I'm not dead, just didn't have the time or energy for a lot of spinning. But here's a picture of what I got done in September.

Brown yarn is merino wool, blue yarn is merino wool/Shetland wool/bamboo fiber, and the pink and yellow yarns are both mulberry silk. I've got a lot more of the brown wool to spin because I'm going to knit a sweater soon.

Also quick question;
I’ve been painting things like boxes for Christmas presents, would hey be okay to post here? They’re all hand crafted boxes, however I did not craft them. They were given to me and I’m painting them

I'm making a gingerbread house tonight! I am doing it wrong, but it's for display only, so it shouldn't be too bad. (I hope!) Unfortunately, I should have baked the pieces 2 days ago for the build to go well. I'll have to rush home from work to get it entered by 5 for the display. They only had 5 as of yesterday, though. It made me feel like more participation is needed. Yes, it's a contest too and I'm not aiming to win 1st prize. I might have a chance for 3rd if there are only 3 in the adult category. LOL

update: Shortcut did not work and the house broke. O well, if they have it next year I'll try and get it done the right way and in time. :-)

New shawl, inspired by Magrat Garlick from Terry Pratchett's Discworld series!

I prepped the fiber, spun it into yarn and plyed it, picked some patterns to combine and then knit and blocked this shawl. All told, it was a year in the making.


Misty: What was the shortcut you were trying? And was it still edible? Because, I mean, fresh gingerbread.

This is the box I’m currently painting; it’s a big box, this one I snagged from my work. One of our by wheels of cheese came in the box, and nobody else had snagged it by the time I left work one day so I snagged it. I haven’t worked on it at all today, but I will tomorrow I gotta get more paint for the decorations on the trees. I have yet to start painting the lid

The recipe I use suggests that the pieces set out for a couple of days before building the house and I didn't leave enough time for that, so I tried to freeze then thaw the pieces to get them slightly stale. (Hey, it works for croutons!) The walls were too soft and one broke. Unfortunately, this was meant to be for display only, so I did not follow food safety rules in the making and it was all tossed. Next batch will be better! Now, if only I could find that darn mini house cutter I bought a few years ago.

Looking for crochet teacher, if you have the patience to record videos and answer questions on tension and holding the yarn.

I'm trying to pick up the craft, and tend to screw up my tension. I also need help with following a YouTube tutorial.
