Living in the Kingdom of the Sun being one of the best places for a young Prince like Sam to grow up as it is highly protected from the threats of the outside world, the teen has so far lived a relatively care free life apart from schooling and its many Boredoms that come along with it, his father's protection being lenient at best due to the Kingdom's remote location. The threat of war, unlike with so many other lands, being far away and the last thing on many people's minds, the Kingdom has flourished in terms of social progress and advances in science, Sam's various others siblings doing most of the work that he would otherwise be taught in as he is last in line to the throne, being the youngest among them.

This peaceful era is not without its problems though, despite the cheery exterior the Kingdom of the Sun attempts to promote.

The very sun the land is named after repeatedly drying up lakes and rivers and creating massive droughts for those outside the kingdom's walls, no rain has fallen for nearly three years and the situation is only due to get worse, supplies running short and crops beginning to fail due to the lack of precipitation. The only way it seems this problem can be solved is by creating trading pacts between the nearest Kingdom, the distant and much-feared land of Shadows.

The King of the Sun calling to order a meeting with the King of shadows to discuss how this deal could possibly go through, it isn't long before the Shadow king develops an interest in young Prince Samuel, the thought of being able to have a crutch in the sun Kingdom's political field being more tempting than any trade of gold or silver. Prince Samuel not being the most important figure in the royal lineage due to being the youngest among the king's heirs, he doesn't have much of a voice in the matter as it is hastily decided that he will be set as a courtesan to the Shadow king in return for 50 years of water to the sun Kingdom.

Sam's life as a courtesan to his new master being an unnerving one at best, he soon discovers there is a fine line between being treated like a precious pet and a much-belated slave, his actions daily being a walk between being severely beaten (or worse) or being given treatment that even the former Prince might find over the top. His main source of comfort being the King's son, a rather handsome boy that care's for Sam's wounds in secret, it isn't long before they begin to develop a bond of sorts that might just get them both to a new life they crave.

'A-almost there, just a bit more....'

Standing atop a rugged old tree branch as he balanced rather precariously alongside the edge of the rotting, dark limb, Young Prince Samuel had a habit of getting himself into bad situations one way or another, often times winding up stuck in a ditch or perhaps becoming stranded on some river boulder's when he overestimated his abilities to swim the fast current. Currently, the teen had his wild eyes on something shiny and just out of reach on the farthest branch of an old oak tree, the thought of falling thirty or so feet to the ground being the last thing on the Prince's mind as he was attempting to knock a low hanging fruit, likely the last of the season, onto the ground so he could have bragging rights until the next Fall season came around.

Was it stupid? Why, yes it was, but this was life for the youngest son of the aptly named Sun King.

Having nearly nothing to do with the court life unlike his elder siblings, Sam was allowed to run free from a young age, the peace in the Sun Kingdom being unparallel to many other villages and towns scattered around the medium sized planet. Sure, there was occasionally thievery, but those types were quickly dealt with and the Kingdom returned to 'peace' just as soon, any thought of murder, bribery, or corruption being laughable at best. For this reason, King Octavius had had little fear of allowing Sam to run wild instead of keeping him locked away like some precious jewel, the thought of having such an unruly child in his court being a terrible nuisance anyway to the aging man.....

'Got it!~'

Any thoughts of not being allowed into his father's courts leaving Sam's mind as soon as he managed finally to knock the last of the paw fruit off the long hanging tree branch, the freckle faced teen had a mile long grin on his face as he quickly scampered down the trunk and went to retrieve his prize, a bit of bark clinging to the Prince's hair as he made sure to wrap the fruit in a protective cloth before putting it in his bag for safe keeping. As soon as he got back to the city and was able to show off his rare treat he would eat it, but not before dousing it in sugary sweet syrup that only managed to enhance the taste, if only in his own mind.

-----------------------------------

Meanwhile, things not seeming to be going so well for the since named King Octavius as the man had only this morning called an emergency meeting of the court, it was common knowledge that water supplies in the Kingdom of the Sun were running low, much of the land having been in a deep drought for the past three years or more, leading to massive crop failures and wildfires that were once quite uncommon for the people of the land. Up until now, the Sun Kingdom had been able to live on its underground reserves in which each village, town, and city was allowed a quota of the previous liquid, but now....things were taking a turn for the worse....

Reports having come in late the night before about pipes running dry and various, isolated pockets of civilians taking the brute of the heat wave as no help could get to them in the time it took to make the remote treck's, King Octavius knew that something, anything, had to be done to somehow secure a new source of water for the Kingdom, the lands suspicious lack of wars being a benefit as it made it easier to ally with other planets for resources. This not being without its challenges though as the Sun Kingdom had precious little to export in exchange for goods, the King had made a difficult decision overnight concerning this matter, Samuel, unfortunately, being a key part of it as he was socially the least important member of the royal lineage and thus, relatively disposable.

King Octavius having arranged this meeting to be between him, a few close advisors, and a figure that was simply known as the 'King of Shadows' to many, the hard willed man had little to fear from his neighboring Kingdom's leader, the both of them having to benefit from this deal in many ways if it went through. Samuel not having been invited as he could not be easily found in the vast range that was the land of Sun, instead, a King Octavius had decided a portrait of the Prince would be enough to suffice for now to see if the notorious King of Shadows even had any interest in the pawn that was Prince Samuel.

Kasperi had gotten used to being alone, to being isolated and treated like he didn't matter. In truth, he didn't, his father no longer loved him, resented him due to how he looked. He reminded his father too much of his wife, of Kasperi's mother. Even the thought pained the young prince, and he found it hard to live with the thoughts. He missed his mother greatly, he knew his father did as well.

Miriam Reijonen, even saying the names within range of the King would send the poor, grieving man into a pure fit of rage, despite the fact that it had been many long years since his wives passing. Kasperi missed talking about her, hearing stories of his mother, reliving the memories that would make her feel real once more. Kasperi longed for the affection of his father, the same affection he remembered so fondly to have been real, but it would never again be real. He was a bitter reminded, punished purely for the fact he was his mother's spitting image. The boy was shattered.

The young prince would often spend his time in the studies, reading over books and learning the best he could from the advisers to one day take over for his father when he could no longer rule. He knew he was nothing compared to his great father, that he would never be as great a ruler as him, but he tried so hard, so desperately to gain some sort of affection and acknowledgment from the king, anything to tell the poor boy that he was still wanted and loved. None such thing ever came however. Kasperi understood why his father treated him this way, but a part of him continued to long for better times.

Kasperi had heard whispers and rumors floating on the wind that the neighboring kingdom was in trouble. A lack of water, a lack of life in general. So many people, and so little resources. A frown crossed his face, he knew of the troubles. Their own kingdom had once been plagued by droughts, with disease, death and poverty. He was no stranger to heartbreak and hardships. He knew it was none of his business, tried to push the thoughts to the back of his mind, but he soon heard that they were considering relations with his own kingdom, a kingdom known for it's evil, dark ways, for the blackness that crept over the entirety and shrouded it in mystery.

He was shocked to say the least, even more shocked to learn that his father had agreed to visit the land. It was unlike the king, he refused to help a great many even when wars would break out and lives were lost in large numbers. His father wasn't caring, wasn't gentle, didn't much think of others, only himself. Why was he doing this? What was he getting in return? It was always about the king, after all. Always. He pursed his lips as he thought, a distasteful look spread across his face, and a growing fury in his chest. He was the prince, next in line, the only heir. Why was he never included?

Kasperi huffed, stamping his foot before he left in a hurry to track down his father. He knew he should calm himself down, not to yell at his father. If he did, it would only lead to trouble for the young prince, but it didn't matter. He was growing tired of being not included in the conversations, in the politics, of what happened in his own home. He lived here, he worked with the people, he cared more about the kingdom than he was sure his father did, and here he was, making deals for what? His own selfish needs? Kasperi let out a frustrated sigh, stopping short of his father's private study.

He could hear voices behind the door, talking in hushed whispers, but he could still make out bits and pieces. Suddenly, his anger dissipated and left him with a now burning curiosity as he grew closer to the door, quietly and with soft steps. He leaned against the deep mahogany colored door, his hand gently placed over one of the delicately crafted symbols and crests as he rested his ear against the wood.

It was the day before the meeting for Ezekiel, he needed to plan out everything just right, make sure that every detail was in perfect order before he would agree to any terms. He had heard that the Sun kingdom had a bargaining chip, something that was promised to pique the old man's interest, and he was quite curious, that much was for sure. He grinned at the thought of the prospect of something... new, and delicate, something he could break down. Of course he hoped the object in question could withstand the abuse, for the king was a rather demanding man.

He hadn't included his son in the conversations or the debates, for it was pointless and a waste of time. The young prince was pathetic and not worthy of the title of being the son of the great king of Ailanevia. Ezekiel was a king known for stopping wars and ending famines, while his potato of a son could barely bat a hand at a butterfly. He would endure the little pest however, for he owed that much to his late wife, who he doted on and worshiped as if she was a Goddess. She had adored Kasperi and loved him more than maybe she loved her husband, digging knives deep and leaving behind wounds that would never heal. His hand closed into a fist, his knuckles turning white at the thought he soon relaxed, returning his troubled mind to the topic at hand.

He had discussed the matter with his advisers and general and deemed the offer worthy enough to condone a personal visit to the land of the sun to see exactly if the offer was indeed as good as offered. If it was, the king would not have any trouble giving up rain for the next 50 years. By then, someone else would have the throne, and Ezekiel would no longer give a damn. He'd be dead or dying and it would be upon someone else's shoulders whether this small kingdom lived or died with him. Of course that man would not be his son if he had any say in the matter.

The next day he left for the neighboring kingdom, joy in his heart for the first time in a very long time. Ezekiel was happy, with a small smile on his face instead of his once permanent scowl, and it startled his advisers and his close personal guard, but no one questioned it. No one would question it as long as their majesty was happy, it had been so long since...

Ezekiel walked the halls of the castle, not seeming interested in anything but the deal that would soon hopefully get agreed upon, and he turned his mild happiness away, his serious appearance and stern personality returning. He had to prove he was a strong king, for anything else would mean he was unfit of his duties. He would play nice until he had what he wanted, give what King Octavius wanted in return and leave on his merry way with his new prized possesion.

"Ah! Hello, King Octavius, it's good to finally meet you!" Ezekiel exclaimed, a bright shining smile spread across his face as he extended his arms for a brief moment before only holding out one to shake the other man's hand. "I'm so sorry to hear that you haven't been having any luck with rain as of late. It's such a shame... but hopefully, we're here to fix that." The king said with a wide grin, eyeing the king for a moment.

"Now, shall we begin discussing this deal?" Ezekiel asked, walking with the king back to the tables. He noticed a portrait at one end, and his eyebrow raised. "Excuse the out of line talk, but I thought we agreed upon something more... real?" The man asked, turning his gaze back to the other man, his hand reaching up to scratch at his beard. He felt a growing anger, and suddenly felt tense but pushed it back, allowing him to speak and explain himself.

Sam continuing to grin rather wildly at the fact that he had successfully collected the last of the season's paw fruits from the forest, it was honestly one of the few things that the boy and his father could even truly talk about together as they both shared an enjoyment of the rare treat, the Prince sometimes giving them to the aging King as a peace offering on the very rare occasions that he got into trouble and his father took notice. Of course, apart from the fact that they both loved paw fruit, the King and Prince couldn't have been farther apart, Octavius being one of the most politically minded men in the Sun Kingdom while Sam was...simply put, as soft as a new peach when it came to anything even remotely of the court. That wasn't to say the Prince hadn't ever taken part in the politics though, no, he had done it before and found an immense displeasure in talking about civilians as if they were cattle, most of his days afterward having been spent in the forest while his eldest sibling took the reins of duties.

The teen planning on returning to the Kingdom for once as he wanted to share his treat with his father to make up some a certain spilled paint incident last week, Sam was unaware that his fate was being decided behind the honey colored walls he had come to both love and despise, any thought on being some sort of 'courtesan' to anyone, whatever that was, never even having crossed his mind. For that matter, Sam had rarely even given thought to what might happen one day when his father inevitably passed and his less than kind eldest sibling Yulgud took the throne, the man often calling him a 'stain' on the Kingdom due to his mother's unfortunate circumstances when it came to his birth. The poor woman had gone into early labor and had passed away from complications not soon after Sam was born, Yulgud claiming it was because his sibling was 'cursed' and sometimes going as far to claim that he shouldn't have been born in the first place.

Did it hurt to hear sometimes? Well, yes...but Sam had never seen his mother and as thus felt no real connection to her like his siblings did, her being yet another faceless royal to the Prince as he was soon within sight of the familiar Kingdom walls, something seeming to be uneasy in the air to the teen as he approached what was supposed to be his home. A few guards standing watch as always on the lookout for potential intruders, Sam gave them a slight nod as he went his familiar route into the gilded halls and open air ceilings of his father's castle, the teen feeling like an unwanted pest as he hugged his bag tightly to his stomach nervously. Why did everything seem so cold all of a sudden?...why was he getting the feeling that it was a good idea to run into the forest and never look back?....

------------------------------

Back in the meeting room though the situation seemed only a bit bright on King Octavius's side, the gray bearded man clearly not enjoying the thought of having to send away his youngest son as some sort of pawn for such a simple resource as water. Yes, young Prince Samuel would have likely been married off eventually to some far off kingdom to secure some treaty, but sending him to someone as notorious as King Ezekial was rather drastic seeing as he would likely be treated no better than a slave, and perhaps even worse than that. The most that King Octavius could hope for was that Ezekial would be willing to at least allow Samuel the same freedom he enjoyed in the Sun Kingdom, the thought of the wild teen being truly put under lock and key being enough to even make the hardened man's soul ache a bit. Someone like Samuel needed freedom, not to be sealed away and treated like some China doll.

The tired King's eyes lighting up only slightly when King Ezekial made his appearance in the meeting room as was expected, Octavius gave only what could be described as hopeful nod to the tall, imposing man as he seemed to be a bit startled by the King's rather cheery way of speaking, "oh yes, it is nice to meet you too". His voice being more weary than usual as it was clear he had been debating for more than just a bit of time on if he really would let this deal go through, giving away Sam was truly going to be for the good of the kingdom, whether he or Sam liked it or not, "I do hope we can find a...eh, solution to this matter as well". Shaking King Ezekiel's hand rather stiffly as he went to take a seat at the table, King Octavius couldn't deny that he was a little unnerved by the way the Shadow King eyed him up. How many times would Sam have to deal with this, even if it was likely inherently harmless?

Almost having forgotten about the portrait he had brought of Sam though by the time Ezekiel pointed it out, Octavious had to blink a few times before he realized that the man was, in fact, referring to the oil image on plaster on Sam only a year or so ago sitting near the garden wall, the picture portraying a rather delicate one that denied the fact that it had taken nearly an hour to get the anxious teen to sit still and stop fidgeting, "I wouldn't worry about that too much, sir. You see, our...your Sam is quite a hard teen to track down sometimes so my advisors suggested a portrait might suffice to see if he is to your liking for now". Octavious having a bitter feeling in his mouth as he intensely disliked talking about his son like this, the King was unaware that Samuel had silently crept up near the door when he had noticed it locked shut, the ginger haired teen trying his best to hear what was going on inside the meeting room.

Kasperi had been left behind, advisers being left in charge of the kingdom in the king's absence. It sent the boy on edge, and anger flowed through him. The young prince was by no means a violent man, only inheriting a nasty temperament from his father but a understanding and the ability to control his demons from his mother. However, when the boy got angry... things didn't go very well. He paced in his room, his hands clenched tightly in fists, his nails digging into his palms and leaving deep purple marks. He gritted his teeth, his eyes narrowed and burning holes through anything he looked at.

He wasn't good enough, he would never be good enough. What was even the point to keeping him around? His father would never appreciate what he did try to do, would never notice him, would never give him praise or love or affection.

SMASH

Glass shattered, flying and scattering, the floor covered in shards of marbled glass. Kasperi stood there, tears welling in his eyes and running down his cheeks, staining them as his chest heaved. He couldn't live like this anymore, he couldn't believe he was nothing to his father, though he supposed in a way he had always known. A guard knocked on the door, startling the young prince.

"Prince Kasperi, are you okay? I heard something breaking." The guard spoke, a gentle tone to his voice.

Kasperi took a deep breath, being brought back to reality. He realized he had forgotten to breathe, forgotten to blink. He took another deep breath then frantically wiped at his eyes to dry the tears. "I'm fine! I just.... I just knocked over a vase." He said, his voice wavering and cracking. There was a pause at the door.

"Okay... I'll get a maid to clean it up for you, if you'd like." The guard spoke, Kasperi shook his head despite the fact the man couldn't see.

"No, it's fine... I'll pick it up..." The prince said, sighing and rubbing at his face tiredly. "Fuck..." He whispered under his breath, kneeling on the ground.

He gingerly picked up the delicate pieces of a once beautiful vase and set them in the near by trash can, focusing on his breathing and turning away from his thoughts. Darkness was bubbling up, and he hated the feeling of helplessness. He was so lonely, and without affection. He didn't know how anyone could live so isolated from everything, from family, from friends. It drove him nuts.

Ezekiel could tell the king was on edge, nerves obviously getting to him and he honestly didn't blame him. He was giving up one of his children, and by the attitude, he at least gave a little care for the child unlike Ezekiel himself, who rarely even noticed that his boy existed. He offhandedly made sure Kasperi was well, but aside that he didn't pay any attention to him.

He clasped his hands together, giving the king a small, sympathetic smile. While it would be no trouble for the king himself to give up his only child, he was sure it weighed heavily on the tired looking man in front of him, despite the fact he had many offspring already. It seemed Ezekiel didn't have his priorities together, but ah well.

"I apologize, I must seem selfish. I don't mean too, kind Octavious. Pardon my rude manners. Of course it is a mere portrait, I wouldn't doubt you as much to cheat me." He said, his voice silk, "I was just a little shocked, disappointed even that I couldn't meet the fine young Prince."

Ezekiel took a seat and scratched at his beard once more. "Of course, there's an easy solution to every problem." He looked back at his adviser that had followed with him, and the lanky, tall man quickly handed over a folder, and the king gave him a small smile.

"In here, I've stated everything that I'm willing to give in return for... Sam." He said, looking towards the king and raising an eyebrow. He hadn't met the boy, hadn't much seen him and didn't know anything of him, only learning his name recently and much later in the negations, but for some reason it didn't matter. As long as Sam lived up to what was promised, he was sure he'd be pleased with the trade.

"Fifty years of water, and emerceny rations to last long enough to get your crops started up again. Of course, the rations won't feed everyone but it's enough to get your farmers started up again." Ezekiel explained, slipping on his glasses and skimming over the documents in his hands to ensure he didn't miss anything of importance before he slid the documents towards king Octavious to review. "If everything's satisfactory to you, then the trade of water and rations will begin immediately."

Sam being in the wrong place at the wrong time it seemed as he could have easily been miles away by now if he knew what awaited him behind the gilded doors of the meeting room, the unfortunate teen was too curious for his own good as he wanted to hear what was going on with his father and what was likely a military leader of some sort, the teen having never experienced anything even close to war. Becuase of this, it was a fascinating thought rather than a terrifying one to imagine thirty thousand men lining up for battle, arms drawn and ready to fire, Sam almost drifting into a daydream as he didn't realize that a pair of guards were approaching to apprehend him as they had been directed to do earlier if the Prince was spotted, other scouts having been set out to scour the forest for him earlier to prevent a wild goose chase if the deal with the Shadow King went through.

"Prince Samuel, we have orders to send you to your father", One of the guards speaking up in a deep voice that caused the unwary Sam to nearly jump a mile in the air at the unexpected order, the teen frowned quickly for a moment as his mouth fell open for a moment, his father almost never wanting to see him for anything that he didn't bring the old man himself, "u-uh, I....alright". Nodding slightly as he didn't sense anything wrong with at least going to talk to his father, the teen didn't realize how lucky he was for obeying. If he had chosen not to meet with his father the guards had been ordered to use physical force to subdue the teen in preparation to give him over to King Ezekial, Sam giving the pair a wary eye as he didn't get why they seemed so tense, "I guess I'll see you in a while then".

Trying to ignore the tense guards that he knew were watching him as he walked into the shadowy meeting room, it took a few seconds for the blinking teen to realize that his father was not meeting with just some old general or something as the heavy doors shut behind him ominously, his heart dropping at the sight of an unfamiliar figure sitting across from his father that he immediately got a terrible vibe from. His shirt speckled with mud and his pants being torn from climbing up the paw tree earlier, Sam wasn't exactly in the most presentable condition and he knew it, his blue eyes wide and confused as he saw his father muttering 'yes' under his breath repeatedly in agreement to some sort of document that he held in his hands, "you ordered me to come here, father?". His voice nervous as he made sure to keep a respectable, and fearful distance, from the stranger before him, Sam didn't realize he was accidentally crushing the paw fruit in his bag out of tenseness.

King Octavius barely making eye contact with his son as he seemed to be more interested in the document that he had been handed instead, the aging man was smart enough to know over the years that the best way to break a bond like this was to simply let the 'problem' go without making too much of a fuss, this deal being more than worth the 'price' of Samuel being handed over to King Ezekial. Yes, it was cruel, but this was the way politics worked in these lands and Sam needed to learn his place, the King's advisors seeming wary as they were likely wondering if this deal would go through or not as well, "yes, yes, this deal will do very much. In return for this...hm, trade, I trust you will be sure to give Samuel the best possible care one can in his position, correct?".

Sam meanwhile though seeming to be trying to make heads or tails of what was going on, it still hadn't clicked in the naive teen's mind that his own father had traded him for water and resources over flesh and blood, him remaining warily near the room exit despite a trio of advisors walking in front of it to block Sam's escape route. They had been informed that Sam was a runner and were not planning on taking any chances of having to chase down the Prince simply to still have to hand over the stressed out teen to King Ezeikal like some kind of mindless item, "Father, tell me what is going on here, who is this??".

Ezekiel heard the door open, a smile spread across his face as watched as a young boy walked through the large gilded doors. He was much alike the portrait, but so much more real, better than he could have ever imagined. He kept his smile from growing, his desires bubbling up and thoughts attempting to take him over. The trade wasn't over, Sam wasn't his yet, he needed to keep himself collected and together until he returned to the privacy of his own home.

He looked over to the other man sitting at the table with him, the father of the young prince, and a small frown spread across his face despite the joyous moment. He seemed to be suddenly distancing himself away from his own flesh and blood, and while he understood it, he was sure his new prize didn't. He would be in for a rude awakening when he finally realized that everyone lies and everyone in the end is only out to protect themselves, at any cost, even at the cost of giving up a child they knew would not have such a luxurious life.

Of course Ezekiel didn't plan on abusing or miss treating the young boy unless of course Sam resisted or refused, but with training and time he would be treated well, loved greatly. The king wrung his hands, and he returned his attention to the documents, to the trade that would finalize everything. When the king spoke of treating Sam well, a wholehearted laugh escaped him, and he gave the man a bright smile before his gaze drifted to his son. "I wouldn't dream of harming him in any way. He will be treated very nicely." He spoke, though he knew what the King was thinking, he could see it upon Sam's clothes. He was a wild child, unruly and untamed. Something that he hadn't been expecting.

He had been expecting royalty, someone more... sophisticated, much like Octavius' other children, the ones he had seen running around doing business or talking to advisers. It was clear that Sam had been recently outside, his muddy clothes were torn and his blonde hair was tussled with twigs and leaves sticking out of it. Though the boy had charm, had a cute face, and Ezekiel was sure he could tame the boy somehow. An added challenge he thought, and a grin crossed his face.

At the finalization of the documents, both kings had signed their names. Ezekiel couldn't be more pleased at the thoughts running through his head, along with the boy that would now be considered his. Standing in the middle of the room, Sam looked uncomfortable, looked nervous. He was mildly shaking and clutching his bag, and it broke the old, bitter king's heart for a moment. Walking over to Sam, Ezekiel easily stood over the boy, and he smiled softly down upon him, his hand reaching up and brushing his hair back out of his face, and pulling a few twigs free. "Stop looking so nervous, young one." He said, his voice gentle and easy to hear.

"I'm sure you're confused by what's going on." He said, looking back at Sam's father for a moment, who looked even more uncomfortable, a guilty look all over his face and his body language. He looked visibly upset from the transaction, but the poor man had had no choice.

Ezekiel knelled a little to look at the boy in the eyes. "My name is Ezekiel, I'm the King of Ailanevia, more commonly known I suppose as the Shadow Kingdom." He said, "I know it's hard to hear, and you may not wish to listen, but you'll be coming to live with me from today onward."

"What is going on, father?", Sam putting more emphasis on King Octavius's title as he received no responses from the gray bearded man on the second time he asked what was going on, the Prince was becoming more and more unhappy with the heavy feeling that was engulfing the room like a blanket in Summer, the stranger across from his father not seeming like someone that was from around these parts. The way the apparent royalty was acting was uncommon for the customs of the Sun Kingdom, even someone as free born as Sam being able to tell he was most likely from some other Kingdom that wasn't just Taventry or Solosis. This man...who was he, and why was his father suddenly becoming so distant as if he had done something to anger the King? "tell me what is g-going on now or I will leave!".

His path out of the meeting room being blocked by a trio of intimidating looking advisors though, Sam's threat had little way of leading anywhere as he wasn't exactly the most muscled boy in the Sun Kingdom as much as he was fast, his chance of getting past them being so low that the teen didn't even take the chance yet. Instead, the Prince's eyes were focused more on the way his father was acting as the stranger across from his claimed that 'he wouldn't dream of harming 'him' in any way'. What was this?...they weren't talking about him, were they? No, they couldn't be. After all, what other time had he been a part of his father's politics besides now? Surely they were simply talking about sending Tremaine off to becoming a knight or some other such nonsense, right?

King Octavius not giving Samuel so much as a glance as he finalized the paper's agreeing to this trade with King Ezekial, Sam pursed his lips as he was beginning to feel more and more invisible, his grip on his bag having managed to squash the paw fruit he had tried so hard to collect from the forest for his father. The teen's eyes having settled on staring at the floor as he knew he was stupid for thinking this could be anything to do with Tremaine, this surely had to be because he had been a 'negligent' Prince who shirked his duties in favor or having true fun instead of wasting time on pointless politics, right? His father must have been thinking he should be sent away to become a priest or some such thing to 'correct' this behavior, right??

'No, I-I don't want to go...I wont....'

The sound of unfamiliar footsteps approaching him causing the young Prince to instinctively look up as a shadow fell over him, Sam's eyes near immediately filled with a look of fear despite the smiling face of King Ezekial looking down on him, the feeling of the man's hands brushing the leaves and twigs out of his hair causing Sam to back up quickly as he didn't want to be within arm's reach of the stranger, "what is this, what's going on?". Trying to keep his cool despite an obviously unsettling air forming around him and the King, Sam glanced back at his father who seemed to be rather focused on the documents in front of him rather than what was going on between his son and the intimidating King kneeling before him. The teen's heart only dropping more into his stomach when the now named King Ezekial claimed that he was going to be 'living with him' from now on, Sam felt a sick feeling in his gut as it seemed one of his suspicions was correct in a sense.

"No way, t-this isn't going to happen, I promise you that", Shaking his head as he frowned and looked back at the advisors who were blocking his path out of the meeting room, Sam had had the suspicion lately that his father was planning on sending him off on some weird, arranged marriage plan, but not like this. The same had happened to his sister Anna despite the woman agreeing to the terms that had been set, but Sam had seen what could come out of something like that with the way it has seemingly turned down his siblings once bright personality to that of simply a show piece mother. There was no way the teen was going to get involved in anything like it be with it a man or woman, him not realizing just yet that he had little choice in this matter, "I think me and....uh, my father need to talk this out a little more, old man. I mean, your not that old, but...your just not my type".

Ezekiel sighed, a frown spreading across his face as Sam backed away from him and began to question again what was going on. He could tell the boy was frightful and didn't understand at all of what was happening. He was acting as if this was an arranged marriage one could simply just back out and refuse to deal with. Sam would have to deal with the king, there was no backing out of his new found duties.

He stood up fully, scratching at his beard. Octavious wouldn't speak, wouldn't dare to interfere or he was too afraid of hurting his son further. Maybe even the idea of explaining his new duties were too painful. Ezekiel shrugged, he didn't mind being harsh and blunt. There was no point in sugar coating the situation, it would only give Sam false hope that didn't exist, or maybe blind the prince from what was truly a dark, grim job.

The king chuckled at the boys refusal, the fight igniting in his chest now, his will to live freely and without the much older man looming over him. It was cute in a way, and a wide grin spread across his face. He stayed where he was though, eyeing the advisers behind Sam, only a small shred of fear at the possibility of Sam escaping crossing his mind. Of course, the teen wouldn't be able to escape him for long, and he would be punished for doing so even then.

"Seems like your father never spoke of your new duties, did he?" Ezekiel asked, enjoying watching the twisted expression of pain crossing the other man's face at the thought of it, the guilt leaking out through his determined look, and trying so hard to pretend he didn't exist.

He returned to watch Sam, who looked more frightful, "that's alright. I don't mind explaining." Though by the time he finished that sentence, Sam had spoken again, and a spark of fire lit up in his eyes at the sudden way the boy spoke. He clenched his fist, reminding himself that he couldn't punish the boy yet, not in front of his father. It didn't matter if Sam now belonged to the king of the Shadow Kingdom, and that his father had given up every single right to the boy, Ezekiel didn't wish for his father to feel further guilt. He promised a good life.

"It's not that simple." Ezekiel spoke, his voice harsh and full of anger, "and I assure you, it's happening whether you like it not, boy."

He took a breath, calming himself as he pinched the bridge of his noise. "Your Kingdom needs water and supplies, that much I take you already know. In... exchange for fifty years of water, your father has given up every right to you, my dear love." He said, a sly grin crossing his face, "this isn't some silly little arranged marriage. No... it's something much more important." He stepped forward then, grasping the teens chin gently with his fingers, though it was forceful enough to get him to look the 'old man' in the eyes.

"You're mine now, to do whatever I please with... you have no say in the matter, you don't get to say no. You do as I say, and you do it exactly the way I tell you. Don't and... well, let's just say bad pets don't get treated nicely." He said, a dark chuckle escaping his lips as he eyed his new prize, a wicked grin on his face. Oh how he was excited for this fine, young prince...

King Octavius knowing he could have easily explained what was going to be expected of Sam as it was well known that King Ezekial wasn't the kindest of souls, it wasn't exactly the easiest thing in the world for a father to simply tell a son straight up that they would be sent into slavery because of a trade deal. Yes, Octavius could have sugar coated it and suggested that the boy might be treated well, but why would he want to lie when this was the duty of someone like Prince Samuel? It should have been known to the teen that he would someday have to fill some sort of position with being the youngest of his heirs. If the boy had only listened in the few classes he had attended than perhaps this wouldn't be ending up like this, Sam's fear evident as he expected that his father would say something, anything to make this all some sort of cruel joke.

"Stop smiling like that!" Sam snapping angrily at King Ezekial as it seemed the man was taking pleasure out of the fact that he was afraid of him, the teen was at least attempting to put on some sort of brave front despite his short stature, his years of dealing with bad situations having prepared him to not break into tears like some others would in a deal like this. The teen was determined to be able to show that he wasn't just some little Prince that could be thrown around by his father like he was some sort of pawn, his eyes holding a mix of both determination and fear that we're likely going to prove to be quite a handful in the days to come, "I don't know you and I don't like you, King Ezekial, and I have no intention of going anywhere with you".

The harsh tone the Shadow King took on next though making the brave front Sam had put on crack into pieces, the teen wasn't used to being talking at in such an overly harsh tone, the way King Ezekial was describing this apparent deal making it seem like they were simply talking about trading cattle or crops. His chin being grabbed so that his gaze had no choice but to focus on the King only making things worse for the Prince as he grunted and attempted to pull away, Sam glared daggers at Ezekial as he was honestly thinking about spitting in the man's face to make his point across that he wasn't going anywhere with anyone.

"O-over my dead body I will. This deal...it has to be some sort of ploy", Unwilling to believe that his father would truly trade him over, Sam was unaware that behind him an advisor sensed the Prince wasn't going to come quietly with Ezekiel as he went too firmly grasp onto Sam's arm, the stoic being having orders from King Octavius to obey whatever was needed to assist Ezekial for the time being. Now, Sam not taking to this kindly at all as his bag dropped to the floor in his attempt to wheel around and land a jaw shot to the advisor, the inexperienced teen let out a cry of sharp pain as the shot was easily blocked and his wrist was twisted to the side, King Octavius's advisors being well trained in the art defense of much greater threat's than a soft peach like Sam.
