<3 One of my old high school teachers bred them so I got him for free and I love him to death x3

:o lucky, I don't have awesome bug owning friends u.u that sounds really cool. I got to take care of Madagascar hissing cockroaches a handful of times while I was working at a local zoo/petting zoo, they're pretty cool...not something I'd want as a pet though....X3

Hi guys. I'll probably just lurk here and read everything. I've always loved bugs, I lived in Hawaii for my early childhood and there were plenty of creepy-crawlies there. ^_^ The only ones that I didn't like were the humongous centipedes that lived in our house because they were pretty scary to a kindergartner (although now I think they're pretty cool).

They're pretty neat and a favorite for invert owners, but I'm not really that intrigued by them. They just kinda... sit there.

Hiya Drei! Did you know that Hawaii has the only known species of carnivorous caterpillar?

It's okay Crazy, you can say the Vampyroteuthis's your favorite :3 Bug-Lover's Club is just catchier than Invertebrate-Lover's Club.

I actually didn't know there were any carnivorous caterpillars. :orly: Does it live on a specific island?

Added you, Piney :)

I don't know the specifics, google brings up http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eupithecia

Here's a video of them:

That video is pretty sick (good-sick)

Darn, the carnivorous species mentioned don't have much more than a couple sentences on their pages =/ I'll have to look into them more...

Oh, wow. :omg: That is so bizarre! It looks like it would be more difficult than just sucking plant juice, but eating flies seems to be working out for them. Very cool.
