores entering ones shirt through armholes and curling up on any warm skin he can find. He also has a very curious side. Nearly anything can get his attention. 5. Cornbread. My first ever little snake. She is a pure corn. Morph is Hypomelanistic. She is just a little baby at about 16 inches long compared to the others 3 and 4 foot selves. This is my most precious animal. Extremely curious and always trying to escape, she can still curl up in the palm of my hand. When I first got her she felt like she weighed about like one piece of paper. She is still very small but a little heftier. And of course I have about three fish tanks and a tank of Crawfish Frogs

Ahh, corn snakes. They're so cute. I actually thought you were talking about rats at first.

Re: Pets
Thank you, I'd like to have a pair of rats, but I can't where I am currently.
They can also hybridize with black rat snakes, milk snakes, Texas rats, Brooks, and a whole host of others. They are often times fertile.
A crawfish frog is a big frog that eats other amphibians and reptiles. Native to my area. I saved them from being shocked to death. Literally, they were in a friend's pond and he was about to start adding chemicals to get it ready to clean.
I really want to be able to afford a pair of Brazilian Rainbow Boas soon. They are so so pretty.

Re: Pets
I have a pair of rats and they're the best. I know a lot of places have pet restrictions, but honestly if you give them a big enough cage and clean it on a daily basis no one will ever find out (I'm not supposed to have them where I'm living either).
I got my rats because I've grown up with pets my whole life and when I moved into the college dorms it was really hard suddenly not having any animals at all and it really highlighted my already pretty bad anxiety. My family fosters dogs for the local animal shelter and we pick up stray cats constantly so not having that around was really devastating for me. Luckily it's really easy to hide rats in dorm rooms. lmao. They're wonderful. Not the same as a dog or a cat--they aren't as affectionate--but they get me by and they help me take my mind off stressful things.
ALSO: just a fair warning, some snakes will only eat LIVE prey, meaning you couldn't just feed them frozen rats. If you can't handle that (I'm assuming you are an animal person, considering you want a pair of rats yourself) please do not get a snake. I love snakes too and I do wish I could have one but feeding live prey would be too much for me. Not every animal is for everyone, you know?

Re: Pets
I own five right now. I have no trouble getting them to eat frozen thawed. It's usually only a few types of python that refuse to eat frozen thawed.tedbundy wrote:I have a pair of rats and they're the best. Re: Pets
Snakes are so cool. Don't think I'll ever own one. my mom is not a big fan of reptiles and would never allow it. Got to cute fuzz balls instead and a little Betta fish.

Re: Pets
Snakes refusing frozen/thawed or even just pre-killed is very individual to every snake (some species are worse about it, no argument there). Some can be raised on frozen/ thawed and never have an issue, others you can try and try and try and they won't touch it if it's not alive.
Case in point- my brother had a corn snake who refused to even look at anything he didn't kill himself. He got to a size where he should have been eating medium sized rats, but rats fight back, so I absolutely NEVER would have offered him a live rat. (and I also love rats. I can't feed them to anything). I tried frozen/ thawed. Even made sure it was warm, not just thawed. Made sure it was dry. Wiggled it around... nothing. Tried a rat I had JUST killed. Nothing. Not even when he hadn't eaten for 3 weeks and I KNEW he was hungry. As soon as I offered him a live mouse, he gulped it right down. He was the same way about dead mice, so it wasn't just that he didn't recognize the scent of rat as food. We ended up having to feed him 3 large mice a week!

Get a doctor's note that says they are a companion animal necessary for the treatment of anxiety. Dorm can't tell you 'no' then, and you don't have to worry about being caught.tedbundy wrote:I have a pair of rats and they're the best.
