No no! It's NEVER too late. In fact, the only time where I'll disallow new entries is at the final stages of the roleplay...which are, obviously, not even close to happening yet.
The attack on Yggdrasil is just the starting point. If you are a shadow, you could work with The other Shadows to avenge the deaths of your comrades in Yggdrasil or by following the leaders (TazzyGal, Bananaman and Shade, Ebony and Ivory (Me).
If you are a Purgatory Mercanary or Bystander, you could be informed about the event at Yggdrasil.
Like said, no worries. You're never too late.
Just go along with the story.
