Personally I think instead of using time and energy to make flash games why not do something useful . . . like say make sorting your keep easier. The longer your list of critters gets the more annoying it is move them about. It would even be nice to be able to move like blocks of critters all at once opposed to one at a time. Unless of course this is already possible and I'm just really slow at figuring it out. Any way my main point is I would rather see the staffs time and energy spent on something that would improve the general use of the site rather than adding extra stuff like games.

While I'm not fond of MS having flashgames at all, I'd honestly prefer they WEREN'T related to anything on the site. If the flashgames were required for quests, they would instantly cut from the quest anyone who lacked the timing or eye-hand coordination necessary for the game and anyone with an old computer or slow connection. If the game does not require timing, eye-hand coordination, or similar skills, then it can probably be handled as text, maybe with some pretty images included.

Gold generating would, of course, speed up the inflation on the site, which would also increase the complaints about the 'broken' economy. I don't consider the economy broken, so don't actually see this as a reason not to implement them this way, but it is something that needs to be kept in mind for anyone who is tired of people asking for price controls.

As for any kind of battle system... I HATE any and all forms of PVP, so using flash that way would be a double negative to me. Even if the battle system was against an AI, I probably wouldn't participate. I strongly prefer cooperative gameplay to competitive.

Of course, if the flash games aren't site relevant, then there's no real reason to have them here at all. If someone is bored here because all their creatures are adults, or they have nothing to add to conversations, or none of the game threads catch their interest, seriously, do something else! I'm not trying to be mean, or say people who like variety are not welcome here, but MagiStream is not the only fun place on the internet. Check out Jay Is Games or Eyemaze for flash games. One sight does not have to do everything, and I see no reason to use site resources here for things which can be found in abundance elsewhere.

But as I said earlier (not meant to be harsh or anything, I'm just not sure if you saw my post

) games purely for fun could mean less community participation, which would be sad because the community is one of the best things about Magistream.

IMO for those of us who have issues making money here in game because we're not active in the forums it would be nice to have A game to earn gold on. No high scores, just simply play the game once a day (or three times a day) to earn the gold. There's two stupid quests I havent finished due to I cant earn the gold. I'm too busy to be constantly in the forums, and selling creatures is another issue.

Why cant there be MS shops where you can sell creatures automatically with a 'buy' button that users would put up?

Well, Hat and I were talking about a Magistream Monopoly type game. Thats a kind of community game, no? I'm talking about games that you have to play together in a group with.

While I have voted for them to have some relevance to the current magistream IF they were to be introduced, I do appreciate Lodrelhai's points. I think that there possibly should not be any hand-eye coordination involved for the computer reasons and so that they can be changed into a text version like the quests we have now..
And I also am against the whole PVP/Battle system - go play pokemon if you want that tbh, I enjoy MS being relativly uncompetitive (if thats even a word

) and if it was introduced I would leave. No questions, thats not why i came to this site to start with nor is it something I want from this site - I cannot see a Jackalope beating a celestial dragon...nor do I have that concept in my head that they would want to battle... but I shall save arguements for that topic for when that topic comes up.

I would not like to see flash games generate gold on MS. There is enough inflation and ways to get gold that if you had to spend more time on MS to get more gold...those who already do generate up to and over 10k a day and they will just increase that...and for those who do actually live a life outside of the internet, it makes it harder to spend the time needed or even required to generate that much gold per day. Which is WHY egg sitters are so popular - not everyone can spend several hours on MS posting or clicking.

so I spose that would mean that the flash game is kinda irrelavent to MS - can't generate gold, can't make it too complicated because of computer restrictions and the need to be able to have it as a text version, the possiblity of a server overload and needing a new one...although technically the stream could be seen as a "flash" game of sorts.

new players would be good, MS has grown a lot since it opened, and may ppl here are nice, friendly and happy to help - our mods are not power hungry morons, nor are our admins - our artists are extrememly talented...IDK...there are pros and cons and it depends on what Tristian wants to add to the site to continue to increase the flow of new players and new donators...though I dont know how popular the shop has been? has it really made much profit? was it a good "business" idea to implement? and is this why there is a poll to see what other new content to add to MS? because the shop has - possibly - failed?

anyway, flash could be fun - but it will take the creatuve minds of everyone to make it work and have most users of MS happy - I say most as noone will be 100% happy...thats asking for the immovable object to move.

yeah but if they were limited to a certain amount of time per completion or something it could be ok - so if you could only play it 3 times a day or every 2 days or something it wouldnt really makeit that much of an issue. (think someone else said similar but meh..)

@ Euph.. MS monopoly would be soo much fun!! and would make the "Friends list" more useful! I like that idea.

Flash games are nice, but I see things going the way of Neopets if they're added. Though we may not get the on site advertising, we'd still have the other problems mentioned associated with the games. Not to mention the potential server lag it could create.

Making gold is not that hard, and you don't have to be that active in the forums. I make a good amount of gold everyday just posting in the click threads and clicking creatures.

This might perhaps be good, though. I'm against too much Flash integration in sites I enjoy, mostly because it brings in a different level of user: ie., the younger "give gold/items/money to me FAST" crowd. On many different sites I've seen the younger generation seem to like it more, but then it brings in a different younger maturity level that I simply can't stand. Chatspeak, whining, etc., all seem to become more prevalent.

That said, also, inflation is bad enough here. I don't think we need games to generate more gold for users. I'm here because I like to relax and level up creatures/collect them and to chat on a message board. I don't need more bells and whistles to make this site enjoyable.

Strangely enough as a Flash game designer I'm saying I don't want people to employ me - LOL -- but I don't like the games. They're never fun to me, personally, and they bring the "bad crowd" in.

*shudders* Point taken about Neopets. Ick. I was there almost from the start and they ruined the entire site.

I was too. That's why I quit. I'm sure I still have four pets dying of starvation because they don't seem to lock or delete inactive accounts.
