Hm... oddly, this is starting to remind me of the items in the UniCreatures shop...

sex-change idea is good, but if a person already has two of the same gender, then changes one, then they would simply just have to over breed them... I do like it, it would be a great asset to breeders, but personally I'd want to hatch a million babies straight from the stream ;)

What about a super expensive item that allows you to hold an extra egg? Limited to only one per account, so instead of only being able to hold four eggs you can hold five!

lol What about a random species generator? That would be pretty fun. There could be type A, B, and C.
A: your creature can randomly be changed into a somewhat common animal. example: use it on sample 1 animal and it changes into a Phoenix, Koi, or Kraken.
B: The creature is turned into a "rare". Like, for instance, the new creature coming out in a few hours. It could have like... a 2% chance of showing up in the stream ever. Or it could be a creature handed out for only three days. When used on a MagiStream creature it will have a greater chance of turning into that.
C: Extremely highly expensive, I'd guess, would be this one. It has a chance of changing a creature into an animal that showed up for maybe three days and will never be seen again or maybe it can't breed. Also, though this is a stretch, it'll have a .00000000000000000000000000001% chance of turning into a donation creature . lol That would be interesting.

Or there could just be a potion that turns the creature into one sort of species each time. Ex: used on any creature, will only turn into a Kraken, ect.

Another idea, spawning from my previous one, like type A, B, and C, it can be like a chemical you can toss into the stream to make a certain type of creature egg appear. A,B,C is the same, e.g. A-common, B-rare, C-super rare/donation. Except for the C, if you even do have that slight chance of making the stream churn with one donation egg, the rest will be common. I understand that the stream is the same for everyone (I think) so then it would make using this item even riskier. But if you're lucky, and have enough space, you might snag some good stream-bred creatures.
