@Soleil: Can you give me some sewing advice?


How would I go about sewing a collar like this one? How would I get it to be all ruffly, without being flat? (or is that an anime exclusive thing, haha.)

Ummmm.....Okay googled for different images (straight on screen caps mostly)

What you could do is use a heavy interfacing in between your fabric, that will stabilize it and make it stiff/sturdy to stand up. I typically don't use interfacing, but a lot of cosplayers do because it allows you to position the fabric in various ways depending on the type of interfacing (they have lightweight, medium, and heavy).

Then it looks like hers is a full piece, so it needs to connect in the front so you could either do snaps or velcro to keep it in place.

Oh boy, wigs are scary. And I'm not going to the wig store again. I've only bought one wig, but I've had to visit the Place 5 times

My most recent cosplay build.... done in two days.

It's a "Sith Jedi" for the Star Wars premiere on the 17th. I wanted to do a Jedi tunic and borrow a lightsaber from one of my guy friends, but..... they only have "dark side" sabers. So they talked me into making it a Sith style Jedi tunic, which just means changing the colors to black and red I bought the fabric Tuesday night and I just finished stitching the belt seams. I may go back in and throw some decorative stitching on the red tabards.

I wore it today (12/5) to a little local con and I know I need to make some adjustments now. I added my hooded pirate corset to tie it all together, it really looked nice with it.

This is my latest project. We're doing a group of clothing-swapped Disney characters. I'm going as Meg, dressed as Hercules. My great friend Cory is going as Hercules, dressed as Meg.

This was my first foam-project and it has given me utter hell. This is what I have so far:
(missing the cape, belt, medallions, and of course.. the wig)
