I understand.
It occurs to me that since Jane, originally, could influence negative emotions in others, she could make Ruth, in our private, really scared, so that she wouldn't think of her ability. And meanwhile, without meaning to, she'd help Alan out a little by letting her anger and fury leak into him, which also helped fuel his own personal fury. Since he can be quite scary when roused. If her anger got poured on his, it would be like gasoline on a fire...*pictures the scene* What do you think?
