I have, some years ago. Then we moved on to Interface Zero when we'd finished the campaign.

I... almost have? I was planning on DMing some sessions with some irls, wrote out the story, and then we never did it. rip
If you have questions, though, I have... answers (debatable)?

Start with 5th edition, that one is the most straightforward and streamlined. You could try 4e but people seem to generally consider it less fun than 5. Probably don't start with 3.5 - it's still regarded fondly by a lot of people but gods so many rules and skills to juggle

You should totes play in Lorelei's game (assuming she's willing to deal with a temp party member/shove in another player) - the best way to figure out what you're doing is to play with someone who already knows what they're doing!

The thought that I know what I’m doing is a myth. Anyway: I’d be more than happy to let you join my campaign if you want (or sit in and watch/listen, it’s all online,) or I could send you the stuff I use. Or do another little mini one because my group meets so infrequently. Or anything else I can do to help.

But yeah, start with 5e. It makes more sense than 4, easier to find than 3.5.

Eh, I actually downloaded the PDF of the PH. We use Skype for voice chat when playing, so I can send it to you through that, along with some really nice character sheets.
Our next session is actually this coming Sunday, at noon-ish for Californians. Don't get your hopes too high tho, I'm a pretty noobie DM
