I would get a second opinion from another vet. Seizures of any kind are not normal in an animal and your dog is pretty young to be having them because of age. I find it unlikely that the dog got into something or is being poisoned because ofbthe interval involved, but it's possible.
Do you use flea and tick prevention? If so, are thy purchased from the vet? Are they stored correctly? Are they not expired? For the right weight? For the right animal? Do you apply them correctly?
These are things I would look at since any one of those things could cause seizures.
It could, sadly, also be a defect of the breed. If you didn't get the animal from a reputable breeder and the dog wasn't certified free of defects that could be the problem. I have had goldens and had friends who own them; a good many of them do seem to have dogs with seizures and two of the three I owned --- both rescues --- dud as well.
But really...you need to find another vet to treat the animal. It's dangerous to diagnose without seeing the dog and most folk here simply aren't qualified to give that advice. Any reputable vet or vet tech would tell you that much.

Re: Pets
Well you see, in January 2010, my dog had an eight pound mass on her spleen, and needed surgery to get it out. Soon after, she was eternally bleeding, and needed a blood transfer. Every since, we've wondered if that would shorten her life span. Although, I don't think that would have anything to do with this situation.
Unfortunately, we only have one vet in my city. And truthfully, they are a great vet....for all I know. They did save her once already. We don't use any flea and tick prevention. Not something we've ever really took under consideration. Keep in mind that she was perfectly fine until this started happening.
We did get her from a breeder, so I'm not sure if that would be the case either. Ranna1000 has been sending me PM's will a lot of useful information. We're positive that it is a grand mal seizure.

No I never had a pet and never will probably. Don't get me wrong I don't have anything against animals. Infact sometimes when I visit my friend's house and that shockingly cute poodle comes wagging it's tail to greet me I feel like adopting a pet that day itself. But then again I come back to reality. The biggest obstacle in bringing a pet home is my parents cuz they have an alergy for cats and dogs. Besides I'm out of the house most of the time so I can't take care of my pet properly. So maybe later when I have more freetime. I would love to own a dalmation.
Re: Pets
I have two cats Sparky who is about 17 years old, and then Occi who is about 5. Sparky was abandoned as a kitten on the coldest day of winter so we took her in. Occi we just got a few weeks ago from some friends from my dad's work since they were moving to a smaller place and couldn't keep her anymore.
the funny thing is they look almost the same except Occi is a little more golden and way bigger. I would post a picture of them but occi is always hiding because she's scared of Spark.

Re: Pets
Parents took the dog to the vet today for a check-up on a non-healing wound she has been treated for a while for. While they were there, the vet noticed a red mark on her back that she wanted a closer look at.
Turns out she had a maggot infestation, covering about a third of her back.
Despite the vet telling us that it's both common and easy to miss in long-haired dogs, and that the eggs were most likely laid in the last 24 hours, I still can't shake the feeling that I'm a bad dog-owner for not noticing this.
Especially when she looks at me, wagging her tail, and all I can see are the wounds all over her shaved back.
Any tips or hints on how to stop this from happening again?

They tend to be standoffish and nippy with strangers in my experience, too. So socialization and strict training is a must.DoctorOctopus wrote:I hope you like running, then. LOL I'm a slacker. I hate running unless absolutely neccessary in emergency situations like I have to fit in a dress for a party this weekend. In that case the dalmation would be a perfect pet for me cuz it'd keep me on my toes all year round..DoctorOctopus wrote: I hope you like running, then. Dalmatians as a breed love to run. A LOT.
Oh well, socialisation has also been one of my negative points. Me and my pet could both work on it..hahaSynchronized wrote: They tend to be standoffish and nippy with strangers in my experience, too. So socialization and strict training is a must.

Yeah. Plus someone told me they were the dumpest dogs in the world. I am not sure if it's true, I just wanted to say that.DoctorOctopus wrote:I hope you like running, then.
