How long have you been a Pokemon fan?: Pretty much since the beginning, when I first got a copy of Pokemon Blue for my birthday. So, round abouts 20 years.


4 and a bit hours later of ally chaining, and a shiny Eevee is mine! I finished my first ever shiny hunt, ahhh!
Now to figure out if I want to evolve him into Umbreon or Sylveon. Cause I love both of their shinies.

Did you use a combination of false swipe + adrenaline orbs to keep the chain going? and did it ever break and you just had to start over again?
how did you keep your PP from running out?

in other news, I've been spitting out some island scan babies across wonder trade (chikorita, snivy, oshawott, etc) and someone just traded me a female shiny modest popplio with a bunch of egg moves ...... O___O

Beat the elite 4 last night!

Hubby got me Moon AND Sun for Christmas! I've already put in like 20 hours and

I'm still on the first island. There is so much to do. I keep playing the Festival area thing like crazy. I LOVE the QR code with the island scan. I almost had a Cyndaquil but I got sidetracked and ran out of time. But I DID get a Deino! I beat the Grand Trial on the first island, but I'm still trying to catch all the available pokemon. I finally got Happiny last night! Took foreeeeeever. I just need like 5 more Pokemon and I can move on!

in other news, I've been spitting out some island scan babies across wonder trade (chikorita, snivy, oshawott, etc) and someone just traded me a female shiny modest popplio with a bunch of egg moves ...... O___O

Basically, you False Swipe to drop it to 1HP, then use an Adrenaline orb to increase the chance it'll call for help (you only need to use one for the duration for the fight/chaining session). Then you just keep knocking out the allies it calls for help.
Since the wild pokemon can run out of PP which will result in Struggle and will break your chain when they faint, use False Swipe on the new ally, then knock out the old pokemon. That doesn't break the chain since the fight is still going.
To keep my own PP up I just stocked up on Leppa berries(they heal 10PP each).
And naw, I never broke the chain, it was one continuous chain, (I did have to put my 3DS in sleep mode ad stick it on the charger though).

Also, if the pokemon you're chaining calls for help and nothing comes, and you need to stall for a turn, you can go into your bag and use another Adrenaline Orb. It won't actually do anything, nor will it use up the orb(you only need to use one at the beginning), but it'll waste a turn and let them call for help again. A good way to stall for time if there's no healing to be done,


Also, if you're going to chain for Ghost Pokemon this way, get a Rowlett. They're the only pokemon that can learn both False Swipe AND Foresight naturally(False Swipe by TM and Foresight by levelling up). Unless you want to do a lot of back and forth switching.
Foresight to make normal moves hit ghosts, False Swipe to drop them to 1HP.

The only other pokemon than can learn both are Farfetche'd and Sneasel, who learn Foresight via breeding.


In other news, I beat the Alolan E4!

I was googling around and wow there are some THOROUGH complicated smeagle teams etc and I was like ooookay I'm just trying to dip my toe in the water not cannonball in hahahah
but they were very interesting. maybe if I get the hang of the basics first I'll try to delve into it
