Yeah, I agree with Cassowary, those probably were mayflies. Where I live they appear in May, and last well through July. They swarmed the old house I used to live in during their mating season. I actually love them and find them beautiful, like little fairies almost. And I have a random pic I found on Google of a mayfly, since you said that if someone posted a picture you could identify it.
