To Everyone: I'm sorry I haven't gotten around to posting but I just haven't felt up to par with everyone in the roleplay. You see, while I'm fully capable of doing ten paragraphs for a post, it wears me out so that, after a week of doing so, I end up just getting way too lazy and just up and quitting because I can't bear making so many paragraphs in a post in order to keep up with everyone else's paragraph writing for days on end. It highly decreases my muse when I end up doing five paragraphs a post three times a day or seven or so times a week and I quickly lose interest in trying to keep up with everyone else.

So I'm afraid I may either have to drop out or you can just have me come back for, idk, use my characters for plot points or something. Kind of like those background characters that make it into a tv show or two as a supporting character to further a plot for a tv series but aren't seen again for another like, ten shows.

But yea... I just figured I ought to say something for once unlike every other time where I just faded away.
NekoKyu wrote:Oh no, I understood completely what you meant. What I was saying was that, although it could be seen as logical for characters to only rewind to the age when the first entered the Rift, my writing style would instead have them keep rewinding until the disappear. Because, to my mind, the way to survive in the Rift is to adapt. And if someone doesn't adapt fast enough, the idea that the could essentially fix their mistakes and go back to a safe time for themselves defeats the whole purpose. Not only that, but I see the Rift as less of a place where the characters are suddenly "born into" (for lack of a better word) at X age, and more as a place that removes their entire existence from reality. So their entire life exists there because removing only the age when they wished still leaves the Creator a bunch of loose ends (can't have missing person reports running around). I don't think that explains it very well, but I just see the Rift as not being able to distinguish between the age that the character was banished and any age before that because they still exist inside the Rift. Which is why, while I see how placing a age cap would be reasonable, I would have to say no because it doesn't fit into my definition of the Rift. Hopefully at least some of that has some sort of semblance of sense.
Also, Neko, I wasn't saying they could do it anytime they want, I was saying when their mental sanity starts to balance out. It wouldn't happen any other time, only when they start to become sane again would they slowly revert back to a 'safe' age. It would happen over time just like the insanity aging would.

But, as I might have said, it's your roleplay. I'm just putting out the idea so that, those of our characters who wouldn't ICly be sane for a while, can go back to a safer age so they aren't 'forced' to kill their character and it also wouldn't be weird if they got into a relationship with a younger character.

And yes, while love should have no defined age distance, it may still be weird or may even offend someone without us meaning to. This is just my viewpoint in looking out for others' religions, beliefs, pet peeves, and whatnot.

Spoiler
@nyn: You're not the only one. :yarly: I have a bad habit of torturing my characters into psychotic break downs. Plus, stories are very interesting that way, which is why I tend to put in so many twists and turns.

Ohh, I see. Well, here's hoping that it all becomes no longer confusing and works out well for you. ^_^ I've had girls I thought were my friends threaten me because I happened to be friends with the guy they had crushes on, so I'm glad that things didn't turn out like that.

Maybe you two had a strong mental connection for that moment only that caused you both to have the same idea? I find it so interesting when that happens with people. Also, but weirdos and psychotics as awesome! We're like evil genius. :3 And congrats on the good grade for you story! Image

Yeah, underdogs rule! :woo: Unlike fairies, we can win whether people believe in us or not. Image

@roseshine: Thank you for telling us, as I appreciate being made aware of the situation.

That's why a character's aging is completely up to their roleplayer. No one would be forced to kill their character when they don't want to. No one should be forced to do anything with their character that they don't want to. It's truly up to the roleplayers interpretation as to how fast their character would age. Strictly speaking, even if insanity were to speed up a characters aging, there's still a lot of room there to decide. For example, someone could age in the blink of an eye, or they could simply age 1.5 times faster. Even aging twice as fast would still mean they'd have six months before they're another year older. And unless this roleplay were to span months on end, any affect of aging from the Rift would be barely noticeable, unless of course the roleplay wanted it to be obvious that their character was aging a bit faster than normal. Even then, aging is noticed in more ways that just growing older. For one, hair and nails grow much faster than we grow wrinkles or get taller. If someone wanted their character to grow older without actually getting visibly "older", all they'd need to do is give the character longer hair or some facial 'stach. Even though I say insanity causes people to age in the Rift, roleplayers still retain so much control over their characters, and that includes the relation between insanity and aging.
After some consideration and discussion with other minds, I have come to the conclusion to restart this roleplay. I fear that the motivation may have dropped to keep this idea alive, so I've decided to give it a fresh start. This would allow me to further elaborate on the Rift, Creator, and everything else about the roleplay, and perhaps attract some new members. To those that are still interested in this idea of mine, you're more than welcome to tag along. I simply feel this would be the best course of action. To avoid potentially scaring off new members, I will be making a new thread for both the RP and OoC, and locking the old ones. Thanks to everyone for your time and support. ^_^
