I can't believe that there isn't a guild for this yet! Let's rectify that problem, shall we?

This guild is here for the fans of the Guillermo del Toro film and its graphic novel and novelization. Any talks about events from any of the books that hasn't been revealed in the movie needs to be put under a spoiler cut. Theories and talks about what the sequel might have are encouraged!

With that said, I don't believe Yancy Becket is dead. True he was yanked out of Gipsy Danger's comm-pod but that doesn't mean he's really dead. There's a lot left open for interpretation there.

Edit: Pacific Rim 2 has been confirmed!! April 7th, 2017 is its theatrical release date. :D

He was drifting with his brother though, and his brother said he felt him die - so I think he's dead.

Didn't know there was a graphic novel and book. I heard of the video game though.

Yeah, the graphic novel is titled "Tales from Year Zero" and gives more back story to Pentecost, the Becket brothers, Tendo Choi and such. The book is a novelization of the movie they published before the movie's release. I'm still reading it myself. There's added stuff and errata between each chapter to give details or background info on the characters.

The novelization was a little over $8 including tax on the B&N store for the Nook. :3 Well worth the investment. It also tells about Oblivion Bay and gives names to earlier Kaiju.

So there's been talks about making a second movie. Does anyone have any opinions to share? Personally I have mixed emotions over it. On one side I want to see more of the Kaiju War explored and explained. On the other I don't think it really needs a second movie if they're going to continue from the end of the first.
