"the wind often speaks brokenly....pieces make sense, but until you have enough some of it doesn't make sense" he replied. He took in a deep breath and listened to nature. All things speaking loudly now that he was focusing on it. "it's been nice to have had something totalk with...but it has never been a proper substitute for company of the same flesh." he opened his good eye and looked at Iona and said "for someone like me....it's like talking to the voices inside my head. Sometimes they will respond, most of the time they just talk and ignore me. You however, haven't run.....and you chose to willingly stay with me. I am forever indebted to you" he said daring to inch himself closer to her.he stopped after rolling onto his side and he stared into her eyes, captivated by her very soul. "so what lies in the north for you be to traveling towards it?"

Iona held her breath as Sol moved closer, unused to human closeness. Her family, of course, always invaded her personal space. It was to be expected of them, and she did not wholly mind. But around strangers, and even her friends, she always kept a respectable space between them. Always the quiet girl who would sit in the back corner of the classroom and rarely spoke up. But here she was allowing this unknown person to encroach upon her space. Her heart beat quickened and she forced herself to breath normally once more.
"It is not in my nature to turn away someone who is in need of kindness." Iona replied, finding it difficult to avert her eyes from his stare. "There is no debt that you bear to me... As for traveling north? I'm not sure, it is simply a feeling I have to go there. I have always liked the north of any place I have been."

Sol shakdd his head and grabbed her hand in both of his. "Then let me show thanks to your kindness with the kindness natureshows me. Like the wind i will always watch and protect silentlh, like a river i will follow the flow of your foot steps. When you need solid vround then like the earth i shall always be steady for you. I will support likd a tree supports vines." He swore this vow and bowed his head still holding her hand. Awaiting a response to a degree, but knows he will follow this oath regardless. Something about this girl. Causes his heart to go a flutter, he couldnt put his finger on it. This bizzare feeling he had. But he did know he couldnt let anything happen o her, that he felt obligated to want to be there for her, and with her.

A feeling of electricity sparked through Iona's arm, and filled her with a warm feeling, as Sol grasped her smaller hand in his larger ones. Her heart drummed a manic beat, excited and giddy as a cadged bird finally freed. Her face grew warm as it turned bright shades of red. She was entirely unsure of what to say in reply to his oath to her.
"I could not ask for a better companion." Iona smiled, then her eyes held a mirthful glint in them. "But I would not follow in my footsteps... I run into walls."

Sol saw how her face gee brighter as seconds past and he could feel his own face burn with an intense heat. He could tell his face was probably matching her own in the intensity of how bright it was. He laughed at her comment on his oath and squeezed her hand lightly. "then I will walk into them with you, or destroy them before you do walk into them. After all, walls are only an extension of the earth." he said followed by a soft chuckle. He starred into her eyes as best he could with his one taking in both of her beautiful blue eyes. He could see the ocean in them, how it used to be before the dragons came, calm and tranquil, inviting and warm. He smiled at her awkwardly at first, still not quite used to another human, but it warmed up quickly.

"Then I know I have nothing to fear." Iona replied, returning the squeeze.
She smiled in kind to Sol. His slight awkwardness was endering, yet saddening at the same time. To know that he had been shunned from humanity for his encounter with the dragons, and to wield magic tugged at her heart strings. Magic was a strange thing to the closed minds of the people of the modern world, who valued science over faith, and could not comprehend a belief of something that could not be given a "reasonable" answer of. But while a world of unknowns was frightening at times, it was exhilurating never to know what was around the bend. Iona knew she would have to protect Sol in her own way, and she made herself that solomn oath.

Sol smiled contently when a small breeze wafted through. soft whispers carried across it and sol looked in a northerly direction. "we should start traveling soon...apparently the nearest settlement is a two day hike from here" he said standing and helping her up. he grabbed his staff and gave a slight bow to the tree they had been sitting under and gave thanks to it once again for keeping them dry. "and if we don't start now, we will lose a day to another storm coming our way" sol added standing up straight tapping the top of his staff. the bulb shifted to a greenish-blue color and gave off a soft glow in the suns light. "sorry...a larger storm is coming this way" he corrected himself he turned to her and waited for her to lead the way. He finally noticed too that she stood almost a head taller than her. He got himself lost in her eyes again and smiling, half as awkwardly and twice as earnestly as before. Sol definitely found her presence very soothing to him.

Iona accepted his help to stand, and brushed off the back of her jeans. Then she stooped down and picked up her backpack, shouldering it in one swift movement.
"Two days..." She said to herself. "A bit of a trek. And we'll probably have to lose a day to the storm anyway, we'll just have to find better cover."
She glanced at the tree, still amazed at Sol creating life in it again. Then her thoughts turned to the travel and her face felt warm once again... a habit she was picking up around Sol, she noticed. Two days also meant there would be a night. She had never slept in the same proximity of a male before. Even when her family camped the girls would be in one tent and the boys in a second one. It unnerved her a little, but she pushed those thoughts away. They would cross that bridge when they came to it.
"Well then, let us be on our way." Iona smiled, starting off.

Sol followed iona as she lead the way. His thoughts began to wonder and the gravity of the situation came and smacked him in the face like a branch. He had a companion. He didnt mind sleeping out with nothing bht the breeze of night but Iona might like cover. He pondered a design for a house in his mind. No, more like a tent made out of the earth itself. After all, he had just met her to share the same sleeping space would be rather awkward. He pushed that thought out and continued with his designing. He frowned
when the sun had had past its zenith and he couldnt decide on something. He shrugged it off and figured he would think of something. Nature would inspire him eventually, that or Iona might give him an idea or two. He chuckled as the ideas came rushing in keeping her in mind. He walked silently until Iona was ready to call the travelling done for the day.

The pair walked in silence for a time, each wrapped in their own thoughts. No matter how hard Iona tried to push down the idea of nightfall, it always cropped back up. It was like the insect that refused to be swatted. Though the soft sounds of nature were all around them, Iona felt the silence more and it was driving her mad. She always needed a source noise to calm her. Usually she would play her ipod, but it had run out of power a while back. So instead she began to hum a tune to herself, a little self conscious that Sol was within ear shot, so she tried to keep it as soft as possible. It was quickly becoming later in the afternoon, and Iona wondered if now would be a good time to stop. She had some more in her to go farther if Sol wanted to.
"Do you think we should stop soon, or keep going a bit longer?" She asked.
