I thought that the main arc would have been better, if Air had been a 26-episode series and hadn't felt rushed in the end. I kind-of understood it on my rewatch, though. I didn't care much for Kano (the first girl, iirc), but I liked the Minagi/Michiru arc. I liked Misuzu's arc for the tragic atmosphere, but the story could have been so much better explained.

I wasn't able to rewatch Kanon. I didn't like how
Spoiler
the guy in the end chose the girl who was more of a friend (Ayu), although I thought that he had much more chemistry with Mai or, my favourite girl of the bunch, Shiori.

Also, I think that the reason why Kanon is the least memorable of the three "unholy" series, is because it's the most slice-of-life-ish, but yeah, lacking in humour.
I think that if you like harem with humour, then you might like Clannad. There is a lot of incredibly cheesy stuff in Clannad along the way (I skipped the resolutions of Kotomi and Nagisa's arcs in the first series on my rewatch, couldn't bear through them again), but there's also enough humour (heck, there are several characters whose very function seems to be to provide comic relief), including a running gag that appear in almost every episode but doesn't fail to remain funny.
There is also a kind-of mystical parallel storyline, but it isn't too bothersome. And it involves really pretty art. *A*

Also, in After Story, there is a tiny possible connection to Kanon.
Spoiler
Sanae's "friend"'s jam on Ultimate Rainbow bread.
@EternalFox - It took me a while to realise that beneath that weak crybaby appearance Nagisa has a lot of quiet strength, especially considering the circumstances with which she had to deal on a regular basis.

Pulled into an anime with a great beginning, and early-middle.
Then, all hell broke loose.
Spoiler
Human sacrifices, suicides, lesbian crushes turning into agonizing hatred, bitter and depressing backstory, incest (sort of), and hidden crap to jump out at you and punch you in the face when you think it couldn't get worse.
Dear god, the middle of that was worse than the end(s) of School Days (which I never saw all the way through...)
The end of it barely made up for it.
Dark, disturbing, and depressing are all words I'd use to describe it....
Myself;Yourself.

I'm going to go watch something less f*cked up.
Listen to Me Girls, I'm Your Father!

On a different topic, Clannad!
God, that was an amazing series. Though now that you mention it, Kotomi's backstory would be one of the things I might skip over.
Spoiler
I smell a common theme of fire causing childhood trauma in anime... Not just in those two...
MY BIGGEST PROBLEM WITH THAT SERIES:
*Drumroll*
Spoiler
They have a friggin' kid (and get married) but they don't kiss on-screen. Not once. Even in After Story.
It's almost one in the morning here. I shouldn't be posting, I always end up doing something stupid when I post/talk at night. Just ask my wife, Brina.

From the description of that, for a minute there I thought you were talking about Revolutionary Girl Utena.
Which I loved, even though it's... yeah, not a happy story.

I liked Kotomi's character, but I thought that the problem of her arc was rather lame. I think her character was interesting enough to not have to pull out such generic oh-let's-give-her-a-tragic-backstory crap.

As for your problem with Clannad,
Spoiler
maybe because I'm not much into romance per se, I had no problem with that. There was plenty of other kinds of affection present between the characters. For me, if a couple doesn't have genuine affection between them, then no amount of smooching will make me believe that.
Heck, my favourite TV series, ever (non-anime), never makes it clear when the couple in it got together and doesn't show much romantic stuff, although it also has my forever-and-ever OTP.
Maybe I'm just old and disillusioned. XD

Another stuff:
Spoiler
I found it amusing how the beach episode turned tragic in the end. Kind-of thought that might happen, but was still amused when the boat showed up.
Also, I think that Mei is adorable. *A*

Spoiler
A kiss is to me as consumation is to a marriage, it really seals the deal with a relationship in a fictional world, with exceptions of course.
When a series doesn't even meet the simile, to the frickin' letter, it pisses me off a little.
Also, the way Kotomi plays baseball makes me pee a little bit. In a good way.
I'm actually going to go rewatch Clannad from a pick-apart perspective and look and the character arcs and stuff. I usually just try to enjoy an anime without overthinking it.

Also, no idea what OTP is :tard:

OTP = one true pairing; the pairing that you ship above all others.

It annoys me when people say they have several favourite OTPs (mostly on Tumblr, haha), because that's kind-of an oxymoron.
You can have several favourite pairings, but OTP is just one and is above every other pairing for you. xD

Speaking of anime pairings, what are your favourites, guys? :u
Like I said, I'm not big on romance per se, and I usually don't like non-canon pairings, but my favourite anime couple might be Nodame/Chiaki from Nodame Cantabile.

Probably RinxKaede
Spoiler
before she became a psycho b*tch.
- Shuffle!
Maybe KeitaxRiko from KissXSis (I still need to watch the OVA's).
Those are all from romances though. There are probably more in the back of mind that I can't think of now. I can't get to sleep so I'ma either do Shuffle! or Clannad.
Peace~

My OTP is Zack and Aerith. I've never even played FFVII Crisis Core. I just heard about it, so I ended up watching all the cutscenes through youtube, and I've been obsessed ever since.

Before that, I loved Howl and Sophie from Howl's Moving Castle, which is my favorite Miyazaki movie, probably due to its romance angle.

So, finished Another:
Spoiler
Guess that can be seen as a downer ending? I mean, it seemed like 2/3rds of the whole class got killed off, and they could only leave vague instructions for the future 3-3 classes, not to mention that without Mei's doll eye they wouldn't have found the dead person anyway.

I hadn't even noticed that Reiko looked similar to the homeroom teacher, although with the anime amnesia logic, I suspected that *something* had happened 1,5 years ago. :derp:

And asdfg, aww, Mei's sister. They looked so happy together in the flashbacks that I really felt sorry for Mei because of Misaki's death.
And as a breather... I picked up K-On! - I'll probably get brick'd for my questionable taste, but I actually quite enjoy it as a cutesy, undemanding background show while I draw or eat dinner.

I SO hope they're going to air the last Bleach arc too, it's like 90% the same as my first Bleach fanfic :well:

Anyone knows some good anime I can watch on YouTube? It's the only thing that works on my cell.
