Hey was just wondering, how long does it take for a hickey to go away? I picked this thread because it seemed like the closest and best choice.
Hey. I'm depressed. I self harm. I can be annoying. If you don't want to deal with me then that's understandable.
And if I post and you reply I probably won't see it I'm sorry. I always check my pms though.

What are your thoughts on sex crimes themselves?
I think sex crimes are one of the worst atrocities someone can inflict on another person, not just because of the physical aspect, but because the emotional scars never go away.

Do you believe people 'ask for it' when they dress provocatively?
NOBODY asks to be raped. Period.

What is consent to you?
Consent is both parties being aware and willing to participate wholly in an act. If at ANY time a person changes their mind, or is no longer aware of the circumstances (eg they have passed out or fallen asleep or something) they can no longer be considered consenting.

Have you ever experienced sex crimes?
Yes

How do you think society's portrayal of sex crimes hinders or helps us?
Mostly hinders us. A lot of the time society portrays sex crimes as being about sex, when often it is about the perpetrator wanting power and control over another person.

Do you think the media plays a role in all of this?
Absolutely, yes.

Do you believe men can be a victim of sex crimes too?
Yes, I am a man, and have been a victim.

Have sex crimes affected you or loved ones?
Yes

Do they leave harmful and lasting affects?
Yes

Do you think there's a way to stop sex crimes?
Not really, humans always find ways to do awful things to each other.

Any other thoughts?
Not really.

depending on how bad it is, like two to four days or something like that
something i recommend is using a toothbrush and kind of brushing your skin where the hickey is? idk it helps sometimes to like spread around the blood and whatever a hickey is to help it go away more quickly. like take the toothbrush and kind of spread out from the middle of the hickey to the outside.

no problem! glad i could help

What are your thoughts on sex crimes themselves?
i mean, they're horrible. obviously. things like rape and sexual molestation are never okay.

however, there are things that are considered sex crimes which i don't think should necessarily be considered criminal. for example, there are societies where the revealing of the female breast is considered indecent exposure, which is a sex crime. i don't think that this should be a crime.

Do you believe people 'ask for it' when they dress provocatively?
no? of course not. even saying that they're dressing provocatively is wrong. you can't know someone's intentions by looking at what they're wearing. if someone wants to wear a miniskirt because they think/know they look pretty hella in it, then they aren't provoking any sort of sexually perverse reaction from anyone. however, no one asks to be raped or molested. if you think someone looks sexy in what they're wearing, that does not give you express permission to sexually harass them.

What is consent to you?
consent is voluntary agreement. it is not simply saying "yes." someone could agree to do something out of fear or they could do it for other reasons. it's more important to consider was consent isn't. silence is not consent. if someone has to force themselves upon someone else in order for them to "agree" to have sex with them, they have not consented and that is rape and that is a crime.

Have you ever experienced sex crimes?
thankfully, no. no one should have to, and i'm fortunate to have never experienced that.

How do you think society's portrayal of sex crimes hinders or helps us?
i don't really know what society's portrayal of sex crimes is. most of society is against rape, especially nowadays. i'd need examples of these portrayals, but i'd say that things like that are portrayed negatively which is good.

Do you think the media plays a role in all of this?
the media plays a role in everything, so, yes. the media is so helpful - it can help people with things ranging from identifying whether or not they've been raped to seeking counseling and help. i really don't see the media encouraging any sort of sex crimes.

Do you believe men can be a victim of sex crimes too?
of course. it's not a belief. it's a fact. like, you can't dispute that men can be raped.

Have sex crimes affected you or loved ones?
they haven't affected me, or my loved ones, as far as i know

Do they leave harmful and lasting affects?
um yes?

Do you think there's a way to stop sex crimes?
stop, no. decrease? absolutely. it's going to take awhile.

Any other thoughts?
not really.

So if on Friday someone got a hickey and then on the next Wednesday someone was to get another one, over top of the old one, how long would that take to go away?

the old hickey didn't go away from friday until wednesday? yeesh.
regardless, i don't think it would take a different amount of time. again, it depends on the size and intensity (? you get what i mean) of the hickey.

What are your thoughts on sex crimes themselves?
They are horrible and need to be stopped or at least controlled
Do you believe people 'ask for it' when they dress provocatively?
NO! that means they dress up. They just dressed up. That's it.
What is consent to you?
Saying yes (and/or other words that mean yes, such as "go ahead, do it" and other things of that nature)
Have you ever experienced sex crimes?
Yes, I have had someone sexually harass me
How do you think society's portrayal of sex crimes hinders or helps us?
A little of both, really
Do you think the media plays a role in all of this?
Yes! People are sometimes egged on or tricked into doing things
Do you believe men can be a victim of sex crimes too?
Of course! Anyone can be a victim weither it be of being asked for lewd pictures or rape!
Have sex crimes affected you or loved ones?
Yes. I am more cautious with what I wear and around certain people
Do they leave harmful and lasting affects?
Yes. It's like putting a nail through your hand. It's painful, will heal over time. but WILL leave a scar
Do you think there's a way to stop sex crimes?
I honestly think there will always be crimes of that nature, but we should try to prevent it as much as possible
Any other thoughts? I hope anyone who has experienced this sort of thing gets the help they need to roll down the road to recovery.
