Yes, please post your butterflies Real. :haha:

Hi Misty!

Wolfsister, I really like the cardigan and your double knitted scarf-in-progress. That is going to be awesome once it's finished. I think that pattern is somewhere on my own to-knit list.

Tonight I need to work on spinning a second bobbin of merino singles for the yarn I'm currently working on. The yarn is probably going to be knitted into a cowl. I also need to look through all my fiber and figure out what I'm going to spin next. I gave in and bought some more fiber on Friday night and yesterday my spinner's advent calendar arrived so I don't need any more fiber for awhile.

I love seeing the beautiful yarn work, so much talent and a lot of counting. I remember when I was young my mom use to spend the evenings crocheting and we would frequently hear "hush up, I'm counting" coming from her direction.
I did have a weak moment during one of my "I don't feel productive so I'll just sit here and shop for pretty supplies" breaks and added a camera to my shopping cart. I'll soon be able to share photos of some of my ornaments.

I was making Christmas ornaments yesterday!

Well, just this one ornament tbh because I spent a good half an hour playing 500-pin pickup when I accidentally turned the box over on my lap :derp:

Yes more people! Hi sara and Merk. Your ornament is very pretty, and I hope you didn't find any pins with your feet!

I worked on a few things this week. I finished the second bobbin of some merino and it's ready for plying. The yarn will probably be knitted into a cowl. It's blues, teals, purples, greens, and some golden brown colors, not all of which can been seen here.

And then I've been working on using my blending board to mix this brown Shetland wool with cream colored Tussah silk. I don't yet have a photo of the finished fiber blend, will probably get one tomorrow. It's a very soft golden blond shade after blending. I'm planning to spin a lace yarn with this. Eventually.

This is probably what I'll spin next. It's 75% Jacob wool/30% Tussah silk. Currently I'm dithering between either a worsted draft or a semi-worsted from the fold draft.

Wish I knew how to make things like that. What I do best is cook. That probably doesn't apply here.

The thing I made is easy enough. You take a styrofoam ball and an asinine number of pins, and a large quantity of fabric squares that are 2in to a side.

First you establish where the "poles" are on your ball. You can pretty much arbitrarily do the first one but the other one has to be pretty near exactly opposite the first or you'll end up with wonky middles.

Then you take a fabric square and fold it in half hot-dog style.

Then you fold it again hamburger style.

Then you unfold the hamburger-style fold (that was just to establish where the halfway point of your rectangle was)

Then you take the corners of the rectangle and pull them so the folded edges meet in the middle and make a point

Then you take a pin and pin the point you made so that the fabric touches the established "pole" of your ball

Then pin the bottom of your fabric point down so it doesn't come un-folded

Do this four times at each pole; you should en up with a square with a lot of lines at either end

Then you do the next layer; repeat the folding steps, but this time instead of pinning it to the centerpoint, you're going to pick one of the seams on the square made in the first color and pin your new layer about 1/4 to 1/3 in away from the centerpoint along that line.

Just keep repeating these steps for the rest of the design; put the four "under" points on first, then the four "over" points (look at the brown fabric in the first picture to see what I mean by "over" and "under")

When you finish the second layer, you can do a third and fourth layer if you feel they're warranted. To finish it, run enough ribbon around the center so you can't see the crappy edges and ravelling threads (believe me, mine did not look that nice until I added the ribbon). Pin the ribbon in place, and then you can add smaller ribbon to hang it with and voila! ornament

As far as I'm concerned cooking is crafting. As a former baker I would argue that there is an art to cooking. There are so many directions you can go in with food, everywhere from every day meals, to preserving, to breads to cake decorating and candy making.
What kinds of things do you cook?

I've got a craft fair coming up on Saturday and then two more on the next two Saturdays after that. I've got 240+ ornaments made and I still don't feel like I have enough. In hopes of getting another 30 done today. Then have to get an artificial Christmas tree, some lights and ribbon for my display. It is going to be a busy week!

Bring on the cooking and baking. :haha: I should take notes on your ornament how-to, Merk. Because I need another craft hobby. :yarly:

I've been busy with fluff stuff, and since there was sunlight today I took pictures. Got my yarn plied, it's very soft and bouncy and is hell trying to get a photo of because the colors just don't show up correctly. Ah well, it may do better once knitted up, I've seen this happen before.

Anyone who's on Ravelry and is looking to pick up some new patterns, I suggest checking out the Indie Design Gift-a-Long group because every year a huge list of designers put up some of their patterns for 25% off and the sale started last night. I picked up like four of Nim Teasdale's shawl patterns today as well as a few others. (How many is a few?)
