Looks like we've got our first pair chosen!

Looking foreward to seeing how wishing goes and having more people pair up <3 We've also got some people who are interested in playing Bureau characters down the line which I'm super excited about...

.... I'm excited :woo:

I am one of those. Hello friends. Call me Szymon. I do have one question though, do the good guys have to win? I am biased towards the darker side of life, so its worth asking in my head.

Am I allowed to throw ideas at people here?

this is the place of idea snowball fights ;D

as for good guys vs bad guys, theres a huge amount of different ways this roleplay could end. It will all depend on what wishes are made during the roleplay and how the characters react to certain events: how the Chaotic characters Joker and Judgement interact with the current players, how alarmed or happy the Bureau are with the developement of the humans, how easy to manipulate the humans are for the avatars, if the avatars ever pick up any human emotional traits, and how characters develop in terms of powers and abilities.

It's really all up in the air as to how things go XD bearing in mind this is a dark fantasy roleplay though: it is very unlikely things will end as a rainbows-and-bunnies paradise (although possible)

This has been my rough ideas for the layout of the roleplay so far [not necessarily in perfect order]. I don't want to show all the cards in my hand [pun intended, hurrhurr] Bearing in mind this is for all of us to decide on and contribute to, so please make suggestions! Tanglore has come up with some pretty sweet things. I'd love for more!:
Spoiler
Early Roleplay Ideas
-Avatars pair up with Humans, humans don't realise it
-Humans start to make wishes that the Avatars grant, much hilarity and flim-flammery ensues
-Humans probably notice some of the stuff that's happening
-Humans probably have to deal with some wishes they didn't really want to come true
-Avatars generally babysit the humans [aka prevent them from going stark raving mad] [see: hilarity and flim-flammery]
-Humans probably start to realise the Avatars are up to something
-They might make friends or become utter enemies
-Humans start to develop unique Wishing traits relating to their personality
-Bureau is probably pretty happy about how things are doing
-Avatars might start developing human characteristics
-Bureau don't notice otherwise they wouldn't be so happy

At Some Point
-Friendships, storylines, awesome things like that
-Joker and Judgement start causing REAL Trouble for the pairs
-Humans and Avatars are forced to work together, humans are forced to improve their wishing abilities
-Probably lots of skirmishes with Joker and Judgement, battling, destroying cities and things
-Joker/Judgement may reveal their intentions to the group: BIG PLOT TWIST maybe

-Bureau getting a bit antsy [either with Avatar developement or with Joker/Judgement causing trouble]
-Bureau want to silence Joker/Judgement // Bureau wants to prevent the humans finding out about- darn i'm not sneaky.
-Bureau might enlist the help of a human, explain their opinion on Joker/Judgement, explain information regarding the Wishing experiment
-Bureau eventually sends in the big guns [depending on the success of Judgement/Joker, depending on the viewpoints of the humans] aka the three awesome characters who are Bureau Members

Later on down the Road
-Humans have developed epic powers and abilities and are powerful enough to go to the Aether without being all loony crazypants
-Humans have taken on their roles and inherited i'm still not sneaky., Avatars also awaken as their equivalent thing that I'm still not going to tell just yet. The True Power thing is something I'm keeping secret for now <3
-Joker and Judgement are still forging their own path, whether they join the humans or continue what they are doing is up to them.
-Faceoff with the Bureau in all it's glory
-This is still a secret too, sorry, but I promise it's super epic, and relates to the very last revelation of the roleplay. if it happens.

Other random things I've thought about but aren't really all that interesting and won't necessarily happen but it's kind of cool thinking about them anyway
1. Someone does go full-blown mad. Completely insane. Maybe from seeing the aether too soon or overloading themselves with too many wishes.
2. Someone... never actually works out that they're paired with their Avatar till the very end.
3. An Avatar goes rogue, gets some information they shouldn't have access too, get's "reprogrammed" if you could call it that.
4. The above could end in the Bureau wiping that Avatar, or them taking matter into their own hands.
5.What happens if some of the current pairs team up with Judgement/Joker and if some of them team up with the Bureau - aka people end up on different sides? This one could completely change the roleplay entirely if things happened that way.
6. I was thinking more about an Avatar having two charges and having to run around after both of them (and later, when humans are more powerful, how that effects the later style of the roleplay). However, I would ONLY do this if someone was really desperate to play a human character and someone playing an Avatar character was super excited to have two charges.
:well: Ok that looks alot more then it actually is. And again, NONE of it is set in stone, these are all mostly potentials how things could turn out based on the roleplay mechanics, how we as players want to do things, and how the IC goes. The biggest part of the roleplay is the Wishing, it should be the focus, before any of the other plot elements.

Please Please Please throw some ideas around!!
...They fuel the roleplay-plot deamon in my soul/s] :derp:

GFDMI I WISH I HAD TRAVIS!!! I mean, I love Kurt to death and I have a whole bunch of ideas for him developing into a great leader and all but I have all these ideas for Travis now! Just him going from a spinless wimp to a secret powerhouse or maybe going crazy or both! And I was thinking about this scene in my head with him and an army of demon animals....

I am also one of the people playing the Bureau. :yarly:

Quick question: Based on your long list of ideas, I'm inclined to believe that both Joker and Judgment are the main antagonists while the Bureau is simply making a preemptive measure. Are they main antagonists or just chaotically neutral?

At that, just what is their role in the story specifically? :orly:

Yes. Yes they are :woo: (I was going to try and dodge the question, but I thought that'd be too obvious and you'd work it out anyway  Plus I like discussing things... let me know if I'm typing too much :splat:)

The Bureau is the behind the scenes puppet master and actually the main antagonist, however, they take the position of observer early on because it's in their best interest (if all went to perfect plan, they'd never reveal themselves at all) but actually they are the biggest threat - To pretty much everything that has or has not existed :derp: oogabooga However, it would be very easy for the humans to never even realise this at all, and go on about the experiment, never knowing anything outside of the average human's understanding.

Judgement and Joker are the chaotic element. They could be considered both the good guys and the bad guys, either/or, or neither. They have their own goal that they wish to fulfill at all costs. They want to ruin everything for everyone, basically, and Joker hates the Bureau with the passion of a thousand suns

There's really no straight line of good guys bad guys in this roleplay. We have:
Spoiler
1. The assumed innocent human, the only being capable of emotional thought and creative power. Unknown to them they are the absolute most powerful "faction" in the roleplay. Depending on their wishes, they could be extremely destructive or benefitial. Furthermore, they are unknowingly pushing foreward in the Bureau's goal. If they did know about the Bureau's goal, and continued to help, they would arguably be the most evil, although currently, they are perhaps the most innocent.

2. The Avatar, devoid of emotion, the instigator/guardian of the Human's wishes. They are a conduit for the ether energy and they combine it with the human's Wish. With the current exception of Judgement, they follow their duty without even questioning it. hnng I don't want to spoil too much, but they are NOT more innocent then the humans (one might think so because they are unable to question, but -->). Think about it this way - the Bureau trained them up and sent them down here for a purpose. I don't want to compare them to machines too much because they are organic/ether beings and they are capable of learning emotion from humans (even though they're not supposed to as commanded by the Bureau gee I wonder why) - but.. the avatars are sort of like boobytrapped computers. Perhaps they once had some very sensitive information, information that would stay in that computer forever and ever and ever, on them that they didn't want people to know about. The computers themselves are very powerful that you'd want to keep them in use. So what would you do?

3. Joker and Judgement. I would love their lore to be revealed IC to people when the time is right, so I won't say much and spoil their fun - but their aim is total anarchy pretty much, at most any (human understanding of it) expense. They have a strong motive for what they're doing, one that could be seen as either good or evil. They cause trouble for everyone - humans, avatar, Bureau alike. they could definitely be called the worst antagonists, or they could be called the greatest martyrs.

4. The Bureau. Here's the thing, the Bureau believe what they are doing is right too, and there is also no guarentee much would change, for the human world, if they accomplished their goals. In fact things would probably continue very much identically as they are for eternity, and the Bureau would never have done anything directly evil towards humans apart from let them live their lives in specific, Bureau hand-crafted, ways. In this way, the Bureau could be considered completely harmless. The Bureau, like avatars, are logic-based and have no emotional or creative energy. They are, however, goal-orientated, have a plan, and don't see any alternative paths to the one that is most beneficial for them. They see it as the only way. There are things that they want and are trying to get - currently they have no reason to act in a way that is violent or malicious, they see it as a waste of resources, and they don't feel threatened.

But unlike Joker/Judgement or the humans, they have no moral compass whatsoever. and unlike Avatars, they aren't working for anyone else but themselves. They would be willing to completely reconstitute the configuration of every atom in the universe if it suited them. They wouldn't think twice about the consequences, what or who would die, even if all things were wiped out. And the only reason they haven't yet is because humans are unknowingly standing in their way.

But, at the same time, there are things that make them "good". The Bureau didn't always act in this way, for example. There were certain events that caused them to get to this stage, which were caused by humans in the first place.
Gosh, I'm scared I'm going to reveal too much and spoil the tension, or not reveal enough and confuse people xD

so basically:
+ Humans are the most unstable and powerful element. In the long term, there is no way of telling what they will wish for, whether they will cause good or bad. However, this element could be manipulated to act in certain ways, and some of their reactions could be predicted based on previous reactions.

+ Avatars are an element that will always act in a predictable way. They do their role efficiently without complaint. When exposed to the Human element, though, they can start acting unpredictably.

+Judgement and Joker are an explosive element. They are very clearly dangerous and must be treated with caution by everyone.

+The Bureau would be an innoculous element. It wouldn't appear to do anything at all, it would be grey and uninteresting. This would be the type of element, though, that'd poison you slowly - or suck the air out of the room without you realising. While it seems safe, it is a silent killer.
