Don't worry, we've been told that eventually they will be able to breed, so you can still get some later, when that option is turned on.

I was never actually here for valentine's day because i am new and all, and i was wondering what the eggs for valentine's day are supposed to look like!

The Valentine's day critter this year was the Lucinis bird.
They aren't in the stream anymore but they do breed, so there are plenty wandering around the site available from other players. They look like pink eggs with a beak sticking out one side.
