As for en, my first few weeks I was lucky to have over 200. A tip I picked up in the forums was, after you play eggdoku 3 times for the day, put a portion of the en in your bank.
Now, I'm rarely under 1k en more than a day or two, and if I wasn't buying pretties all the time I'd have more. I play eggdoku 3 times every day, as well as Kyber crafting, Zeke's accounting, Alonya's quest, and luck and timing daily. I'm also a premium member, so the free en every day from that doesn't hurt (usually 30-90en a day).
I do harvest a lot - minimum of 3 times in every biome every day, 20 times in my target biome of the day. And most of it goes straight to the market. When I first started, first of each item went to my collection, 2 of each item stayed in my possession in prep for Alonya's quests, and the rest went onto the market. Now I've got so much backstock on some things, I'm keeping 10 of things I'm not hoarding (in case I need to make potions).
If you play the market, I recommend checking your price vs the current going price on everything once a week or so. I prefer price matching to undercutting the current lowest price. I get anywhere from 150-400 en a day from the market, with occasional spikes in sales over 1k.

tom! They've both got a boatload of carries, but I think they both look good. Any idea which one you want, audio?
Stumbling my way around and trying to figure out the basics. I've only got three kitties so far (all gifted to me), but that's because I'm being really anal about wanting to make sure when I hatch my eggs I can make them look how I want. Which means apparently, that I need orbs, pfft. 
Working on getting there though!
