((I am going to post Drew's reaping now))
Drew:
I woke early on the dreaded day. Reaping Day. I walked out of my small room into our small kitchen to find my father had put a feast of breakfast foods on the table. Unlike most people, me and my father feasted before the reapings not after. Right now my father was probably in his small room looking my mothers old dresser. Every year he chose the dress my mother wore on this reaping, which would be when her fourth was this year. When he found it he hurried through the kitchen, hiding the clothes from my view. He lays the clothes out on my bed and then comes out to eat with me. "Feeling lucky?" He asked, sitting across from me. "No, I never am. The odds are never in my favor." I said plainly and counted the amount slips with my name on them in my head. 4 slips, 1 for every reaping. Then tessare. I signed up once when I was twelve, 7 slips. Twice every other year. 13, 13 slips. 14, 19 slips. 15, 25 slips of paper with my name on them. "I have 25 slips in that glass bowl." I wasn't very hungry but today, my dad always cooks the best. I ate breakfast, then my dad told me to wash myself, as I always do. I bathed and dried myself , then dressed. It was a beautiful leaf green ruffled blouse with a wavy brown skirt and sandals that had a cluster of cherry blossoms tied on them my father must have put there this morning. A few minutes before we left, my father came in and put a simple bun in my hair, tied a dandelion into my hair and clipped the loose hair down with a couple boby pins. When he was finished, it was time to leave for the square.
I stood nervously with the group of 15 year old girls in the square. I zoned out through most of the presentation, but when the escort said, "Ladies first!" She had my full attention. I followed her hand into the bowl out and watched her lips, hoping they wouldn't say "Drew Fireland". The escort paused before announcing the girl tribute from district 7, then she spoke in clear words, "Drew Fireland". I slowly made my way to the stage.
