Rin's words didn't reassure him all too much, but when Rin moved forward he did as well; nothing more nerve-wracking than meeting your boyfriend's parents for the first time.. after you kept him from home for a month

Rin approached his parents slowly, floating in front of them and waiting for them to speak. When they didn't, he took a deep breath and launched into an explanation quite similar to the one that he'd given Orla, his tail flicking nervously in the water.

Jessie fidgeted and wrung his hands slightly, biting his lip and watching as Rin spoke to his parents. he didn't come closer since he was too nervous, and he didn't want to provoke Rin's parents.. and have a head start in case one or both made a move towards him.

From the expressions on their faces, it seemed that Rin's mother was just glad to have him back, but his father seemed angry and suspicious towards Jessie. The tone of Rin's voice suggested he was begging for something.
Eventually, Rin's father sighed, and, reluctantly, said something to his son before turning around and swimming away.

Jessie swallowed and he sucked on his lip ring a little before flicking his tail and hesitantly drifting forward to float a small distance behind him. ''whats going on?" he said quietly, giving a shy wave to Rin's mother

Rin's mother looked surprised, waving back hesitantly and seeming confused.
"We're going to get some sleep." Rin told Jessie, smiling at him reassuringly. "Things'll be sorted out more tomorrow."

"oh.. okay, so.. i just roll over like this?" asked Jessie as he rolled onto his back, floating beside Rin and looking at him upside down with a faint smile.

"Pretty much." Rin chirped, rolling over beside Jessie and taking his hand, linking their fingers. "And hold on tight."

"alright..'' murmured Jessie, squeezing Rin's hand slightly and his eyes drooped shut ''goodnight Rin..'' he added softly before starting to drift off to sleep.

"Goodnight." Rin breathed quietly, watching Jessie for a moment before closing his own eyes to try and get to sleep.
